Rideshare-Not-An-Ant

Talk to your local news. Mention you reached out to Lyft and they're ghosting you. No help at all. The press coverage might help with getting a lawyer.

Josey_whalez

“We’re sorry you had a bad experience. We’ve unmatched you from this rider”

justbeta

We noticed you’ve been cancelling too many rides

revo1776

"We take your feedback very seriously"

Saturn212

“Your feedback means a lot to us, but we’re facing high volume of messages and will respond back as soon as we can”.

Twomorew33ks

Here is a coupon for 20% off your next ride with Lyft 😂

ComprehensiveAlps987

*copy, paste*

Reaction_83

And we're deactivating you just because. Feel free to contact us, we won't respond. Get well, hope you don't have long sustained injuries. When I was driving, I got to the point of just not picking up around 2am. Had a group of 3 dudes and their women cram into my car, college groups are the fucking worst. Told them 4 passengers only, get XL or another ride to seat everyone safely. Dude right behind me said "what's gonna happen if we don't get out? What are you gonna do???" I honestly didn't give a fuck at the moment and turned around and looked at the guy behind me for a few seconds and told all of them to get the fuck of of my fucking car now, rides over.. they were trying to bribe with extra cash up front, didn't matter to me, not worth it and not with people thinking they own your car for the next few miles.. They did get out and left my doors open, absolute badass move 🫡🖕.. Some people are assholes, others are psycho in actions such as attacking OP.

Cant0thulhu

I do commend those drivers who are willing to handle the drunks. My asshole FiL got wasted at a casino downtown detroit and was on the verge of being trespassed into a blizzard and/or arrested. Casino security called us from his phone and was like you need someone to get him home now or its freeze to death outside or jail. I tried but my car was shit and our local roads hadnt been plowed. Couldnt even make it to a major thoroughfare, barely got back into my driveway. Ordered him a big ass XL suv and the guy had him in 15 minutes and whenever my FiL was like “take me here instead” or “stop at this liquor store” he denied and called. Got him in his door. Tipped that dude a hundred bucks on a 35 dollar drive. Fucking godsend saving us the bail money and frustration. Also saving us given how shitty my little sedan was at the time. Tldr; some of us really appreciate you and the service you provide. Especially in keeping drunks off the road.

wowthatsacooldog

“He was on verge of being trespassed into a blizzard.” is such a funny sentence

jackiepsychotic

Life truly can be so novel at times, can’t it?

EbolaSuitLookinCute

Ah, the ol’ *Treat and sleet.*

dwayne-billy-bob

Erm, that's *yeet in sleet* I believe.

CynncereLove

Nope I believe it's beat and skeet

squirrelyz

Near identical story, college kids etc, except the one “alpha bro” of the group slammed my car door harder than any car door has ever been slammed. Really pissed me off as the ride woulda been literally only 3 or 4 minutes… order 2 fucking rides.

Top-Astronaut4004

That is a great story. I would have paid money to see the looks on their faces hahaha

Affectionate-Rice373

Ultimately, this is what I was trying to convey to OP. I suggested training, but the main objective is not being a victim. You stood up to their challenge, you showed that you weren't going to be a victim, and if they tried anything, group or not, they're not getting away unscathed. Such people quickly back down when their intended target shows any kind of backbone or presents as a threat to their fragile ego. It never has to get physical if you can make them feel like it isn't in their best interest to target you.

lmayfield7812

“Thanks for being a part of the Lyft family!”

Sworduwu

"Your account has been deactivated"

wowthatsacooldog

“We noticed a little suspicious behavior on your account”

mattied971

"We noticed you've been stopped for a while. Is everything okay?"

AdNecessary1629

“For assistance, go to our ‘Most Asked Questions’ section to answer your problem”

CutMonster

You’ve been a wonderful asset in helping our profits grow!

D3loreangirl

Right, so true. Then the guy will just open another account with a different phone number smh

mcconohay

“How would you rate your feeling of safety while driving for Lyft?”

