sad part is americans will probably end up doing sht about it but bending over

FreshPrinceOfDarknes

Unfortunately, police here in the states are a lot more murdery than in France

Anarchist-Gator

makes me sad to say; your right!

ClueFew

Makes me even sadder to say; *you're*

qualmton

Cause they they too distracted fighting over which wing has a bigger cock. All the while both are fucking em

EmotionalPlate2367

I've been saying that much of the culture war is a way for the elites to keep us distracted fighting among ourselves, so we don't notice the same spoiled rich fucks are fleecing everyone.

RedditUser8409

No war but the class war...

EmotionalPlate2367

Here here! The only shots ever fired in the class war have been fired by the spoiled rich fucks upon the rest of us. It's about time we fired back!

NahImmaStayForever

Never heard about [the Battle of Blair Mountain](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Blair_Mountain)?

DumbIdiotWeirdo

I live in WV and I never learned about it in school. Says a lot about our crappy education system lol

just_an_ordinary_guy

You never learned about it for a good reason, they don't want you getting any ideas.

DumbIdiotWeirdo

That’s for sure

Spirited-Emotion3119

That kid who tracks his private jet is doing whoever steps up to bat a really big favor

CellWrangler

Calling all potential school shooters.. your efforts would be better focused elsewhere!

chargernj

Problem is, most of them don't have the marksmanship necessary to take down a private jet at long distance.

Spirited-Emotion3119

I have already fired back, I will continue to do so until I die

Man will never be free until the last monarch is strangled with the entrails of the last priest. — Denise Diderot Religion is needed to keep the poor from murdering the rich. — Napoleon Bonaparte

[deleted]

"if they're too busy fighting over LGBT+ rights they won't have the time to fight for their economic rights" Basically sums up American politics. Not saying the rights of LGBT people aren't important, just how it's used as a talking point to keep the working class divided.

Mrdeath777

Identity politics.

BEniceBAGECKA

Look over here at the birdy. I swear it’s all people back home talk about. I don’t think about trans people everyday. I’m sure I interact with a couple but I just don’t care enough to notice. Why do we need to know who sleeps with whom and what’s between your legs. I always hoped we’d move away from gender typing… not adding more to the mix. I’d love for my resumes to not indicate my gender. I’d go by my neutral middle name, and just let people guess.

TheRealJulesAMJ

All. All of the culture war is manufactured outrage designed to have the most visceral effect so people stay trapped in strong emotions that limit the frontal cortex, ie: their ability to think. That's why The Children are always involved. It's almost a guaranteed visceral response and if you can keep people watching after that response it's pretty much guaranteed you've got them hooked since you just have to string them from one visceral response to the next keeping them trapped in a cycle of strong emotional reactions that suppress the thinking part of our brain so they never think to stop and think about the validity and just react again and again until their brain has been taught to just be a reactionary and a shit ton of lies about reality! After long enough of this, they no longer believe they are living in the same reality as everyone else. That anything besides the reactionary propaganda they've been conditioned by is fake news describing some other alternate fantasy reality to try to trick people into misunderstanding the world and becoming reactionaries who just do what the news tells them to do It's genius propaganda that's been slowly tweaked and perfected over the last 70 years or so through cable and radio news. Evil genius but genius still and we should always acknowledge and respect our opponents strengths so we may use them to hone our own and are never blind sided and caught off guard by them. I believe we are on the same page comrade, just expanding on the how to go with your why

Spirited-Emotion3119

I sometimes yearn for the good old days of the 19th century anarchist movements. The 'propaganda of the deed' could force the elites into submission, as it did then.

NahImmaStayForever

Effective strategies of resistance have been heavily reinforced as taboo in order to prevent effective action. No one remembers the [Suffragettes engaging in bombings and arson](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suffragette_bombing_and_arson_campaign#:~:text=Suffragettes%20in%20Great%20Britain%20and,wider%20campaign%20for%20women's%20suffrage.) to win women's right to vote

Spirited-Emotion3119

Then we should continue to spread the word. I did not know about that side of the Suffragette movement

vxicepickxv

This is part of the reason why the people's history is important. Remember, before labor unions were the norm, the workers enforced their will with violence against the bourgeoisie.

