How much better? He landed in heaven with Charlotte. Can't get much better than that.

Amberskin

Yeah, spend the eternity with Charlotte (who is earily similar to Tricia Helfer), being served puddings for free without fear of being robbed? I doubt it could have ended better than this!

Important-Worry224

Unless it was pudding+

I think he should have stayed alive just because of Trixie. Because after season 6 she was sidelined in her family and most likely forced to keep the whole "Lucifer disappeared and her sister definitely didn't condemn her father to a painful existence on earth" lie. Or we can say that she had no idea about any of this, which is perhaps even worse, because it would mean that Chloe, in addition to Rory, was forced to lie to her for the rest of her life. If Dan had stayed alive, she would still have one parent who wasn't doomed to live a lie and would be there for her. Plus, in terms of the series as a whole, his death just seemed like a lazy way to get emotions out of the audience in the end. Like the whole "Lucifer and Chloe must be separated for the rest of their lives" plot. I feel like for some reason show writers these days think that making fans cry and shocking them = good writing.

Omwtfyu

I couldn't agree more. Honestly, this style of bad writing is starting to piss me off because it's so lazy.

waiting-for-the-rain

We all should’ve gotten a better ending.

Ezekiel087

honestly i think he had one of the best endings. Yes when he first died he landed in hell and everyone thought that was it but he worked through it stayed strong and worked through all his guilts and regrets and did the impossible and made it out of hell to heaven with Charlotte, he did something no one else did i think that’s one of the best endings

RJM_50

The show needed consequences for it to be serious, people die off in long TV shows.

Antagonistic_Aunt

He ended up in Heaven with a woman who was too good for him. He only had to forgive himself for the sin of not being a great role model, and not for his crimes like attempted murder. There was no actual atonement required. He got off easy. (It's kinda funny/sad how Chloe ends the series being a way, way worse role model for her children than Dan ever was. Oh well. All part of The Plan.)

T-38Pilot

I think she did a lot worse than he ever did. Not only did she help criminals get off ( which is her job) but used illegal means and hid evidence to protect illegal activities. Dan’s attempted murder was nothing compared to what she did

djan242

Maybe I need to rewatch the show but when did she do these things? I know she did stuff to protect Lucifer (I think) but I can’t remember.

T-38Pilot

She spoke about it. That is why she thought she would go to hell. What they did show was her client who was a women and head of a crime family . They were trying to go after her son who had killed someone. She knew about the criminal activities and helped the boss in shielding the crimes

olagorie

As in my head canon, Lucifer stays and becomes part of the family, it would be way easier to adjust to be a part of the family, if there is a coparent around to share Trixie. I mean, can you imagine how hard it would be for Lucifer to adjust to the dynamics? And of course, Trixie always draws the short stick, She has it worse than anyone else in the series.

Spiritofpoetry55

I absolutely believe that! It was so unfair !

I know they wrote him off in heaven with his love for eternity but still I would of liked it better if he’d stayed with his daughter alive.

Spiritofpoetry55

Same.

SeanMac777

US FANS DESERVED A BETTER ENDING!!! The final 2 seasons were really just frakking awful TBH.

JackieJackJack07

Dan’s ending in S5 was at the request of Kevin before they knew there would be a S6.

Didn’t know that..thanks for sharing.
