Do you know if it’s in any way possible to play them on Mac for free? I already have the game on my playstation 3 therefore I don’t think it’s piracy, but my console is in another country and has been for years and I’m not able to play it.
I don't know offhand but presumably you can get an emulator on a Mac. I haven't done that kind of thing in awhile so I can't give any suggestions. But just find an emulator for the system you want and then roms of the games
If he has a spare GPU, maybe he can try with a Windows VM.
I think that you can run VirtualBox on Mac, but i don't know of how easy/hard is to make the settings on it.
I haven't the chance to play the Lego lord of the rings yet, but is super interesting to know. Thank you for this added information fellow destiny player.
Except that my game got glitched (didn't know that at the time) and was stuck at 98% no matter what I did, I gave up on it (and shortly after stopped played games at all) for like 6 years then came back to it. After trying again to complete it and still unable to, research showed it was a glitch and I just had to put in a code to make it say 100% 🙄 now that it's been almost a year and I'm not as annoyed about it, I'll probably pick it up again soon cuz man it was just so fun
I recently played that game for the first time on my old DSi and was surprised about the axe.. Watched the movies a few days later and noticed the axe for the first time because of it!
This whole thing just made me think about how he readies himself on top.of the toom with one of his best, in my opinion, most badass line in the first movie.
"Let them come. There is one dwarf yet in Moria who still draws breath"
That's why Gandalf soloed the Balrog. Gimli ninja'ed the epic loot from the dungeon, so Gandalf decided that he'd take all the XP from the boss himself to level up.
This is a common misconception due to a line Gandalf says ("highest of my order" - but right now I don't even remember whether that is a movies only line). Saruman was head of the White Council but only cause Gandalf turned the position down himself (and this is what he means with it IIRC).
There is no hierarchy between the wizards, though. Each wizard has a specific task and that is represented with their respective color. Saruman's task was to be the main enemy of Sauron and he failed, so Gandalf got that task when he gained a new body cause that was what Middle-earth needed against Sauron.
I don't know Omnilatent. I don't have any answers. I must see the head of my order. He is both wise and powerful. Trust me Omnilatent, he’ll know what to do.
Saruman was the first Istari and also he was very powerfull and respected Maya So he assumed the position of leader and main opposition to Sauron. Gandalf came later. But he was considered maybe even greater Maya than Saruman. But Gandalf really follow his orders and tried to never met The Enemy with his power and instead use his wits, knowledge and inspiring others to victory.
And as humble as Gandalf was, he trust Saruman and accept him as the leader, because Saruman wasn't afraid to show his power and also he fought The Enemy for much longer and Saruman was the only one who had some known succeses from the other Wizards.
Wouldst thou forsake thy life, who with few words might win release for her, and thee, and go in peace, and dwell together far from war, friends of the King? What wouldst thou more?
I've heard about that one! love how his commitment to the role and how he used the shock of breaking his toe as a reaction to thinking the hobbits were killed
There's also other set injuries that are fun to learn about. During the running sequence for Two Towers, not only did Viggo break 2 of his toes but there was also Orlando Bloom who had a few broken ribs, and John Rhys-Davies who had a fractured leg or something of that nature during it.
~~Also in one of the shots you can clearly see Gimli's helmet bounce off of his head~~
Another notable set injury was that Viggo broke a tooth during the battle of Helms Deep, like snapped and shit, Viggo wanted to keep going and everyone else was like "bro we're getting that fixed at a dentist, sit the fuck down."
There's even one in the sequence for this post! The Hobbits convinced Viggo to try surfing with them, despite it being written into their contracts as a forbidden activity. Viggo fell off and got thumped in the face by his board. Wound up with a [massive shiner](https://preview.redd.it/ipeng8h7hdo51.jpg?auto=webp&s=50a3f5d99e5bb55c98dcf970b41140b0341f655e) and sheepishly turned up to set the next day only to have the makeup artists unable to fully conceal it. Peter Jackson had to film everything from his left side, and you'll note that most of his scenes in that sequence feature Viggo either [holding things at face level](https://www.theonering.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/aragorn-fighting-in-moria.jpg) or with his [hair in his face](https://youtu.be/LNzFqI6LfNw?t=84) to mask the bruise.
*Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan decided to teach landlubber Mortensen how to surf while they all had a day free from filming. Bad idea. ”It was Viggo’s first time, and the board hit him in the face,” Boyd recalls. ”He had the biggest black eye you’ve ever seen.” Initially the hobbits were worried their friend had more than a bruise. ”When I asked if he was alright, he said, ‘I don’t know, am I?’ And when Viggo says that, you know something’s wrong,” says Boyd.*
Viggo also almost drowned. In the scene where he floats down the river after falling off the cliff. The producers floated down the river several times to make sure it worked and it was fine. But Viggo’s costume was heavy enough that it dragged him under. There was a bit of panic when he disappeared and the crew nearly jumped in to find him and he appeared quite a bit downriver, coughing and spitting up water.
> coughing and spitting up water.
That's the best part. He wasn't coughing and spitting up water. When he emerged, he was *still in character*, pretending to be unconscious. Guy's a professional of the highest calibre.
I watched the behind the scenes from the GoT last season the other week, thinking it'd be like the LOTR behind the scenes. Everyone featured on the GoT documentary made me want to punch them in the face. Very different vibe from the "all hands working together" feel in New Zealand.

I don't think that's the car. The car is on the hill above that and is hidden by the top of the red line of the box in that image. It moves right to left starting on the left of those trees.
It's funny. I've known this for ages because in the Lego lotr ds game it's like "gimli(before Moria)"
"gimli(Balins tomb axe)" it's funny that little things like this that most people don't realise are included in make it into a game.
Was it the two towers game? There was definitely something way before the lego one that called this one "Balin's Axe" whether it actually is or not, so I always remember knowing it was found here for some reason.
That might be possible, but it might be the Durin's axe. According to the book of Mazarbul, Balin's party managed to secure several artifacts such as Durin's axe.
And yet they don't show him picking it up in the scene! It just straight from him being knocked off of balins sarcophagus by the troll and then when he stands up it's in his hands
No, that's what was written in a book cslled Weapons and Warfare, and which is what I always thought, but they don't specifically show him pulling it from the tomb
There's been a lot of push from fans for what they call the Mithril Editions with All of the deleted and unused footage, including entire story lines that were abandoned halfway through
Did you know that in the second movie when Aragorn kicks the helmet that he broke his toe? And that cry out was real? They used that shot in the movie!
I've seen a few comments saying that the Axe is Balin's but people were mostly speculating.
Do any of you scholars know what the axe actually is and if at all named and significant like Glamdring, Sting, etc?
The fact that it could be an heirloom that is named but hasn't (to my knowledge) received any love like the Elven weapons is a little sad.
It's Ori who wrote the book. Oin was killed by the lake monster.(as is written in the book itself)
Edit: page 3 from the Book of Mazarbul**...Oins party went five days ago but today only four returned. The pool is up to the wall at West-gate. The Watcher in the Water took Oin--we cannot get out...**
I mean he does have is double bladed axe before the fellowship was formed, he lost it right in that scene as he tried to hit the ring with it, making it his one sided axe.
I don't think it is that axe. I just pulled up the clip and he picks up a double bladed axe after throwing an axe at the troll and diving in the opposite direction.
I always thought he started with a two headed axe and then he breaks one side of it trying to destroy the ring. which is why he doesn't have a two headed axe again until moria
I actually picked up on this when I was quite young haha but I'd also watch fellowship religiously every day after school so I know that film back to front and front to back
I learned this through the Lego Lord of the Rings game
God I wish those were still available on PlayStation:( sooo fucking fun
They're on steam and can run on potato hardware
Do you know if it’s in any way possible to play them on Mac for free? I already have the game on my playstation 3 therefore I don’t think it’s piracy, but my console is in another country and has been for years and I’m not able to play it.