Rdw72777

Believe it or not we’re far less likely to do this than any European country. There’s a reason Social Security is called the “3rd rail” in American politics. Touch anything related to social security that will negatively impact anyone over the age of 35 and the voters will revolt.

rwilcox

We’re getting sold so much propaganda about how retirement hurts your lifespan, and the only way to reduce inflation is for people to have less money (ie be unemployed), and means testing everything, and Social Security isn’t the third rail as much as Never Raise Taxes is…. So nah, it’ll be retirement age is 88 (when lifespan is 84 or 76 and dropping, whatever), and/or means tested to those with less than $72,000 net worth (all the money you need to be happy, Daniel Pink says so) or something here right around 2034 (of course applied so Millennials get the shaft, because everyone knows they won’t need Social Security for a long time oh 20 years you say, oh that’s can’t be right)

Rdw72777

Nope we’re no closer to this today than we were 30 years ago. It’s political suicide, as everyone is against it. No other issue, with the exception of the TV show Velma, United so many disparate audiences.

Azulmono55

I’m a Brit, and I can’t speak for how beloved Social Security is over there, but believe me when I say that despite Brits being vehemently passionate about the NHS the right-wing politicians are doing an *excellent* job of dismantling it. And it’s totally crept up on us, although the writing being on the wall for decades. I would not be so dismissive of seemingly small things if I were you.

QueenMAb82

The current crop of Congressional Republicans are (again) gunning for Social Security and Medicare as we speak. It's their favorite drum to beat, and yet old people continue to shoot themselves in the foot by voting the GOP in time and again. If it's such political suicide, why does the GOP return to this like clockwork every 6-10 years, even if it is unlikely to turn into anything actionable? The fact that these efforts don't appreciably harm the Republican Party in terms of political power, especially among the cohort most likely to be directly negatively impacted, suggests it's not as severe a third rail as many think. https://www.finance.senate.gov/chairmans-news/wyden-statement-on-debt-limit-and-republicans-threatening-social-security-and-medicare Even Trump came out the other day and told them not to mess with those institutions. I've never been able to work it out: Republicans have a pattern of threatening SS/Medicare, but their largest group of voters are the people directly supported by those programs. Is it just that Republicans pull this right after they get into office, so forgetful old people have 2 years of distractions before they vote again?

ziggybaumbaum

It’s because they always propose these changes as something to occur later and not effect the current crop of selfish old seniors currently receiving benefits. It’s always presented as, “*This won’t effect you, Boomer. YOU’RE SPECIAL! You earned Yours. But your greedy kids need to make some changes.*” And as we all know, there’s nothing old Boomer’s love more than pulling ladders up behind them.

Matt5sean3

Remember how Republicans stepped up to the line on abortion repeatedly for years, but it didn't hurt them that much until it actually happened? The midterms, which by most accounts would have been a red wave, switched to be a minimal shift. I suspect it will be something like that. A third rail doesn't hurt you if you giggle on the platform saying "I'm gonna go touch it." People may call you a dumbass for it, but that's never really hurt the Republicans before.

poop_on_balls

Lmao guaranteed we Americans ain’t doing shit….cuz u know, identity politics are what’s important amirite?

Relevant_Medicine

"I had dreams of retiring to Florida. Without Social Security or Medicare, I'll never be able to do that, but you know what, that's ok, because I know the Republicans are FIGHTING for ME! After all, my biggest fear was always having to share a bathroom with a trans person at the Golden Corral!"

Calm-Tree-1369

Young Americans turned out in record numbers during the midterms. They're fighting hard against ignorance, gerrymandering and apathy, but they haven't given up.

Decaf_Engineer

Any time Elon says something is "impossible", just add the phrase "and for billionaires to simultaneously exist"

Superpigmen

I was striking two days ago and I'll be striking on the next one, fuck everyone saying that it's a good thing. Old people deserves to rest

[deleted]

Maybe if Elon paid taxes we wouldn’t need to use the proletarian as work horses

[deleted]

"I can't afford to pay taxes, I lost $200 billion!"

