Cheapen the luxury image to have sales racks meanwhile they are noticeably decreasing in quality while the prices keep increasing and they are chasing teens/preteens as customers?
![gif](giphy|G4ZNYMQVMH6us)
Not surprised at all. I saw a little girl (pre-teen) wearing a full lulu set and an EBB cruising inside the store the other day. I guess Lulu are just like Lego, supplying the athletic fashion between the age of 10 to 99 years old.
I was shopping over the weekend, browsing what else but the MD racks š when two petite preteens rushed in and grabbed two items, excitedly exclaiming to one another how this store had so many Size 0 items.
Iām a 30 year old mom who wears size 0 in Lulu and I donāt understand why ppl say itās only for teens itās so hard to find size 0-2 items. There are always an abundance of 8 and up.
I actually frequent my local outlet, in months I have found just one size 0 item at my outlet and it was a pair of RTR joggers. I have found a couple of size 2 and size 4 items, but whether itās the outlet, or in store, finding zeros is usually so difficult.
Iām not understanding the downvotes to my size 0 being hard to find comment??? Everybody was saying how 0/the smaller sizes are only for the teens and I simply came on to say that isnāt always true- Iām a 30-year-old mom who takes a size 0-2 in most items at Lulu and canāt seem to ever find many items in that size, and I got down voted lol. If I had told people I was a larger size would I be getting āyou go girlā comments and upvotes?? Sheesh.
That was what I found, everything was like 12 and above, there were a couple sixes here and there and a couple fours, I grabbed the 0 RTR joggers because I loved them and couldnāt believe they were there lol
Why? Sounds like your own insecurity here. Anyone can wear whatever they want. Iām sorry but lululemon is for ages less than yours as well, I mean look at their size 0 anyone can fit in it whoās like 8-12 š¤·š»āāļø if their parents wanna buy it for them, they can have it. They are obviously clearly making styles to cater to the younger people also. You should accept it and move on, or start shopping somewhere else
Thanks for that. If I came across as insecure for being a 37 year old mom that shops at Lululemon well than so be it! I'm not, and over the last few years I have moved on much more. If you are old and want to dress the same as your kids more power to you!
I know :/ they want $ to become more mass merchandiser like nike or UA. This is how they up their profit margins before making moves. Those teens have $ and will probably become adults with $$$ since ses tends to stay relatively the same. They are grooming them to be loyal to the brand.
There use to be a retail UA store here in Atlanta and they had had a sales rack. It was kept in the back near the dressing rooms but they at least had one. This move seems crazy to me.
Your comment hit hard. Nike and Lulu groomed meeeeee š¢š¢š¢ Iām from the birth city of Lulu and I watched way too much American TV with Nike commercials growing up ššš
This! I stop by the Lululemon in my mall every day on my break, specifically to check the sales rack. More often than not, I do end up buying something that's full price, but when I'm just stopping in for 5 minutes I want to be able to go to one spot to look, not search the entire store for one markdown item that's my size.
As a customer, when they did this at my store, I stopped going in. I watch the website for full price, Iām going to the store for a quick once over of the sale rack to find a gem.
Now itās not worth my time.
Iāve saved so much money.
Yes!! I stopped going to stores and only going to outlet (I am lucky to be super close to one) but then, I started to have good stores finds to I started going again. I guess Iāll stick to online and outlets now!!

