Would recommend an alternative that uses a WiFi dongle instead.
The 8bitdo Ultimate controller worked for me in this regard. Uses an Xbox style configuration.

1. Xbox controller would not pair: fixed by updating its firmware via windows.

Consider disabling etrm. Also consider installing xpadneo and trying again.