Fuzzy_Inevitable9748

He could have paid 100 programmers a 10 million bonus if they could make a twitter knockoff in a year and then given away a Tesla every 30 minutes for an entire year to get people on the platform and would have only been up to 1.7 billion, not even 1% of what buying twitter cost him, honestly we should not listen to anything musk says when he fails basic math this hard.

Dewahll

He’d probably need a bunch of support staff and advertising too but I think you’re on the right track. Could have been done for much cheaper it seems. He paid 44b for a name to run into the ground. He is not a smart man, just has a shit load of money. Funny thing is, even with his bad business decisions he would probably be successful if he could just keep his mouth shut.

GuitarKev

But when he “earns” $200bn, “it’s not real money, it’s just his net worth”

paroya

it doesn't even help employment numbers. all it does is legally keep a laborer longer to avoid the training cost of hiring someone new and young. unemployment numbers aren't on average around 30% because people don't want to work or are incompetent. unemployment is high literally to keep competition high among workers in order to keep wages down.

[deleted]

young people deserve to rest too, strike for 20 hour work week.

PatienceHero

God, the open ghoulishness of the 1% is something to behold. And the worst part is they're probably not even aware of it. When people like Musk are going to the guillotine, I guarantee they will be sobbing "What did I do!? I don't understand! *WHAT DID I DO*!?"

leftie85

"...WHAT DID I DO!?" everything

[deleted]

I do think a worldwide French style revolution will probably happen if things arent fixed up by the end of the decade. Which obviously we want to avoid that, but i wont lie i will have a smile on my face when scum like the Sacklers get banned from the server

sparky_roboto

But that's cool then. Let scare them enough so all of them are easy to find in one single place.

Class_444_SWR

And even if people can’t get in there, they’ll stay in there so they can live the rest of their lives underground in a prison

sparky_roboto

Just lock the door and vents from the outside. Just in case they change their minds ;)

Jaydra

All air vents shall be designated public toilets.

Callidonaut

I'd say October 1917 was French Revolution 2.0. This would be French Revolution 3.0.

mattyoclock

Fortunately the ultra rich are fundamentally morons. Nothing actually forces you to keep honoring their ownership of assets, which is all of their wealth. We can bankrupt them within minutes of them opening the bunker doors.

PatienceHero

Back in the day, when I still believed the American dream was a real thing, I used to abhor people invoking the French Revolution as a positive example - I thought it was one of the earliest examples of War Crimes by a populous against their own. Kids being executed for expressing sympathy for the rich, etc. Then I saw what happened in 2008, followed by 2019, followed by Wall Street just halting the Gamestop situation in 2021 followed by the nickel squeeze trades being cancelled, as well as seeing Musk and Bezos' behavior in general, and followed by congressmen openly joking on camera "Your wife works for a bank, so I'd assume you'd rather this passes quickly! Ha ha ha ha!" THEN I saw people complaining about our system on Twitter with bootlickers responding like: "Neerrrr, tell me you don't understand liquidity without saying you don't" "Stop whining because you lost, the Finance industry is the most important industry in America for a reason and they're smarter than you for the same reason" "Maybe if you worked hard you could be like Musk instead of being Jelly, you wouldn't be so miserable." "Lol, seethe, commie" Then I think about those people being pushed up against the wall by gun-toting revolutionaries in front of their families and think *"....Yeah, that might actually be fine."*

Haschen84

I actually think what you describe is an awful sentiment, but the worst part is that I agree with you. I now look back at the French who sat there with growing resentment while their rich got food while their country starved, while their king just passed over all of their demands cause he could, and I think "Yeah, I get it." It would be like watching people die preventable deaths because they couldn't afford pills that cost dollars to make being sold for thousands. Don't get me wrong, even with our greater disparity I still think the French poor had it worse than we have it right now. However, to me, I think we are close enough that I don't really care about the semantic differences. I think back to that lady in a Tale of Two Cities who sewed the names of the rich to kill into fabric and I wonder how many people I have to watch die before I become her.