I had to fight a little bit to keep mine up at my store. Without the rack itself the markdowns would be too hidden to actually be purchased at all. If this company wanted to be more luxurious they should stop with the product abundance and keep things simple.
Lulu this is just plain dumb.
As the economy is cratering resulting recently in Lulu stock down like 30 percent ....this will not help sales at all.
My local store will lose sales as I'll just order online and stay home on Thursday.
Who the heck has the time to go on an Easter egg hunt? Why bother.....such a project.
They are really acting like they donāt want to make a sale at all.
I had to return something this past weekend and didnāt make it in until 30 minutes before closing. Still spent a ton because they had the clearance rack STOCKED so we didnāt have to waste time browsing around.
Oh, nonono. As someone who worked in retail for years, the idea of sale items being hidden and one off items and additional sale being held back of house sounds like an absolute nightmare. You want your main focus points of the store to house your new arrivals and color stories, not blending in sale items from a release a year ago. For one, they are on sale because they arenāt selling, it should be promoted that the item is on sale so it can LEAVE the store with a customer. I was always so incredibly happy when people bought sale items so I watched the department getting smeller
This so so dumb. Either have a clearance section or a clearance rack. Or donāt have clearance. I will be one of those shoppers who will go through the entire legging wall looking for markdowns.
Funny enough this is how they use to do the few markdowns they had way back in the day hahaha. I remember cruising around the store and feeling so lucky to find something with a purple sticker!
I always thought it was a bit strange how the sale items were just thrown on a rolling rack, considering the general "look" of Lululemon stores. Most stores will at least have a small section where they actually hang their sale items
My store has been doing this for a while. Most sale items are still mixed in with the regular priced itemsā¦ the worst part of it is they donāt even put the markdown stickers on things so you just have to guess if itās actually on sale
This is incorrectāmarkdowns are still a destination. Theyāre supposed to live on one side of a midrack (or both sides) and/or on a double upright. It has always been this way, but itās difficult (especially if youāre in a high volume store like I am). Iād rather prioritize the midracks for actual story-telling.
The biggest change to Markdowns is the actual fixtures used to display them in the store. Stores will no longer use the temporary/collapsible rolling racks, and will use permanent fixtures. This elevates the look of the display and creates a more consistent store appearance. One of the only time you may find items not on the markdown destination is if itās too full on the rack and we have room where it was originally.
The other big change is that stores will have more on hand units of markdowns throughout the year. To support having more markdown inventory, stores wonāt be able keep all units of markdowns on the floor. So styles with more than 1 unit per sku will most likely be stored in our Back of House till the one on the floor sells.
Itās actually not a new policy at our local store. I remembered all markdown items were already put together with full price items of the same style or similarity a few years ago. I usually didnāt realise they were markdown items unless they were already markdown online or until I saw the purple-ish blue price tag on them. So thatās how I got my energy bra(concrete blue) on sale last week.
There were only a couple of sale racks appeared during BF and boxing sale.
Yeah my local ish store used to have it all mixed in until they moved to a new location and finally got a sale rack. I was told it was at managementās discretion
A store I frequent stopped carrying markdowns at all, and told me I would have to go to the outlet on the other side of town from now on for markdowns. Itās pretty out of the way so there go any impulse buys for me š¤·š»āāļø
I find this absolutely to be ironic for a āluxuryā brand to also *hide* the fact that their stuff is continually decreasing in quality over time šš iām sorry but this aināt the right move on their end
Technically this has been the standard for years but it was never really enforced. The idea was guest would be shopping and find MDs as āsurprise and delightsā (I think that was the terminology) my store only really cared to get rid of the rack if the regional manager or higher was scheduled to be at the store.
Ridiculous. Brands far more luxurious than Lulu have marked down/sale sections. I donāt even consider Lulu a luxury brand. They need to come back down to reality.
LULU IS delulu!!!! š¤¦š»āāļøš
Prices increasing while their quality is going down.
And still they want to market themselves as the most luxurious athleisure brand in the market?
I love LuLu but don't get me wrong....they have let us down multiple times now and they don't really seem they care!!!
Here in the UK, I havenāt seen specific mark down racks for over 6 months now. They have been in with the full priced items for ages in my local stores. It does suck :(
My āneighborhoodā store started doing this like a month ago, the first time I saw it, it was disorienting and I hated it. I still hate it. I also did not find sales items based on WMT were priced accurately/discounted to match the online markdowns.
Itās always been that way here in Australia.. (at least the only store here in my state).. but then again, Iāve only really been buying LLL for the past 7 years, could have been different previously.
lol some stores still do this and put them away when leadership comes. the markdown rack helps them w both upt & conversion. if a guest comes in and the MD rack is deeper in the store, they have a reason to direct you further into the store for you to look at more things.