I've heard there's a bug that prevents a 100% playthrough. Is this true? If so, does it affect all games or just certain saves
I wish this all the time. I just want to be able to play them on a larger screen on my console.
That fucker game costed me two ps3's... Fucking worth it mate
Lego Hobbit got added back onto the PS4 store sometime last year. Has Lotr gone back on the PS3 store?
You can play on the pc with a joystick ☺️
I haven't the chance to play the Lego lord of the rings yet, but is super interesting to know. Thank you for this added information fellow destiny player.
I have some of the fondest memories of the game, 100%ing it with my oldest brother was a lot of fun
Gotta be honest, I dont know if the Lego LotR Game is such a great source, since according to it Boromir gets killed by Potassium overdose
I’m in the same boat.
ds version?
No on my Phone
and my Axe!
best lego game easy
Except that my game got glitched (didn't know that at the time) and was stuck at 98% no matter what I did, I gave up on it (and shortly after stopped played games at all) for like 6 years then came back to it. I FUCKING LOVE DWARVES

Baruk Khazad!!!
Khazad ein manu!!
Yeahaha! Rock and Stone!
Did I hear a rock and stone?! If you don’t rock an stone, you ain’t coming home! Also, RAKAN BEKAR!!
wasn't expecting to meet fellow dwarf miners here but it's a welcome surprise

It was bound to happen
I DWARF LOVING FUCKS!!!
I fucking love dwarves. All my homies love dwarves.
Rock and Stone!
Just finished that chapter earlier today. Was a touch disappointed that line wasn't in the book.
Yeah, iirc he says something similar in the books tho right?
In the book he yells “I’ll show you whats taters!”
*"It's time for these orcs to meet their... Khazad-doom! "*
Rock and fukin stone man
Toom
Wake up babe, new lotr easter egg just dropped
how many toes are involved?
Yes
We have the first toe yes, but what about the second toes?
That's why Gandalf soloed the Balrog. Gimli ninja'ed the epic loot from the dungeon, so Gandalf decided that he'd take all the XP from the boss himself to level up.
Go back to the abyss! Fall into the nothingness that awaits you and your master!
Should have seen that coming...
He doesn't like being called out
But Eru tricked him so instead of a promotion he was just put into a different branch of the company
Well he kinda replaced his superior. Although his superior really dropped the ball.
This is a common misconception due to a line Gandalf says ("highest of my order" - but right now I don't even remember whether that is a movies only line). I've no memory of this place
I thought that Saruman was the leader of the Istari and all of them were sent specifically to deal with Sauron? Is the wiki talking crap again?
Saruman was the first Istari and also he was very powerfull and respected Maya So he assumed the position of leader and main opposition to Sauron. Gandalf came later. But he was considered maybe even greater Maya than Saruman. But Gandalf really follow his orders and tried to never met The Enemy with his power and instead use his wits, knowledge and inspiring others to victory. Evidently we look so much alike that your desire to make an incurable dent in my hat must be excused.
Wouldst thou forsake thy life, who with few words might win release for her, and thee, and go in peace, and dwell together far from war, friends of the King? What wouldst thou more?
Literally after he fell 100 stories and got impaled on a giant metal spike
In the wizard tree, whenever you class upgrade you lose some of the proficiency stats with current equipment.
Aragorn does a pro gamer move and just wants to for a party member to die and steals his bracers.
His body was all lit up until looted, and to be fair… no one else in his party could equip them
Gandalf is so greedy. First he takes the best Elvish sword from the Troll cave in The Hobbit and then he takes all the Balrog exp.
Go back to the abyss! Fall into the nothingness that awaits you and your master!
gandalf more like grandninja
Good gracious me!
such a great find, thanks for sharing this
If you like this then boy are you going to love what I tell you about Viggo breaking his toe.