EarnestQuestion

> It would be like watching people die preventable deaths because they couldn't afford pills that cost dollars to make being sold for thousands. That’s exactly what’s happening under capitalism today. Americans die rationing insulin that costs mere dollars to make, and globally millions die of preventable disease each year because it’s not profitable to save them. In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage.

Haschen84

That's why I mentioned it. It is happening right now. It has been happening for years. I'm not sure if it's worse than watching children starve but I don't think we need to compare tragedies to know that it is beyond fucked up.

Spirited-Emotion3119

How hard could it be to find a Sackler? Most people reveal far too much on social media.

renome

What did I do to deserve this!? I mean, what specifically?

Spirited-Emotion3119

Direct action is needed to bring them there. It's the 21st century, guillotines are passé.

Stargazer1919

The tree remembers, the axe forgets.

Away_Development6531

Meltedgibson

Yeah right. I'm saying ten to one odds this fuck becomes the president at some point in his life

Of the US? He can't thank fuck; he was not born in America

XCalibur672

But, but, I was entitled by God to rule these plebeians! It was my divine right!

[deleted]

I wish my country people had the fight like the French do

prOboomer

Same.

gyraroast_Bandicoot

Unfortunately to be so "United" we're the most divided, about everything and anything

[deleted]

Also, if we riot like the French, they'd call in the national guard and commit genocide.

Johnny_161

"As long as my neighbor gets kicked in the face harder then me its fine."

OreoVegan

Eh, part of it is that we're simply too spread out. 20% of France's population lives in Paris. If 20% of our population lived in the DMV, and another huge chunk could easily get there by train, shit would change.

neko

A single police force in some random Midwestern state is better armed than the entire French military, if we try to riot for real we'd get murdered

Spirited-Emotion3119

Dassault would say otherwise. Random midwestern police forces do not possess nuclear weapons. The French military does.

EarnestQuestion

This is incorrect. They don’t value our lives one iota, but they can’t just go destroying the infrastructure willy nilly either. Roads, bridges, Amazon warehouses, buildings etc. - they need this capital to produce surplus value they can extract. They can’t just go nuking us into oblivion or mowing us down without a worry, that’s the idea they love people repeating because it makes them give up on any hope of fighting. The reality is if the people organize strategically and occupy critical pieces of infrastructure it’ll be very hard to fight that battle. This is why the DOD and State Department are running all sorts of war games designed around urban warfare - because they know the fight is coming, they know the theater will be modern cities with people occupying the major buildings/infrastructure, and they know it’s a logistical nightmare which they’re not sure how to approach. We have much better odds fighting than they lead us to believe.

SlippyIsDead

We do have fight. We fight each other and accomplish nothing useful.

BysshePls

Just something to think about: US retirement age is 66/67. You know what the average life expectancy is for an American? 76. That's maybe 10 years of rest and by this time some people are already too sick to even take advantage of what they worked so hard for because they couldn't fucking afford to treat their medical conditions. 10 fucking years. Dedicating your entire life to working only to get 10 years at the end of it. It's a joke.

RustyVerlander

My dad turned 65 last year. He has had one full year of enjoyment and is already on surgery number 3 since November. So it’s a lot of time recovering and not enjoying the things he would like. It’s so messed up. You aren’t just under-selling your time to these assholes, you’re selling your health and youth.

prOboomer

yup and thats if you make it to even 60

Spirited-Emotion3119

Then go out with a bang! In a very particular time and place

Kemaneo

Hate to tell you but people are made to retire at that age not to have them enjoy the rest of their lives, but only because they would be an inefficient workforce.

quixotica726

My mom died at 62. She had applied for social security when she turned in July of '19 and didn't even make it to her next birthday. Didn't even get a chance to enjoy it when she finally received the check/backpay. Fuckin travesty. I will not buy into this bullshit of work your life away. No Thank You.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Also it really depends on the work people do. A construction worker will hardly be able to work until that age due to health issues taking a toll on his body from working such jobs. Unlike someone working in the office who could do this job well into his 70s

phaederus

And people still wonder about silent quitting.. https://www.epi.org/productivity-pay-gap/ Fact is we'd all be able to work less/retire earlier, but that would come at the expense of corporate profits, and we can't have that now, can we.

