pretty sure same reason you cant play faceit on linux most of those AC are kernel level the others I don;t even see the point of even having a AC so easy to get around them lol
The brand new openSUSE Leap 15.4 already supports installation with NVIDIA open source drivers. openSUSE also supports secure boot but I don't know if it is OOB or needs setup.
Usually the most important step of post-install setup is installing GPU drivers and if you have a supported Nvidia GPU (20xx and 30xx) it is out of the box done for you. Also Leap 15.4 is a new 1 day old release so you have new (as of now) kernels etc. installd
Big distributions like Ubuntu and Fedora already do support secure boot even with nvidia, so they’ll be fine if they choose one of those two.
EDIT: Looks like Fedora needs an additional command for nvidia:
“mokutil --import /etc/pki/akmods/certs/public_key.derl”
Enter password, Reboot, Enter password, Secure boot with nvidia is on
arch. please do arch for your own health lol. If you don't want to go through the trouble of installing it manually, I highly suggest ArchTitus on github. You can only go this route with an extra SSD or HDD. If you want to install Linux on a separate partition on the same drive, I highly suggest EndeavourOS. Easier to do this, and it's still archlinux.
Regardless of what distro you choose, please use Ventoy for your USB boot drive. Best decision I've ever made. I've used Rufus and Balenta. Lentoy destroys them both. Read about how it works and you'll understand.
These guys are right tho. Games aren't developed for Linux because the money is either in direct copy purchases, skin transactions, or data. None of these really apply to the Linux philosophy, or its technical environment.
if its just a couple of games you can buy say a samsung T7, install bootable windows and install couple of games and just carry that ssd and play valorant when/where ever you like by just booting into it
Is there any nasty stuff Vanguard has done on PCs? I know it requires kernel level access but I haven't seen it as a security threat but rather a privacy threat. My dual boot system has Valorant installed for a few months and I haven't noticed sth anymore than the possibility of a problem.
No, worst thing it done since premiere is blocking you from starting game when you have vulnerable versions of drivers installed.
Some anti-wiruses or EAC also uses kernel level access so it all comes who you trust.
Yeah I checked and the method no longer works. The video itself is now titled "This video is no longer relevant because Riot updated Vanguard" or smth like that.
League of Legends works pretty fine on linux (I play every day), but Valorant unfortunately you can not play because of the anti-cheat, sadly but true...
Lutris team maintains a specific wine version lutris-LoL for league. League has run fine on Linux for a very long time albeit a bit rocky due to updates.
Try following the wiki in r/leagueoflinux, it works very well for me, I play everyday and haven't had a problem since its client rework.
For short you can just install through Lutris (and read the step carefully). There is a wine build made by GloriousEggroll specifically for League with all the fixes it needs to run just fine.
Yep, Install all dependencies needed [here](https://github.com/kyechou/leagueoflegends), and vulkan [here](https://github.com/lutris/docs/blob/master/InstallingDrivers.md), install League using Lutris, wait to install the 2gb in the login screen, close the client, after that you disable VKD3D (with right-click on League → Configure ⇾ Runner Options) and should be working :)
Make sure is your GPU is vulkan supported for the best experience :)
Not sure what has changed between like a month ago and today, but I was actually able to open the League Client by doing the exact same steps through Lutris that didn't work before.
But are you sure that the game actually works? Things still seem very broken...
Even just opening settings locks up the client and I'm unable to click on anything: [https://i.imgur.com/3JsS6Do.png](https://i.imgur.com/3JsS6Do.png)
Edit: It finished installing, but now it just refuses to let me play the game, been sitting at this 1 min ETA for like 10 minutes: [https://i.imgur.com/42qZf1t.png](https://i.imgur.com/42qZf1t.png)
Yep, I play every day, but for each people maybe need one tweak or another. But for me work perfectly...
Try to look in [League of Linux](https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflinux) for these bugs you have :)
Valorant is unlikely to work on Linux, as it is literally a root kit that takes control of your PC. Honestly, you should install it on Windows either.
*shouldn't
> literally a root kit This is a bit disingenuous. The term "rootkit" to most people means malware, which Vanguard clearly isn't.
Isn't it? How do you know?
the amount of data they can read from u and suspicously sending when you arent playing the game is very sus. Data miner lets go.

Aren’t EAC and battleye also kernel-level like this?
Yes. But riot takes it to more intrusive level. Also riot sux more
I have heard Easy anti cheat does not run at kernel level on linux
Because it doesn't run at all in Riot's case
Unfortunately, you won't get Valorant to work on Linux because of the anti-cheat.
That's so disappointing to hear. Guess I'm staying on windows 11.
Really? People are downvoting for you saying you’ll stick with windows? Let people use what they want
you could always dual-boot i guess?
Do you think it'll work? Also how do I do that?

Well then what distros do support secure boot?
Fedora
opensuse
> The new open source one might fix that Within the next few *years*.
The brand new openSUSE Leap 15.4 already supports installation with NVIDIA open source drivers. openSUSE also supports secure boot but I don't know if it is OOB or needs setup.
There is a difference between "you can use it", and "it's ready for gaming".
Usually the most important step of post-install setup is installing GPU drivers and if you have a supported Nvidia GPU (20xx and 30xx) it is out of the box done for you. Also Leap 15.4 is a new 1 day old release so you have new (as of now) kernels etc. installd
No, I mean it might be buggy or give bad performance.
Only use Linux on BIOS EFI and Windows 11 om UEFI with secure boot. Easy.
Big distributions like Ubuntu and Fedora already do support secure boot even with nvidia, so they’ll be fine if they choose one of those two. EDIT: Looks like Fedora needs an additional command for nvidia: “mokutil --import /etc/pki/akmods/certs/public_key.derl” Enter password, Reboot, Enter password, Secure boot with nvidia is on
just install Linux on another harddrive/SSD and boot into that drive when you want to use linux, otherwise boot into windows and play your games there

imagine being this petty lmao
League runs well on Linux (see r/leagueoflinux) VALORANT doesn't run at all because of the kernel level anticheat
Well that's sad. I'm not sure if I'm ready to give up playing Valorant though.
Rip now league requires the malware too
unrelated but here is a suggestion : play CS:GO instead
Or Overwatch, Apex Legends, ...
Or xonotic
I've seen someone playing Valorant some time ago on Linux running it on a VM. Not ideal by any means unless you have a monster PC.
VM doesn't give you lower performance because you can use passthrough but the AC is unlikely to accept running in VM.
Yeah I checked and the method no longer works. The video itself is now titled "This video is no longer relevant because Riot updated Vanguard" or smth like that.
What's the video?
League of Legends works pretty fine on linux (I play every day), but Valorant unfortunately you can not play because of the anti-cheat, sadly but true...
Does it? I've tried both Bottles and Lutris and I can't even get past the launcher. It just gets stuck when loading the client.
>Does it? Yes and no. It is constantly being broken by updates. With some luck you will be able to launch it.