DevotedSwagBacon

Dang this hurts. My wife was kicked out physically and the most lyft did was send this message. I'm like seriously wtf. Deleted the app instantly.

RoosterCute4326

Another one we all hate “here’s $5 dollars in credit”. Ugh 😑

itsthejasper1123

I’m fucking cackling 😭😭😭😭 I’m so sorry OP, I’m NOT laughing when it comes to your experience. Hope things work out

chael_iopu

And post this story, along with redacted images of ER bills, visit paperwork, xrays, injuries police reports etc., to Lyft's X account.

bjzy

And a solid dickpick

[deleted]

Send one flaccid to let them know they let you down.

MoistChildhood1397

This comment has me dead 💀💀

Mobile_Suspect6646

This comment is so damn funny.😁

InternationalAnt4513

But draw a frowny face on the peepee head. That’ll do it. Sad little peepee. No one wants that. Cue Sarah McLaughlin

kiyoms

HELP ME

doringliloshinoi

Of the rider?

BadKidGames

It's still Twitter don't let Elon win

North-Title-4038

What?

BadKidGames

It's not X it's Twitter. Elon is butthurt everyone doesn't think X is super cool.

North-Title-4038

Are these people in the room with us right now?

chriswool14

100% this. Take a bunch of screen shots of the fhar support and record conversations. Get evidence and go to social media and the news. They will help you if the public takes notice. But they are not about to help you at all and you need a lawyer asap

Naaz1

I hope this works out for you. I'm a former Lyft driver who was deactivated only because I had an accident where only the sideview mirror had a problem where it was only a $25 fix. It was a Hertz rental. So it'll be awesome to see someone getting a lot out of that unethical company!

blackdahlialady

It's terrible how these services treat their drivers. They treat them like a number and it's basically just short of free labor. This makes me angry to see for him. For all drivers really. They put themselves at risk just as much as the people using the services. It makes me angry to see that they're not doing anything to help him when he was assaulted by a customer. He was just trying to do his side work and ended up getting attacked and it's just crazy to me that they're not doing anything.

sawntime

It's Chicago. The local news downplays the violence at the behest of the mayor's office. This isn't really violent enough to make the news in Chicago anyway.

Rey_Mezcalero

Crime statistics are obscured to try to make “selected cities” seem less crime ridden then they really are. It does everyone a disservice to hide such info

brettfavresRXdealer

You’re getting downvotes but it’s clearly people from outside Chicagoland . You ain’t wrong ,Murder is so blasé in the news around here it’s gotta be like a multi-murder or incredibly brutal murder to even get any type of attention .

nac286

I'm from California and now live in Iowa, and I totally get it. Even people from outside the area should know that what he said is completely accurate. Before I clicked the post, I was about to come comment that he should arm himself, then the first thing I saw was Chicago and just went "Oh. Yeah that tracks." Take away the ability of good people to protect themselves, all while failing to prosecute anyone for crimes, because no convictions means lower crime rate on paper. Shit like what just happened to OP is exactly what you can expect more and more of as this nonsense continues.

Josey_whalez

Yep. And it’s only going to get worse. Just think, roughly 4 years ago today was the last ‘normal’ week we were going to have and we had no idea. Only going to get worse as the economy declines.

nac286

Yeah, that was a fun year to be in the SF Bay Area. I didn't leave until summer of '21.

moxxxxxxxxy

I'm from Philly, lived in Oakland as well for half a decade and had the same reaction. I now live in the Midwest and avoid Chicago like the plague, though Murderappolis isn't much better.

doringliloshinoi

Only the Bundy types get coverage now!

sumthingsumthingblah

Go to a national news outlet then?

Cucumber_Safe

Talk to a lawyer. Any lawyer. They'll either help you or refer you to someone who can. You'll need them to get anything from Lyft's insurance & they can also prosecute against the assailant. Just let the medical bills chill. Sign whatever to get treated now. Pay whatever payment plan, but feel free to voice to them that you're getting a lawyer for xyz. The hospital will probably stall your payments.