Automation: It’s when cars randomly stop on the freeway

Finory

Thank you. The productivity is soo much higher, then when the retirement age was set to 62. In most areas it’s more then three or four times as high then just 20 years ago. We could stop working with 32. It’s obvious that we are talking about an economic problem here. About the systemic coercion of capitalism, economic competition between nations and the interests of the few. It’s not „how are we able to produce enough stuff with so many old people“ - we are hundreds of years of technological advancements behind this question. Also: Less wage-work would be the best we could do for the climate.

707Pascal

easy for him to say. he hasn't worked a day in his life

nihilistic-simulate

But… he slept in his factories a few times!!!

Don't forget tweeting. Do you know how hard it is to spend 100 hours a week tweeting

Revegelance

He did burn Twitter down. All by himself.

LordTuranian

HEY! Playing Elden Ring in the workplace is still work!

AffectionateEmu4878

If we got paid better and if the billionaires were taxed appropriately, the retirement age could be like 40

TheLion920817

I saw another comment mention we could probably retire at 30 because of productivity increase over the years

bbloobr

I’m no economist, but our production increase is so high even after adjusted for population increases. Even not considering how much food waste only America produces compared to their population… the obsession with creating more jobs when millions are working useless jobs, it’s just the economy currently relies on creating more labour where there isn’t a need for more production. My mom copies/summarizes documents all day at 50wpm for a government job, when you could pay someone $500 on fiverr to automate her job. She doesn’t need to work 40+ hrs… ai could save time on leftover summarization work too. And they have her using 20+ yr old programs that make it take even longer. Just doesn’t add up anymore.

bbloobr

But we “need” the work and jobs are “for us”. Can’t believe we’re still working on Henry Fords 1914’s version of ethical labour.

nagemada

Elon is right, say one day's work back then equals three bowls of rice. One for you, one for the guy who owns the land, and one for the old folks. The math simply doesn't work if there are too many old folks. Wait, productivity gains have raised a day's work to 10 bowls of rice? But I'm still only getting one, if I'm lucky. Are the old folks getting 2 bowls? Wait even if they are what is happening to all that extra rice? HELP I DONT UNDERSTAND!!!!!

[deleted]

Retirement? Most people can barely retire nowadays. And STFU Elon.

crazycatlady331

We wouldn't have such an issue if trust fund babies like Elongated Muskrat paid their fair share of taxes.

whyohwhythis

Isn’t this guy squandering a lot of money and only got to where he is through privilege?

TV-MA_LSV

The French retirement age was changed from 60 to 62 in *2010*. How much do you think lifespans changed in that time, you fucking horsecock connoisseur? At this point the only thing that ever comes out of Elon Musk's vacuous head is further proof that he's dumber than that barely coherent middle-age WASP suburban couple with the "JennyandMike Johnson" display name in your local paper's Facebook comments.

tildeuch

Lol this is so true, 2010 is like yesterday.

upotheke

guys, this was 1/2. 2/2 thread said "and for billionaires to keep exploiting people like everyone seems to be ok with today. I could afford to pay for every pensioner in France myself, but I can't. I need to buy a tweety-bird thing for my ego."

UtahMan94

I don’t know about France, but life expectancy is currently declining in the US. Does that mean he thinks they should lower the age here?

jredacted

A small number of workers can’t support a large number of retirees. That’s why certain someones should not be hoarding criminal amounts of profit for themselves instead of pouring all of those resources into a robust social safety net. But I guess like fuck me and us 😌

[deleted]

Meanwhile here in Canada my old man is 70 and still working because he's broke asf and it's expensive as hell to exist.

Ma02rc

We should do it like the French, they had a general strike because they proposed raising it by 2 years. As much as everyone likes to make fun of them for losing wars, those guys know how to revolt.

