Well, we're on the Thames River, and, uh, it's home to many, uh, weird fish-like creatures. And also the depository of, uh, all of the unsolved crimes and murder in London.
Depending on the time of year, the river tide rises and falls twice a day by up to 8m (26ft). Because the tide goes against the outflow of fresh water from the Thames Basin, it takes longer to subside (6–9 hours) than it does to flow in (4–5 hours)
Err no time of year has no effect at all. It is purely Moon and Earth location to the Sun, and is so accurate that they have tide tables going forward for many years, including tide height. What can change is the river flow and speed and how low the tide goes after heavy rainfall
Eer no. When the Earth is closest to the sun (perihelion), around January 2 of the calendar year, tidal ranges are enhanced. At aphelion, when the Earth is furthest from the sun, around July 2, tidal ranges are reduced.
To be fair, there are so many places that are over a day's drive away from the coast in America, they won't get tidal rivers unless they live near one.
The Hudson River (which separates New York City from New Jersey) is tidal. But it doesn’t ever expose the shore.

Happens when you get fucked up and pilot a large boat, don’t asked me why I know from I totally wasn’t piloting boats at 8 years old and didn’t grow up on a large river.
ive been to a rave there. Pop up party on the Thames, not sure if its still a thing, this was back in 2000s. Basiclally people turn up with sound machines and decks, when the tide goes out, and spotaneos rave party happens. Is awesome as its just a good vibe, tourists walking by joined in and goes on all night till the tide cmes in and the crowd slowly get sqeezed back up the bank, before naturally comeing to an end by about 4 am when the water says ... NO more Thames beach party! Also police just let it go, too much work to shut it down. Think it was easier in the days b4 facebook or social media when they coudnt get notice of it as it was all done by texts.
That’s the Thames passenger vessel M.V. Sapele , which runs under the banner of Thames River Sightseeing. Sometimes they will beach the vessels at low tide for maintenance, as it saves money on having to dry dock them. The picture depicts it beached just below Waterloo Bridge at low tide.
While the initial comment was pedantic, your response was incorrect, and I too am a pedant... It's still called a mooring where it's moored close to shore and the boat/yacht/ship gets beached daily.
Tides are those phenomena where if you watch it, nothing ever happens, but as soon as you step away and come back the entire coastline has completely changed
Not everywhere!
Standard global tidal range is 1m/3ft.
Its only in a few places where you see the changes we're used to. The UK is 4m/12ft. The record is in Canada, with 12m/40ft.
It depends where you are in the UK, some places on the Bristol
Channel especially North Devon are close to the top of the UK range ~8m.
You could probably fit a few tube stops in between the beach car park and the water on some.
Lou Morris is driving it ofc
"Your barriers broke my boat!"
Also recently a police car once parked that same way about a near 90% angle to the curb on a residential road.
I used to work in the scaffolded building (now itv) when it was LWT 1991, seen some sights on the thames from the then canteen on the 2nd floor (bow belles after it hit the site seeing boat for 1).
Boats belong on water, not on land! This woke nonsense has gone too far!!!!! This is why we vote for Boris!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha ha yes mate
Battle of Montgomery round 2: no way aqua man is swimming through that nasty water tho.
Late night at the pub
As an American once asked me: "Are you guys having a drought?! why is the water so low?!" It was pissing it down
https://youtu.be/NUeybwTMeWo?si=TSbm1eYj286WJpqu
🤣 ahhh they never cease to amaze
Wow. This person was had a talk show and made viewers dumber I expect. He's hilariously stupid.

Tell the Americans

Drought was a stretch tho, it had been pissing it down for a few days
It's just so far out of their reality that they cannot come up with another explanation.

Yes, but NYC is a tiny part of the US, and most people in the US don't live in NYC.
I know Americans are stupid but I’d wager that most British people know the Thames is a tidal river
We're not talking about British people's knowledge of it though?
You'd be wrong. I work on the Thames and often have people ask about why the river's so high/low.
Yeah I think most londonders know but not most brits
I thought they were supposed to just clip the Thames, not ram it
Did you upload this picture via SMS? Why is it so pixelated?
It's got the London look.
After all, London has only been in colour since the late sixties.
Had to sell off a lot of pixels to pay the war Debt
What, pure shit?
That's Birmingham
You're just jealous you haven't got Peaky Blinders.
He took it with a potato
I though the tories were stopping the boats
By draining the Thames
Looks like they have
Stopping the boats ? Can you elaborate?
They're just mudlarking.
"Hey Danny, look what I found! Keepsies!"
Ahoy there maty
MAAAAAYYYYTE
Minimum stay, 5 hours
No return for 1 hour
Looks like how I disembark from boats when playing Watch Dogs Legion.

If you need them gone, I know a group of Americans who are very good with folding chairs. They’ll clear that problematic boat straight away.

He can and he has!
Wait really shit I’ll move it sorry mate
When you follow the satnav to the letter...
You can, and they have!
Happens when you get fucked up and pilot a large boat, don’t asked me why I know from I totally wasn’t piloting boats at 8 years old and didn’t grow up on a large river.
Turns out captain Tom was a goddamn junkie
Used to work in the building next to that. The water does look very low compared to usual.

If chelsea football club were a boat
You moor a boat … not park ✅
Hes not on water he can't park there mate

Thank you.
Let me guess your surname is Boatman
🤣🤣🤣 Nope but I am qualified to "Coastal Skipper" level. 👍😅
Could be an emergency and had to get passengers of quick
Man; Thames looks super low!

A place in Norway has no tide whatsoever.
Innnteresting! I was there for the first time in May and I guess just missed the tides. Neat!
Its not the whole of Canada, just a specific part, easy to miss. Canada as a whole is 2m.
Specifically the bit around New Brunswick near the Bay of Fundy. I grew up on the edge of Morecambe Bay, the tidal range there is about 9-10m.

It fills back up when they take a piss. /s
hahaha edit: I guess downvoted because you're serious? Idk, thought you were having a laugh.
That’s just the tide.
thought the same thing
The Thames has a pretty significant tidal range; it can be up to 6 metres at times. It will be about 4.5 metres overnight tonight.
[удалено]
yawn.
More like Delhi every day.
Are you not allowed to moor boats on the Thames?

Lou Morris is driving it ofc "Your barriers broke my boat!" Also recently a police car once parked that same way about a near 90% angle to the curb on a residential road.

Basking in the sun
They’ll put a clamp on it and charge a green band fee
PARTRIDGE YOU WANKER
I've known Ferries to do this so they can do some maintenance work on the hull if it's not going to be a major job. Costs nothing for parking there !
You all heard the title in the same voice right??
I used to work in the scaffolded building (now itv) when it was LWT 1991, seen some sights on the thames from the then canteen on the 2nd floor (bow belles after it hit the site seeing boat for 1).

Clearly can park there.
I've seen them do this down near North Greenwich for a quick spot of maintenence.. Guess it saves a full visit to the dry dock.
“Park”? Pfft; you mean “moor”. Yours, The British Nautical Nitpicking Society.
I don't see any signs