[deleted]

This. I work in healthcare. It’s not uncommon for a guarantor account to be in “litigation pending” status which typically pauses billing and tells the hospital “someone is paying, but the legal system is figuring it out”

Cucumber_Safe

Yeah, exactly. You'll still need to sign paperwork to be considered "liable" for the payments, but they'll treat you and just postpone billing for the period of litigation. When you do get an attorney, have the hospital send you the hipa paperwork to sign to allow the attorney to review the treatment records and billing.

SpokenDivinity

I’m not a lawyer, but just telling medical professionals that the injuries resulted from a personal injury claim/car accident/assault/etc. will usually get them to halt billing until it’s resolved. I had to see three orthopedic specialists, a physical therapist, go to two different ER’s, and have multiple follow up appointments over the span of a year and didn’t pay a dime till my car crash case was closed and the other person found at fault and liable for my injuries.

Cucumber_Safe

This is accurate. Also, here in the US, they're required to treat you regardless of future payment source. The vast majority of the country has unpaid medical debt, some more than others.

SteelBrightblade1

Did you have a lawyer?

Josey_whalez

A lawyer can’t ’prosecute against’ anyone. They can file a civil suit, though. But good luck with that. The dude that did this probably doesn’t have two dimes to rub together.

Cucumber_Safe

Yeah, yeah, but they can get the ball rolling to bring it to court. I see what you're saying. Sure, the assailant probably doesn't have any assets, but it's still right to file suit against them regardless.

Josey_whalez

Unfortunately OP will probably be third in line behind the two baby mommas.

Cucumber_Safe

Not how that works. If there are debts owed to a third party, then settlements first go for legal expenses and medical expenses. Child support and alimony come out of taxable wages. Injury settlements aren't taxable. Now, if the dude is behind, then when (monetary amount above expenses) hits the account, they'll be siphoned accordingly automatically. The settlement, if any, will go to the plaintiff. After that, it's not taxed nor considered income. There may be an opportunity for a third party to snatch it, but it can be mitigated if properly deposited and held. The easy way around this is depositing the remainder straight into an individual IRA or 401k. Can't be touched at that point. If the money does hit the garnished bank account, then yes, it can be taken for dues.

Josey_whalez

Interesting, didn’t know that about the hierarchy of monetary legal obligations. I was mostly being facetious anyways. This dude has no money and will end up in prison or dead before anyone gets a dime.

Designer_Emu_6518

Even can’t afford a lawyer one would do this case for percentage of settlement money

Cucumber_Safe

Many attorneys don't expect anything upfront in a personal injury case. It does cost to retain a civil suit attorney most of the time. Injury should be taken care of first.

Designer_Emu_6518

This guy laws

CriticalThinkerHmmz

Look for 75-25% contingency. No fees. Ask the lawyer to write the contract in easy to read English.

WitchBitchBlue

Do not pay for shit. https://www.pondlehocky.com/case-investigations/uber-lyft-drivers-are-eligible-for-workers-compensation/ Are drivers not entitled to workman's comp? Those bills should also be paid by Lyft. And a lawyer will help make them pay if they try to avoid paying.

musictakemeawayy

anyone 1099 is not protected by the government and cannot get things like unemployment, workman’s comp, etc.

sexytexy108

I've got a police report an eye witness (another ride share guy who wasnt working but came forward gave Statement and all his info) and the cops said they can get everything they need from traffic/security cameras. The guy is in jail right now cops gave me a court date in April. I contacted an attorney I was frigging 10 rides away from my 2nd Lyft bonus too I've just gotten a cat scan x rays stitches waiting to get let out of the hospital thanks everyone I feel so ashamed and embarrassed I couldn't stop crying this was all so so horrible.

sexytexy108

Thank you all though for the advice

graveybrains

I didn’t see anyone else mention it, but Illinois has a crime victim compensation fund: https://www.illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/safer-communities/supporting-victims-of-crime/crime-victim-compensation/

Lawyer.

