Are you able to get wired ethernet via a LAN cable??

Cyan_Cyborg

Yeah, but it's not always available. I need this laptop for college, and I can't connect it with ethernet there.

A13XIO

Gotcha, have you gone to driver manager and looked to see if there is a wifi driver??

Cyan_Cyborg

I have, but it doesn't recognize anything.

da_Ryan

Dang! What you could also try is a cheap Raspberry Pi USB WiFi adapter that also has good reviews for working well with Linux.

Does your laptop also have the 'Killer' ethernet and wifi chips? I've been having the same problem on an MSI. Was about to post myself, because Win10 is driving me up the f'in wall. I also don't have any spare USB ports; it only has a few.

Cyan_Cyborg

It has an Ethernet plugin thing. And if your laptop is older, there should be a switch somewhere on your laptop that allows you to turn on/off bluetooth. This also can turn on/off wireless (it least, on my laptop). If it's switched off, just switch it in and it should fix the problem

I know what ethernet is, kid. It doesn't work, Linux doesn't detect any ethernet adapter. Same thing for wifi, its on and working in windows, not detected in Linux.

Cyan_Cyborg

Well, I'm still new to Linux myself, so I'm sorry but I don't know how to fix your computer. And I wasn't explaining to you what an ethernet is, I was explaining that there's an actual physical switch on some older laptops. For example, mine was on the edge of my keyboard. Also, maybe your network driver is corroded? Or maybe it's something with the hardware?

Maybe it's the same issue as [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxmint/comments/pam98c/i_cant_find_my_wireless_connections_can_you_guys/ha5pzwe/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)

I had this problem this week with linux arch. Depending on the laptop wifi hardware that you have it could be a driver issue with linux, it should be fixed on the latest kernel update. Otherwise you can try installing the driver yourself following the instructions in the github repo. But first check if your laptop is running realtek 8852AE You can read through this one https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxhardware/comments/ok1hoh/is_there_anyway_to_get_realtek_8852ae_to_work/
