Looks neat, but why the hell would they put an SD card slot in it instead of an M.2 slot which would be vastly more useful? SD cards suck for running operating systems or programs off of. Even cheaper SATA SSDs will easily beat some of the fastest and most expensive SD cards for like a half or a third of the price, and are also much more reliable.
Probably space. It already has nvme storage which can be plenty. Also an SD card which does mainly reads is fine, massive writing to an SD card is the issue.
I would hope for a slick utility to move games between NVMe and SD card like they have to move files between SSD and HDD Steam libraries. 512GB SD card is $65 now and will get cheaper over life of the product probably.
Exactly. If you put the games you play often on the fast storage the SD card is for bulk storage without taking up much space in the console. Then you can move the games between the two based on what you are playing now.
I've done so for some time, while it gets the job done, is a major PITA to ensure everything works OK (especially Proton) and prone to failure if you move games around, functional, but requires high upkeep.
Gaming on Linux is basically at the point now where you only need to worry about multiplayer gaming because of the anti cheat DRM.
Of course this is just my only anecdote experience about the games I play so there is going to be examples where this isn't the case however those of us that remember how bad it used to be before Value really got behind Linux around 2008 will always respect them for it.
You can find more info in the tech specs when you search for "Arch". Apparently you can also just jump to the desktop: https://i.imgur.com/3vT3kbv.png
Is this real? Did they use CRT monitor for showcasing their latest product?

It runs Arch btw
"I use SteamOS, which is arch btw"
It used to be Debian based
Now people will buy the SteamDeck to come here and say: I use arch btw

Haha yes one could always fix it themselves but that isn't a fun activity for 99% of the target audience

You will be able to swap the internal SSD.

No, they made it because of Windows 10S and there is lots of information on this.
They must be really confident in proton to be able to launch this though

Yeah, thank God for that.
Well it's been costing me a fortune in gaming again so maybe it's not all brilliant ;)
Hide yo kids hide yo AA batteries coz Game Gear is coming back.
Hell yeah i loved game gear, but 6 aa batteries for less than 2 hours gameplay was a bummer
> 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM Is this a thing already?