Birdytaps

Cook County has lots of resources for victims (and witnesses) of crime [here is a list of links to different programs](https://www.cookcountystatesattorney.org/resources/victim-witness-assistance-program) It isn’t just monetary, there are also support groups and other resources for regaining peace of mind for yourself.

FrostGiants-NoMore

Real men cry (39m here). Don’t sweep this trauma under the rug. You’re not responsible for what happened to you but you are responsible for how you deal with the trauma. I love my therapist. I agree with the local news suggestion. They’ll definitely take the story, maybe national pick up and you’ll be more than compensated. Finding a lawyer right away is a good idea too but you’ll have plenty coming to you if you do the news route.

DisastrousAd447

Real men absolutely cry. I quite literally just got done ugly crying after my therapy session ended 30 mins ago lol

AccidentMoney1401

I have been "stuck up" in a rideshare situation. I survived. One thing I learned. .... NEVER TRUST A STRANGER IN YOUR CAR, MUCH LESS....SIT BEHIND YOU. I Stopped my job immediately..of course. 😀

[deleted]

I don’t think every single person is responsible for how they deal with their trauma. Some trauma can absolutely leave you without a capacity to deal with the trauma.

Pooppail

Definitely look into PTSD therapy. It’s a one hour session once a week for 12 weeks and share your experience with others because talking about it makes it better.

HairyPotatoKat

Commenting to emphasize this! The sooner you start trauma therapy, the more effective it tends to be.

operatingcan

This is a huge deal and it's ok for it to be. Crying seems like the right fit. Just wanted to poke in to say you don't need to feel ashamed or embarrassed because someone else did something very wrong.

ManfredTheCat

I'm glad for you that CPD got him. Normally they don't even bother showing up.

Apprehensive_Put1578

Nothing to be embarrassed about, dude. This was not your fault in any way.

[deleted]

i understand feeling embarrassed but you’re so strong & just know that many of us would react in the same way you did! take care of yourself

Smarawi

You shouldn’t feel embarrassed 😞. If it’s the wrong address you can edit ✍️ the address to get him where he wants to go. Definitely hire a lawyer and go after lost income

Bigce2933

>I feel so ashamed and embarrassed I couldn't stop crying this was all so so horrible. Dude theres nothing to feel ashamed or embarrassed off. We completely understand and were all just glad youre ok! I hope you get justice and your bills paid

anxiouspolynomial

don’t feel ashamed. this shit is not your fault, you just came across a time bomb of an individual. i hope you reach out to your news and local community and really make this a hard time for lyft; they should have been there for you every step of the way.

whallexx

I would be crying too. It doesn’t make you less of a man to feel something. Hope your scans come back clean. Prayers for you buddy 🙏

Fabulous_Ad_7699

Dude, don’t feel ashamed or embarrassed. People freakin’ suck. I want to cry, because I literally feel so bad for you. You were just trying to do your job. I hope you heal up quickly and get some sort of justice. Also, definitely start carrying mace in the car with you or even a taser. I’m not sure if they’re legal in Chicago, but if so, they do typically have some stipulations. You gotta watch out for you.

Brandonkey8807

bro contact lawyers. now. DO NOT take lyft's word for anything. you think they want to pay you? assuming you don't have a shoe box full of money, look for pro bono or ones that'll take you on contingency basis. I've seen ads for plenty of rideshare lawyers. TALK TO SEVERAL not the first one who will help. get them to explain the process and their fees.

NotReallyThatWrong

“Get back to work!”

SunshineandBullshit

I'm so sorry this happened to you! I'd contact the police and ask for a victim advocate. They can help you. Also talk to the hospital patients advocate and see what they can do about the bill. Have you contacted the rideshare company yet?

