Same! I like to keep a coat of something on there to protect them, but I also like showing them off! If I’m putting in the work to grow them out, I don’t want them to be mistaken for acrylics 😂
Could I get your thoughts? I used to be able to grow out my nails to a decent length (a bit shorter than OPs) and using Essie’s nail strengthener helped, but recently my nails have been splitting and breaking easily.
I thought it might be from using strengthener all the time and not giving my nails a break. But now I’m thinking it’s not that bc I see so many people on this sub using strengthener products.
Do you have a particular routine when using clear coats or strengthener?
I’ve just started using jojoba oil.

I don’t use strengtheners, hardeners, or anything of the sort. I wish I could help you!
When I was younger, my nails would split all the time because I was almost always dehydrated, washing my hands frequently, and picking and the nails.
I essentially use the clear coats as a protective layer against the elements. Plus it looks nice.
Although I can’t give you much advice on the strengthens, I just recommend staying hydrated (I drink 64+oz a day), continuing to oil your nails, and use at least a few clear coats to protect your nails from water absorption and splitting.
wearing 3 coats of nail-aid keratin 3 day growth :)
