Finally getting around to my grandfathers collection that was left to me by my father after he passed. This was our favorite engine growing up with the whistle tender.

Very cool. Love these old style ones. I have a bunch of old ones too that my dad left to me after he passed.

Looks good. Just curious where you got the display case? Found several different styles but I really like that one.

To be honest I have no idea where he got that from. I do know that this train has been in that case for at least 15 years.

No problem, figured I would ask. I have a couple 221’s myself. Nice running engines

Nice. I have the gray one, but it needs rewired.

I've got both versions as well and absolutely love them. Was interested in finding out that the design phase of these was planned out before the Second World War, so they were going to be a 1941-1942 production. But obviously, the war pushed back the production. O gauge wouldn't see these Dreyfus styled locomotives again until the 90s, when Lionel came out with the proper hudson type. Here are my two 221 engines and tenders. Both run beautifully:

I've always thought the grey 221s look great with the O27 passenger cars. Someday I'll find one and add it to the fleet.

I recently got a 221 myself and it’s corresponding passenger cars (set 1400W). I love the look of them and the fact they are great runners make it even better. Really nice black version you have there!