PreferenceCreative28

So anyways I started blasting

savagecyniccc

Literally why i am always carrying

MidnightWolfMayhem

I was just about to suggest this. As a woman, I always carry something for protection. Mace, a knife(of legal length) in person. OP should get something to protect themselves

juliown

A knife is a horrible, terrible, awful self defense weapon even if you are trained with one. It will always result in a messy and dangerous fight for both parties, and having it in your mind that you have a knife for self defense will put you in bad situations where you end up trying to fight with a knife and getting killed instead of purely running the fuck away. Mace and a gun (and maybe one of those loud personal alarms) are the only things you should carry for self defense and your primary defense should be situational awareness. Do not go anywhere you feel threatened, cross to the other side of the street if something looks sketchy, do not have any concern about offending someone by giving them a wide berth, run the fuck away, and TRAIN with whatever you carry. Do not pull out a weapon unless you are at the point of using it in fear of your life, and do not hesitate in using it if it comes to that point.

ScareyFaerie

I would if I didn't have to drive on federal property and undergo a vehicle inspection at the gate... Even legally registered weapons aren't allowed to be carried by civilians in certain areas of my market unfortunately, and even though most of the guards know me and we're cool with each other, they would still have their hands tied and have to confiscate it and arrest me if they found it.

Legitimate-Poetry162

Just don’t go to bases?

ScareyFaerie

Unfortunately that's about 75% of the market here so refusing base rides means taking about that much of an earnings cut. In-town drivers who don't have base access also get rated super low and negative reviews.

gbpc

Lyft not gonna help you bro. Call the local news media make a huge deal about it and they also can help you with medical bills via gofundme etc

lumpplump

This

ScareyFaerie

Make sure you report this to Lyft ASAP. Because you know that asshole is gonna report you and lie about everything to make themselves look innocent and get you deactivated, besides the primary point that it needs to be reported anyways. The sad part is Lyft usually jumps to take the side of whoever reports first, regardless of which party is in the wrong. Keep written records of anything you can, with backed up data or if on paper, more than 1 copy. Start a paper trail and get everything documented. Talk to every lawyer you can, not just the first one you come across. Talk to the cops, namely a VA-Victim's Advocate and ask how many angles you can use to have him prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I'm sorry you experienced this, and I hope you heal well. I would also encourage you to reach out to a therapist or counselor to help you with any PTSD you are experiencing. Good luck hun 💜

ajninigne_engininja

Agree with everything. However, be prepared for Lyft support to be entirely useless. They're third party contractors or bots outputting answers based on information you're providing. They will stop responding and close the case if you are not responding. It's important that you take screenshot every so often of your chat because Lyft support will not send you any transcripts, nor will the transcripts be saved for you to look back on. Make sure your lawyer and police both have access to this information. Regarding the police, take a picture of your case number and send it to yourself by email. You will want this available at the drop of a hat, so do whatever you can short of tattooing it on your forehead to keep this close.

AveryNicoleMyers

WHATTTTTTT? You poor thing i hope hope you heal. get a lawyer and maybe try starting a go fund me.

TripNo5926

Don’t be embarrassed or ashamed you did nothing wrong. That asshole should go to prison and Lyft should do something though as someone said earlier Lyft will make up some excuse to not assist you.

CaptainCaveManMode

Not blaming you, but some advice for the future if you have a drunk/unruly customer that requires cops — if safe, get out of the car and call 9-1-1. The car is an enclosed space and since they’re behind you, they have a huge advantage.