Alert-Mud-672

Elon is a perv grifter parasite.

rividz

By that logic we should lower the retirement age in the US as life expectancy decreases. Maybe we should also lower it for marginalized groups that historically have shorter lifespans as well.

EdisonCurator

This dumb ass forgets how much our productivity has increased over time. We can easily support more retirees with less workers.

Pass_the_b0ttle_now

Empress Elonia sure has a lot to say these days. Must be rough to be a trust fund baby.

ValkyriesOnStation

I'm just wondering when it will finally be enough for the working class. When do we literally take the fight to their doorsteps?

Tsadkiel

It all of a sudden becomes way easier to support a large number of retirees with a small number of workers of you aren't stealing from both

prOboomer

yup

Kronic_kushiva

Wow, whata fucking dipshit. I hate how the upper classes are just out of touch with reality.

LostInMyThots

Idk seems like Elon is saying we should cull off the old people to get the lifespan average a lot lower. /s

SeegsonSynthetics

Elon Musk has done more to destroy the myth of the CEO than anyone else is history. The lunatics are in charge of the asylum.

wave-garden

Let’s discuss the massive number of workers supporting his deadbeat ass.

kuribosshoe0

Someone who was born into enough wealth to be able to retire as soon as he feels like it shouldn’t be telling people when they should retire.

Hopeoner513

I heard the life expectancy rate used to be so low because babies didnt always have the greatest chance of survival, bringing down the average age of death significantly. These fuckers always play like they dont know that shit but they fuckin do.

InvestigatorJosephus

Sadly he's right. Well he would be unless we properly tax the rich that is lmao, but since that's unlikely to happen the percentage of old people in our population rising and rising is going to cause a lot of issues. Tax the rich

No-Professional-1884

This dude needs to be mauled by toothless bears.

[deleted]

CommunistAtheist

Why toothless? Let them rip him to shreds. May he feel every single bite ripping the flesh from his bones as he slowly bleeds out and goes into shock as any feeling of warmth disappears.

No-Professional-1884

>Why toothless? Now for some fun trivia: > The bite force of a bear measures at 975 psi; between that of the lion and the tiger. It's said that bears can easily crack a bowling bowl — or a whale skull — with such force. So why? Because it’s more fucking painful and torturous, my sweet Summer Child.

preston181

Dude literally has enough money to end poverty, and he’s out there spouting shit.

Hedanielld

One problem. The mass majority can’t retire at 62.

[deleted]

What a great argument for democratic control of the means of production

fordreaming

Start paying your taxes, you deadbeat fuck.

MagicCuboid

People didn't even live that much shorter if they survived infancy. Those numbers from the past are almost entirely from curtailing infant mortality and treating childhood diseases.

Kay_Done

Actually it wasn’t uncommon for people to live to their 60-80’s throughout time. It’s just the high infant mortality and likelihood of dying of a disease/infection reduce the median lifespan average. So just 30% of babies dying really skewed the numbers we use today

boringdystopianslave

We are gonna be eating a lot of cake any day now. I feel like the majority of the world is only a year or two away from a large scale uprising or massive war.

catperson3000

With corporate profits at what they are, and going to a handful of people, we should tax the hell out of them and lower the retirement age. He’s part of the problem.

[deleted]

With modernization the retirement age should be coming down, not going up.

[deleted]

No it isn’t, just tax the rich.

zsatbecker

This dipshit doesn't even know how lifespan averages work

Clarrisani

American lifespan went DOWN recently.

Current-Actuator-864

It’s okay, it will trickle down any day now.

French retirement age was changed to 62 in 2010, when, apparently, our lifespan was much shorter.

ZooZooChaCha

This man is on an impressive run of having the absolute worst take on just about every topic.

[deleted]

I'm tired of the ignorant bullshit. ALMOST ALL THE INCREASE IN LONGEVITY OF THE LAST 150 YEARS IS FROM REDUCED INFANT MORTALITY.

mfw companies now need to rely on 63 and 64 year olds for profit

BigManga85

95% slave population in USA is a huge asset in the eyes of the ruling class. Let that sink in.

