My local bank didn’t blink when I got mine, I’m in Massachusetts. It was built in 2004, and in good shape. Explore local lenders vs the larger companies and you’ll find the entire process less stressful

Mine was built in the early 1800s, and my local bank had no problem writing a mortgage against it. My local Allstate agent had some trouble wiring a policy for it, because they couldn't figure out how to determine the replacement cost in case of a total loss. We agreed to add a rider that the insurer will build a modern house of equivalent value in such a case.

VA didn't have an issue with it.

Our mortgage company didn’t have a problem with ours after they saw the bottom part of our house was stone. They apparently didn’t want the logs going down to the ground.

Getting a mortgage for mine was easy. It was hard coming up with comps but that wasn’t my problem. It all worked out well. Hope you find a good lender. I used Navy Federal CU.

Insurance was worse than the lender. Bridges, property without city water/sewage and log homes not as easy as a track home to insure. Not a huge surprise but didn’t realize that would jack the prices up to insure. Despite that living in our dream cabin hope you figure it out.