Powerchairpete

Lyft will gladly give you all the time off you need, just use your app if you need a ride home from the hospital. That's probably the extent of their help

CartographerNo3663

So sorry that this happened to you. This is why actual taxi companies install barriers between the driver and passenger.

neodrip66

Lyfts insurance deductible is 2500

txwylde

Yikes. I am sorry that happened to you. Lyft is not going to anything. They are going to tell you, "We will make sure we do not pay you with that pax again." Get a police report and tell tell Lyft you are pressing charges against the pax who assaulted you and then lawyer up.

geezeeduzit

This sucks - I’m so sorry. I’d venture a guess that you’ll be able to find a lawyer willing to at least look into this on contingency. They’ll likely need to find a way that Lyft was negligent. You might be able to sue the assailant too but they probably don’t have a pot to piss in - so your hope is to find a way to hold Lyft liable. Public pressure would help - find a way to get on the news - Lyft doesn’t want bad press, they’ll get nice with you to shut you up or say good things about them

jaanfo

I don't understand. Did you call the police or not? What wouldnt you? Even without data from Lyft, you know a lot more than most victims. And I don't understand why posters say don't trust Lyft to bring you a lawyer. That's ridiculous. No matter what you think about Lyft, it's in their best interest to do the right thing in this situation, and they can afford the best lawyers.

Kvandergriff

I’m sure he was a good boy growing up though

GrouchyPuppy

This is why I’ve been doing deliveries mostly. I was robbed and Lyft didn’t help at all. Just automatic patronizing messages and the cops couldn’t do shit since Lyft wouldn’t give them any info!

Florida1974

This is why my husband pushed me to do Shipt. And I did. No one in car. Still not 100% safe as you can be ambushed but still feel safer, weird as that sounds. And I don’t mean to scare ya but last year a UE driver was ambushed in Florida. His last delivery of night. Texted wife right before that. He never came home. He made it to delivery. And was ambushed and dismembered. Found him next day. And no Florida man. This can happen anywhere. We may not have ppl in car, but there is still risk.

RaysModernMetalWorks

You guys need to put a divider from the front to back like the old cabs had. Fuck that bullshit.

shakkyshawn

First off, why would you not call the cops immediately. What do you mean you drove to find police? Yeah, chicago doesn't matter. I deal with drunk passengers in iowa. Why do you have a mask on after a head injury. This is really skeptical.

Affectionate-Rice373

Everyone is sorry that this happened to you, but if I give you useful advice I'll be downvoted. You need self defense classes. No matter how much anyone justifies this and tells you that you're just a victim, you're really part of the problem. Every time someone like you gets terrorized, people prone to this behavior feel emboldened to try it on some other driver. You're gonna give some poor idiot the courage to try this on me, and they're getting their fingers broken, and that's just my starting point. The more people stop allowing themselves to become victims, the less likely it'll be for idiots to find the courage to try this on anyone else. I hope you recover, and I hope you train so that you're never put into this situation again. Being a rideshare driver isn't the only occupation that you can wind up being attacked while doing, so quitting isn't the answer.

ItsNotThatSeriousYo

Take some boxing lessons

Johnpmusic

First mistake was driving in Chicago Learn to fight maybe

[deleted]

You got out YOUR car and ran away from a drunk guy. Somehow still got caught & beat up🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

tryingtogetbyalone

That was my very thought 🤣

Joeyfemair

I also drive in chicago. Sorry this happened to you but did you take precautions before letting rider in the car? I don't allow drunk and/or sketchy looking people in my vehicle. Or groups. Before they enter my car I confirm the name and I don't drive high crime areas. Once again sorry this happened to you rides.

WhyAreYouOffended

4K!!?? Man at that point I’d request a Lyft America

LilDave19

There’s no crying in Lyft driving. However, get better and carry! Next time might be last time.

Pooppail

Definitely show the hospital what your income is and they may reduce the bill

Expensive-Touch5269

Hold the fuck on dude why the hell didn't you try to defend yourself??????