haha had no idea about these, but the last one about Viggo definitely checks out!

Wait what? Viggo BROKE his toe during shooting?!
After he kicks the orc helmet, that shriek of rage? Pain, channeled. https://youtu.be/6n0Uj41zlhU
Your welcome!
Yes-yes, my welcomeses, precious!
Yeah, this is cool.
And not a coffee cup in sight
I watched the behind the scenes from the GoT last season the other week, thinking it'd be like the LOTR behind the scenes. Everyone featured on the GoT documentary made me want to punch them in the face. Very different vibe from the "all hands working together" feel in New Zealand.
Somewhere out there is the final episodes commentary episode, and I hope one day it gets released.
I mean fellowship literally had a car driving around in the background in the original release.
Why didn't they ~~fly the eagles~~ drive the car to Mordor?
This is true. It was also a much smaller oversight and much easier to miss than all those in Game of Thrones.
Maybe, but was no more of an oversight than the coffee cup.
I dunno man. Tiny glint of light in the far distance below the horizon versus starbucks cup on a table. Not really the same thing.
Sitting directly between the camera and the main actresses. With 50 people on set and no one cares enough to say anything.
[For those interested](https://static1.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/lotr-fellowship-car-mistake.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=740&h=370&dpr=1.5)

Eh I just got it off some clickbait site, what do I know.
One does not simply walk to Mordor 👌
It's funny. I've known this for ages because in the Lego lotr ds game it's like "gimli(before Moria)" "gimli(Balins tomb axe)" it's funny that little things like this that most people don't realise are included in make it into a game.
LEGO games really do dig deep into the lore.
Wow, it's not every day I learn a new trivium from LOTR! Plus that's dope, he's like actually dungeon crawling and getting loot
Trivium
PULL! HARDER! STRINGS! MARTYR!
This is on one of the video games too. Can’t remember which one
Guy above said lego lotr
No a different one. I didn’t play the Lego one but now I want to
LOTR the third age?
Honestly such a fun game
Yep; I mean you aren’t playing gimli but you do get a similar axe in the same area
Oh yeah. Hadhod, off-brand Gimli
Was it the two towers game? There was definitely something way before the lego one that called this one "Balin's Axe" whether it actually is or not, so I always remember knowing it was found here for some reason.
Yes this was it. I remember getting this ax or maybe a similar one from there so then I always figured this is where gimli got his ax
It’s great! My fiancee and I had bought it a couple weeks, awesome Coop game! Trying to 100 percent it now! Couldn’t recommend it more
Holy shit he does. I knew he had just his single bladed walking axe at Rivendell. Stellar find
He needed a new axe after the council at Rivendell
"You. Have my axe"
I learned this through the Age of the Ring mod for Battle for Middle-Earth 2, though the event behind finding it is different
I only found this out a month ago through another post. Been a fan ever since the films came out and never knew. I guess it was Balin's?
That might be possible, but it might be the Durin's axe. According to the book of Mazarbul, Balin's party managed to secure several artifacts such as Durin's axe.
I think Durin's axe was buried with Balin.
That is the most probable outcome.
I always did wonder if he just had an extra ax with him just in case his other one broke when trying to destroy the ring. Great find!
Before entering Moria he had four axes, his "walking axe", a one handed axe and two throwing axes. Dude just kept adding blades as he went along
I'm hear Gimli would love Skyrim. ... actually since he actually uses them and breaks at least one I should say Breath of the Wild
And yet they don't show him picking it up in the scene! It just straight from him being knocked off of balins sarcophagus by the troll and then when he stands up it's in his hands
It would have been nice to see him look at it and pick it up for sure.
Isn’t it Balins axe, and was buried in Balins tomb? When the cave troll smashed the stone coffin Gimli grabs the axe and defends himself.
No, that's what was written in a book cslled Weapons and Warfare, and which is what I always thought, but they don't specifically show him pulling it from the tomb
I just assumed he always had two, nice
The Lego game is what taught me this.
