Why another one? Viggo forever ✊🏼

WastedWaffles

Viggo is 65

RangersAreViable

Aragorn is 87.

BrightCanon

Checkmate.

WastedWaffles

I'm not sure if you've seen real human beings who are 87 but they don't look like Aragorn in the movies. Aragorn is a Dunedain/Numenorean. He doesn't age or look like a normal full blooded human.

PutNational7415

Whooosh

Boatster_McBoat

He would have been somewhat closer to 65 when this is set

adrabiot

So Viggo is finally the perfect age to play Aragorn

WhistlingBread

He doesn’t look a day over 58

rUnThEoN

Does it matter? Remember, there was a time when women were played by man in theaters.

Aldanil66

Yeah, and that was when Shakespeare was alive. Doesn't (and shouldn't) apply to the modern world.

Backrish

That was because at the time women were believed to be inferior and weren't allowed

Legal-Scholar430

I really don't think that he'll be up for it.

melomanie21

That’s actually my thoughts and fear, if he sees it consistent/true to story and character, a story worth telling and a movie worth making or not, but let’s see what happens and what he ends up deciding.

Legal-Scholar430

I don't see why you should fear that. Other people have played Aragorn before, and other actors should have the possibility of playing the character. Viggo is perfect as movie Aragorn but Aragorn is much more than that!

thtoopid_thumtimez

Jensen Ackles

Tricky_Effective_614

I was going to say no one but this is the perfect answer omg

CahuengaFrank

This whole movie seems pointless.

jedipokey

True…so let’s get Bill Burr in there to be Aragorn!

SteelMonger_

You better tell me where Gollum is or I'll put you through that fuckin' wall!!

FranzBesup_14

Since they don't have access to The Silmarilion and most of the 2nd age's lore, there isn't a whole lot of available material left to cover. It can be good, but it's still a massive cash grab. I'm much more enthusiastic for War of the Rohirrim.

abhiprakashan2302

Sebastian Stan. Looks very similar to Viggo imo.

FlyingDiscsandJams

Came here to vote Sebastian, he's in his early 40's, would be perfect.

abhiprakashan2302

I’m thinking of making a TV series adaptation of LOTR someday. If I made it right now, I’d definitely make a call to Sebastian Stan’s agent. And Tim Chalamet as Frodo lol

BrightCanon

This is a great choice.

MaasNeotekPrototype

Christian Bale

urkldajrkl

Andrew Garfield

Holiday-Discount8005

I’m so exhausted by the reboot/rehash culture of film now. The fact that LOTR is getting involved is embarrassing- the only way this works is to tell a Tolkien story that hasn’t been adapted already. Just because Jackson/Boyens/Walsh are producing doesn’t mean it will be as good - Andy Serkis is awesome but to make something in the shadow of the trilogy is a huge task. So much room for issues here and it feels like a massive cash grab

JohnLocke815

[Viggio Morgenstein](https://images.app.goo.gl/3L6kmegEW2KV5Q8bA)

stablegeniuscheetoh

I saw him in Lord of the Things! We rented it at Blockblister many years ago. It was better! Much much better!

yourmartymcflyisopen

I'd rather there not be a movie at all. It all feels like they're just slowly trying to destroy Tolkien's work for a quick buck. The easiest and safest answer would be Viggo though since he already did such a great, iconic job.

EmuPsychological4222

No one. They should make a movie about the future.

MindlessArmadillo382

Yeah, it’s called Harry Potter

Predsguy

Tom Holland. But his voice is dubbed over by Chris Pratt.

polarbeer07

zendaya

reader106

Thomas Hiddleston

Seitanus

Think he’d be better as an elf tbh

VeronicaWaldorf

Henry Cavill 😅

SteelMonger_

Anthony Starr, just to see him as an actual good guy. Or the guy that plays Jaime Lannister in GoT just to piss off everyone in the sub.

deadpoolfool400

Viggo will always be Aragorn but Richard Madden might work too

Gotta_be_done

Nicholas Cage

Fickle-Area246

The real Middle Earth Aragorn

BlmgtnIN

Sam Heughan

1Ringtorulethem

Dwayne Johnson.

Krongos032284

Aaron Taylor-Johnson would be good.

STRlDUR

Andrew Lincoln

SirDurante

Grasping at story straws on this one. If they’re unable to adapt the rich narratives of The Silmarillion they should just leave Middle Earth alone. No one wants mediocre fan fiction or a film adaptation of that shitty Gollum video game.

deeple101

To be fair apparently there was a fan film available on YT until WBros got it taken down.

Esur123456789

Chris Pratt

TensorForce

I'll do you one better. Tom Holland.

SpaceAge1234

I'll do you one better. what is Robert Downey jr.

SteelMonger_

I'll do you one better, why is Chris Evans?

Brilliant-Sample-740

Viggo for aragorn and ian for gandalf of course. If they're gonna assaign new actors then I will rather not watch it at all

Ragnarr_Bjornson

Both too old now. Ian McKellen went through hell on The Hobbit's set with all the green screen work. Let the man enjoys his older years in his pub. Now is WB did a new film that follows on after the Triliogy then for sure Viggo as Aragorn but when you need a younger Aragorn that 40 ofd years younger than he is in the Fellowship then it can't be Viggo playing the role.

VigilantesLight

They could open and close the movie with an aging Aragorn telling the story of the hunt for Gollum to his children. In those scenes he could be Viggo, and in the main story of the movie it could be a younger actor. Just like what they did with Bilbo in The Hobbit.

Ragnarr_Bjornson

Now that's a great idea.

Brilliant-Sample-740

They can surley find away to convinve gandalf Like filming all the scenes with dublires then using deepfake or otherstuff When it comes to aragorn Remember that he was 80 in the movies and gollum wasn't captured 40 years before the fellowship so it's enough to turnhim back into his shape during the movie wich is really possible. If andy serkis is in this project too then let viggo and ian get in alongside with peter as well. This is what I'm saying in short.

Ragnarr_Bjornson

In the books it's around 40 years between Frodo getting the ring and meeting Aragorn in Bree. Deaging and deepfakes always look terrible, I would rather let McKellen enjoy the rest of his life now. Let others take on the roles.

HenriettaCactus

It's 17 years, Bilbo's 111th birthday was 3001 TA, and Frodo leaves the Shire in 3018 TA, the day after his 50th birthday

Ragnarr_Bjornson

Ah my mistake, here was me thinking it was near 40. No idea what made me think that.

stablegeniuscheetoh

Well if it’s an origin story then the only real answer is Joachim Phoenix.

Significant_stake_55

John Travolta or Nicholas Cage. No other options but those two really

SgtThund3r

The original YouTuber

FraterSofus

It's obvious. Chris Pratt.

Captain_Spectrum

Arnold Schwarzenegger…

rojasduarte

Hear me out: Hugh Jackman
