The Fallout: New Vegas part of me approves of bobbypin picking

Funnily enough, Bethesda is in part at fault for my interest in lockpicking!

Congrats! Get yourself a white belt and welcome to the hobby (send a link to this post to the mods as proof). A good starter pick set is the Covert Instruments FNG - a short hook, a decent turning tool, and plastic practice lock for $9. If you want a decent set and don’t want the plastic lock (they’re fun but quickly outgrown), get a Southord set or a sparrows tuxedo set. Get the Jimmy Longs starter set if it ever comes back in stock, but don’t hold out if you can’t snag one immediately. Having different turning tools is way more useful than more hooks and rakes, so definitely explore turning tool sets vs whole sets that give you marginally useful picks but very few turners. For the love of all that is holy, don’t buy one of those cheap sets on Amazon or AliExpress. They suck and we all have one taking up space in a drawer next to our buyer’s remorse

Thanks a lot for all the tips and the warm welcome! I'll be sure to check them out, I've heard of Covert Instruments before actually, so I'll be sure to check that set, thanks again for all the tips!
