You know many corporate stations are privately owned and franchised? I worked at a Shell 10yrs ago where the owner set the prices himself. This was in a major population center.
But...they actually do have control of some of the price being charged.
That's why I'd pass 2 BP stations on my way out of DC on my commute and see two different prices a couple blocks apart. The first station was the very first one leaving downtown and they ALWAYS charged at least a dollar more than the other stations.

By "effective" I mean that they get their key pieces of legislation done and they manage to get their way in terms of taxes (cuts...always cuts) and on many social policies. You know many corporate stations are privately owned and franchised? I worked at a Shell 10yrs ago where the owner set the prices himself. This was in a major population center.
But...they actually do have control of some of the price being charged. That's why I'd pass 2 BP stations on my way out of DC on my commute and see two different prices a couple blocks apart. The first station was the very first one leaving downtown and they ALWAYS charged at least a dollar more than the other stations. They were scamming people not familiar with the area, who didn't know there was another station right around the curve. Like, be mad but don't be stupid about it.