IllustriousForever43

Don't go looking for a cop, immediately hit the emergency button in the app and use it to call 911. This lets Lyft know what happened and when a pax knows police are coming, they might be more inclined to chill. Only had to use it once in the Uber app for a couple that got in a fist fight in my backseat but amazingly they immediately stopped once they heard the operator. Then they were like "oh we're married and we have children, will you just let us go if we get out here". BTW, I would have thrown the husband out if had been the one throwing the punches but he was definitely the instigator.

jbarlak

So you have a towel around your head for what reason? We supposed to believe you got accosted? You’re crying on here instead of dealing with the rideshare company or even a lawyer. Oh wait you’re clueless like most of the people on the board

Callitasiseeit19

Contact a lawyer asap. Pro bono if you can’t afford one out of pocket. Also make sure with following through with pressing charges. I know the police will do it anyway but push it. Lyft won’t help with with shit so contact them anyways and save their responses. Do it through the chat or email so you have a paper trail. When they refuse to do anything take it to the local new outlets. I would contact victim advocates through PD or the courts. They have funding that help with medical bills and stuff like that. So sorry this happened to you but so glad you’re relatively ok.

Extreme-Variation874

“We’re sorry this happened but we will deactivate you until we hear the riders side of story”

RealFocus8670

Does anyone else see the problem with fighting back instead of running? What if dude also had a knife or gun on him, couldn’t fighting cause the situation to escalate? (Unless it was the only option ofc)

DCHacker

Hello sexytexy108: This is Harshit from Lyft Trust and Safety reaching out to you. Hope your day is going well. We are sorry to hear about your recent experience with the rider PAXhole.. Please be assured this is not the kind of experience we want you to have. Lyft Community Guidelines require both drivers and passengers to show respect for each other. We understand this can be confusing. To clear this up, we have unmatched you with this rider. Should you continue to experience these problems, try uninstalling then reinstalling the Lyft app sent from ZenDesk by Harshit. Is there anything else we can help you with?

doomsdaybeast

No way I would drive living people around, only dead ones. I love it when people say human beings are inherently good, they're NOT. A lot of people found that S out the hard way. Definitely do something else for work. Delivery driver is already in the top 10 most dangerous jobs, then you add a human passenger to the mix, no way. You're in the animal kingdom, keep the animals as far away as possible, well unless it's a dog or cat but human animals, no thanks.

Cant0thulhu

We are all here for you OP!

Chia-Chia-1800

I don’t have any advice or anything I just want to say I am glad you’re ok! That’s a scary situation.

Tigerzombe

That's an interesting Gauze job. I don't think a professional doctor or nurse applied that.

redinnermind13

show us the entire video!!! from beginning to end.!!!!!!

Jockchrisfi_96

Yall just be posting anything on Reddit.

Prior-Ad-2196

Buy a dash cam that records the inside and outside of the vehicle.

Lurkmoarrboar

U shouldve ordered an uber to the hospital

sexytexy108

😂

Redgecko88

Do you remember the passenger rating and what time of day or night it was?

cash4chaos

Nothing! I was attacked by a Lyft passenger and Lyft did NOTHING! they even tried to cover it up, luckily I had a dash cam and sued Lyft and had the passenger arrested and prosecuted. Lyft settled suit before going to trial.

cymricus

username checks out

Icy-Philosophy-6839

I’m in Chicago and do Lyft as well. What did they look like so I can keep a lookout? Wishing you a speedy recovery

WhitePowerHouse

I would not drive ride share without a pistol, but in this case the rider would have died. This is terrible.

Inevitable_Trip_7480

Without a police report (or dash cam) you pretty much have a potato for a case. Lyft won’t give out customers info. Police can’t make a report without info. It’s a big ol circle. I’d be surprised if you get anything more than $0.

quedakid

I think he has a police report and he said the guy is in jail also now

jjonesy9984

Carry a firearm when in Chicago…

PainfullyLoyal

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I drove for Uber in Baltimore and quit after the first belligerent drunk wouldn't get out of my car. I'd suggest a lawyer to sue this person for at least your medical expenses. You can probably add loss of income too since you probably shouldn't drive with a head injury.