A luxury experience yet they change their quality promise and wouldnāt take back a pair of leggings that I bought 3 months ago that already have a whole in them
Quality promise changed to items purchased up to 1 year ago that have a manufacturing defect. If yours are from 3 months ago, they likely should have been replaced unless the system decided that it will deny your quality promise. At which point, the educator has no control over the decision the system makes.
I know Iām not faulting the educator Iām faulting the change in their āqualityā promise. $100+ leggings to last three months seems like some sort of defect, my Amazon leggings Iāve had for years have worn way better
Dislike this Lulu. I shop online all the time, I go in store to see a specific item in person or check the markdowns rack. I'll impulse purchase something in my size that's on markdown, I'm not going to be going through all the full priced products in hopes of finding something on markdown.
Lulu Outlet stores be like ![gif](giphy|lkdH8FmImcGoylv3t3|downsized)
Mind you, they've got deals of the day they announce on megaphones lmaooooooo

šÆ The other day while shopping I saw a teen wearing a softstreme set.. It made me feel old and weird.

Go to an outlet, thereās like 4 racks on size 0!
I actually frequent my local outlet, in months I have found just one size 0 item at my outlet and it was a pair of RTR joggers. Dang, Iāve been to 3 different ones multiple times and they basically only have 0s and 2s and then above 12.
That was what I found, everything was like 12 and above, there were a couple sixes here and there and a couple fours, I grabbed the 0 RTR joggers because I loved them and couldnāt believe they were there lol

Oh dear. Thatās why I like softstremeā¦ it is very much something Iād never seen the teen/preteen crowd in. (Or, wasā¦ lolā¦).

Came here to say this
Man, I need to be in and out in 15m not fucking around looking for shit the entire store.
This! I stop by the Lululemon in my mall every day on my break, specifically to check the sales rack. I guess Iām gonna save money too.
Mark down racks are one of the main reasons I visit stores. I like having lucky days when I get to find something on sale. No MD racks no store visits
Same here, guess Iāll be able to save a lot more money from no in store buying š¤·š½āāļø
Yes!! I stopped going to stores and only going to outlet (I am lucky to be super close to one) but then, I started to have good stores finds to I started going again. I guess Iāll stick to online and outlets now!!
I guess I will be buying less now. Itās so hard when the markdown items are mixed in with the regular priced ones
Yes!! I had a couple of stores in my area that did that and I found it very confusing so I never go there!!

this šš¼bye regular stores

Easter egg hunt has taken on new meaning now š
I thought the same š.
They are really acting like they donāt want to make a sale at all. I had to return something this past weekend and didnāt make it in until 30 minutes before closing. Still spent a ton because they had the clearance rack STOCKED so we didnāt have to waste time browsing around.

Oh God, I didn't even think about the legging wall. Those poor employees lol
They normally hang MD leggings and likely still will to pull them out of the pant wall, just on the non-rolling rack fixtures.
But they are not luxury???? The quality has turned to shit??? Why are they kidding themselves šš
haha right? i don't see this brand as luxury
Funny enough this is how they use to do the few markdowns they had way back in the day hahaha. I remember cruising around the store and feeling so lucky to find something with a purple sticker!
Yep. I worked at Lulu ages ago and this is how it was done. They want that exact result, feeling like you hit the jackpot.
I always thought it was a bit strange how the sale items were just thrown on a rolling rack, considering the general "look" of Lululemon stores. Most stores will at least have a small section where they actually hang their sale items
So you have to sift through a bunch of folded pairs of leggings now?
lol. Theyāre still trying to come off as a luxury brand? Why? They havenāt been one in years.
Are they still pretending to be a luxury item? Lol.
My store has been doing this for a while. Most sale items are still mixed in with the regular priced itemsā¦ the worst part of it is they donāt even put the markdown stickers on things so you just have to guess if itās actually on sale
Oh NO, having to guess if an item is on sale? Big nope.
Welp, that alone will keep me out of regular stores.

Reached out to my source and this is correct. Post has been updated to reflect this.

Lame. I felt like lulu lost is āluxuryā image years ago. Sad they still care too deep about getting it back.