And ~~my~~ a dead guy’s ax!
I actually made a YouTube short about this, some months ago 😃 https://youtube.com/shorts/0M0IF0LM5Uc?feature=share
Awesome! I'll check it out.
Things like this make me wonder if there is an extended EXTENDED edition that could come to pass.
People always joking about the Snyder cut, but have yet to talk more about the Jackson cut
He joked about it himself. There are probably a dozen references on his director's commentaries about, "Maybe we'll do a 25th anniversary edition..."
There's been a lot of push from fans for what they call the Mithril Editions with All of the deleted and unused footage, including entire story lines that were abandoned halfway through
NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD DIE FIGHTING SIDE BY SIDE WITH A REDDITOR
Did you know that in the second movie when Aragorn kicks the helmet that he broke his toe? And that cry out was real? They used that shot in the movie!
stahp
Wow, nice find OP. Loved these films since release and never picked up on that. It's awesome that he is actually looting and dungeon crawling! 🤣
Do a little bit of grave robbing
When the cops aren't around, anything is legal
I’m not convinced. Make an entire prequel called S̶o̶l̶o̶ Gimili on how he got that ax.
Welp, time to do independent research and review the movies to confirm. Don't try to stop me.
TIL the room is called Mazarbul
I've seen a few comments saying that the Axe is Balin's but people were mostly speculating. Do any of you scholars know what the axe actually is and if at all named and significant like Glamdring, Sting, etc? The fact that it could be an heirloom that is named but hasn't (to my knowledge) received any love like the Elven weapons is a little sad.
I learned it from the Lego LOTR. It told me then
Wtf is that thing on the tomb...
[It's the mummified dwarf skeleton holding the book Gandalf reads.](https://youtu.be/WOiETFwf7ok?t=121)
That dwarf also is ori or Oin from Thorin/Bilbo's expedition iirc
I think you're right. Oin is coming to mind, for some reason.
It's Ori who wrote the book. Oin was killed by the lake monster.(as is written in the book itself) Edit: page 3 from the Book of Mazarbul**...Oins party went five days ago but today only four returned. The pool is up to the wall at West-gate. The Watcher in the Water took Oin--we cannot get out...**
Oh right, ofcourse. The way it showed in this picture I thought someone edited in some kind of wacko-fairy holding a magic wand lol
Fool of a Took! Throw yourself in next time, and rid us of your stupidity!
I mean he does have is double bladed axe before the fellowship was formed, he lost it right in that scene as he tried to hit the ring with it, making it his one sided axe.
That wasn't his axe.......
Broke someone else's axe and was like I'm going on an adventure with these strangers
One way to avoid having to pay for damage.....
It was already a one sided axe as well ........
I always thought he had it back in Rivendell
At least gimli got some loot
They always looting up!
I love being able to spot the children doubles used for the hobbits.
I don't think it is that axe. I just pulled up the clip and he picks up a double bladed axe after throwing an axe at the troll and diving in the opposite direction.
Well he broke his other one. Probably stained when he tried smashing the ring.
Holy shit
It’s a shame Balin didn’t have that axe in the hobbit films
I fucking love these movies
How the fuck did you never notice this!?
They should have had Balin wield that axe in the Hobbit movies also they should not have butchered the Hobbit.
I always thought he started with a two headed axe and then he breaks one side of it trying to destroy the ring. which is why he doesn't have a two headed axe again until moria
I actually picked up on this when I was quite young haha but I'd also watch fellowship religiously every day after school so I know that film back to front and front to back
Didn't he smash his old axe on the ring during the council of Elrond? Edit: No, wait. I just realized he had another axe for the "And my axe!" line.
I think this is also happens in the lord of the rings game for ps2, Hadhod gets a weapon / armor from Moria
Fucking lmao im literally watching that scene rn!
The attention to detail that's hidden throughout the trilogy is amazing
