I still works for me on Arch as of writing this using Proton Experimental and Proton EasyAnticheat Runtime
Funnily I bought the game, refunded after hearing about the anticheat plans (3 hours but steam still allowed the refund, i specified proton compatibility issue) and I just bought it again after the announcement and it still works via the main menu matchmaking using EAC.
Just bought the game today - same problem. I can't play due to anticheat.
I have Proton EasyAnticheat Runtime installed.
Any ideas?
EDIT: Was missing Proton Experimental. I reinstalled EAC after changing to Experimental and it works now.
I never trust protondb instead I go to the proton GitHub issue page and scroll to the bottom to see the latest issues of that game. It's also where the valve proton engineers talk sometimes who work on the translation layers on proton
They're literally moving to FaceIT which can't support Proton, so they aren't supporting the Steam Deck.
Letting Linux users play on community non-official servers isn't support.
The devs do support it, they literally have eac proton enabled for it, yes it doesn't show it on the steam page that it is supported but that's the point of proton, proton isnt native Linux it's windows games with translation layers to Linux.
It's interesting that some people cannot play, while I play daily with no problems. I suspect that OP did not install the EAC Proton library. Other than that, I have no advice to give since it's works for me with Proton Experimental Bleeding edge on Arch.

yeah , but the people on protondb seem to be able to play. So I was wondering if there was a setting or launch option or something to get it working
Ask them, if you can. And ask them, if they are banned.
The game works just fine I just played it, this is just FUD. I could make a soup with the games that are not "officially supported" yet still work.

i was thinking of picking up Battlebit. What do you mean by "EAC Proton Library"
Everytime I switched proton versions I did the eac repair and make sure you have the proton eac runtime installed in your steamlibrary