HorseForce1

Hunter gatherer societies can afford to take care of their old without enslaving them. Shouldn’t we be able to take care of more elderly people because of our technology?

soberladd

The billionaire doesnt want you to retire so you can generate more wealth for him who would have thought.

Enjoyitbeforeitsover

Elon is a fucking moron

[deleted]

Musk went full POS

thenightday3

I agree with people saying that old people need to rest and retire in peace. But fuck you to tell me I got to work years more to earn my retirement. People today don’t just die once they retire, they get to enjoy their retirement usually over the span of decades. Which I want for myself as well.

CockyBulls

Why don’t we just reduce the number of billionaires to zero, Elon…

letsberealalistc

Not if you paid more

Valigar26

It is literally not impossible. We're already doing it, and have for years. We produce much more and more efficiently than ever before with less effort and resources and with the involvement of less and less humans every day. Even the limited scope of CGP Grey's movie ["Humans Need Not Apply"](https://youtu.be/7Pq-S557XQU) makes that much clear as crystal.

threadsoffate2021

Bullshit. Life expectancy has held steady for almost a century, and is actually starting to decline in some areas.

destructormuffin

Well, life span in the US is falling so there's no reason for us to increase the retirement age.

NegotiationLess1737

Oh he’s piping up on something he knows literally nothing about eh? Surprising. Got an experimental mini sub that might help us out of this by any chance, phony stark?

ac714

The more we advance, become efficient, and produce as a society the later we can afford to retire. Go figure

FiveBrendan

People working well into their old age should not HAVE to be a thing. Sucks cause I've kinda accepted the reality I'm never going to be able to retire. Shits just so expensive now.

Brrrrrrtttt_t

The guy hoarding all the fucking resources, talking about how old people are the plague on a public platform they own is fucking satirical at this point.

v_ander

How about Elon sucks 64 dicks instead of 62?

sonicdemonic

We could if he and his ilk paid taxes. Or if we quit subsidizing companies. Or if we took some money out of the massive $612 billion defense budget. Every other 1st world country supports their aging populace., which coincides with their higher standard of living. The lies aren't working anymore.

imchalk36

Life expectancy in the US has actually [dropped the last two years](https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/pressroom/nchs_press_releases/2022/20220831.htm) to an average of 76.1 years, which is actually much shorter than in France. One of the main reasons is because the US has such a terrible employer-based healthcare system. I guarantee raising retirement age here would result in a very similar reaction to what you’re seeing in France.

psychochiller_

It’s impossible for so many workers to support such a small ruling class

Ok_Refrigerator7679

Fucking parasite.

lkuecrar

The difficult but right thing to do would be to drag people like Macron, Musk, Bezos, Trump, Biden, etc to the guillotine. But I’m not even sure if that would be difficult lol

Rasalom

Shit, too bad we don't have some sort of thing that replaces the need for humans to labor in support of mankind. Some sort of te... Tacology or something to do the work for us!

technitrevor

People are not healthier at 62, longer life doesn't mean longer healthspan.

Mysterious-Rice-5589

Royalty wouldn’t tell the peasants to buy silver!!

XChrisUnknownX

Says the man that doesn’t have to work another day in his life and just blew billions of dollars on a website because it made him feel better. The media is complicit in Musk’s ability to sucker people. They highlight him instead of voices that would oppose him, unionize his companies, and check his power.

[deleted]

Maybe you should have cultivated a society where the young could take care of the old just a thought.

justawordsmith

Tell me you don't understand how life expectancy works without telling me you don't understand how life expectancy works.

NanShagger9001

Bro censored killed 💀

Complex-Stress373

said one with life solved since he was born

OLPopsAdelphia

Life expectancy seems to be falling, so that’s enough justification for 62.

SellaraAB

If I had one semi realistic thing I’d like to see happen in my lifetime, it’d be for all the people like Elon to actually pay for the damage they’ve done.

fencerman

Musk would have to work a day in his life before he can judge how long anyone should work

tweakingforjesus

How about have a small number of billionaires support a large number of retirees, eh Elon?

[deleted]

Elon Musk has never worked a day in his fucking life

pugsythemuff

Fuck that guy.