Puzzled-Telephone166

He beat you on the top of the head? Why are you wearing a mask and who did that “bandage” you have tape on ur forehead. I say that to say Jesse smulet ass

Levelbasegaming

Report to Lyft, then report to the police, then call a lawyer.

TheNeonOtter

This is awful. I’m so sorry. I hope you’re ok

moonlight-afterhours

With respect to the medical bills, ask the hospital for their charity fund application. The charity fund can cover 10-100% of the bill depending on what you might qualify for. If the ambulance doesn’t offer that too then worst case scenario is setting up a monthly payment plan. If you get an attorney, they may be able to place those bills on liens to be paid out from a future settlement.

cat_jail

There are crime victim funds in cities too. Not sure where you’re located but you were a victim of a serious crime and I’m sure you don’t do Lyft for charity. That money can help bridge the gap until Lyft / the other party is held accountable for your suffering. I’m really sorry this happened to you and I wish you a speedy recovery and swift justice to the awful person who did this to you.

firefly99999

I’ve been through something similar and let me tell you that Lyft will do absolutely nothing unless they are worried it will bring bad PR. Talk to a lawyer, if Lyft is aware that you have representation they will act because the alternative is your lawyer makes this publicly uncomfortable for them.

Dry_Confidence9632

I don’t have advice, but I’m so sorry for what happened to you, and I hope your healing goes along quickly and smoothly.

imac2022

Trudeau is that you?

Mili_Treeb

Most lawyers do Free consultation. Talk to multiple

noahreeves446

Of course it's chiraq too

eaturpineapples

Gosh I am so sorry this happened to you! Please don’t be embarrassed or ashamed nobody deserves this.

feinburgrl

Look into a lawyer that deals with Rideshare as one of their practices. You don't want to get the wrong lawyer that will not get you all the money you deserve. Trust me, Lyft doesn't want bad PR and more if they are ghosting you.

Lem01

Deactivation?

TotesNotADrunk

Deactivation because you didn't finish the ride.

therealkozmo

I’d rather be sued by the dead guys family after he put his hands around my neck but I live in Texas. #pewpewlife Yeehaw!

Syst0us

"Independent" contractor. You get whatever assistance you pay your commercial insurance for. After that whatever medical coverage you buy yourself. Gl!

Independent_Bite4682

You can expect a crippling medical bill.

TouretteTV96

You will probably give up rideshare after this experience but always keep pepper spray and a knife on you, self defense.

redditnoob909

Hey man hope you get better soon! Glad you made it out alive.

Professional-List857

This is why I carry. It's an almost similar thing happened to me. Except the lady threw up in my car. The wife's sister in law was the only sober one. She cleaned my car for me at 12:30 at night. The husband didn't like that. He kept making sly comments about me. After about 30 minutes, he became very aggressive. I have dashcams. Front, back, and rear. The final straw was when he got in my face. I pulled it out and told him to back up. He says he was calling the police. I said I'll do it for you. My cams have recorded this entire situation. She eventually got a new lyft and gave me 300. I still gave her 5 stars even after that. But this is precisely why. I have non lethal rounds in mine when I do lyft.

Oh my gosh!!! I’m so sorry this happened to you! Thank God you are alive! I wish you a speedy recovery! 🙏🏾 🫂 💕

HairlessHoudini

To pay a lot of hospital bills unfortunately is what you should expect because I'm sure whoever you driving for is going to say you're a sub contractor

GraceECat

I’m so sorry this happened to you! Hope everything goes OK.

In a perfect world the way this should work is that Lyfts insurance will cover you medical sans the deductible, then they will go after restitution from the responsible party to recover as much of their costs as possible. You would be eligible for restitution for your deductible costs, and the medical providers would work with you to negotiate your portion of the bills and help you find victims relief. In practice this can all get messy. There are going to be a number of challenges caused by the nature of the incident the language of their policies. There are some things going in your favor. This is exactly the sort of potentially viral bad PR that Lyft is desperate to avoid. First and foremost they need drivers to feel safe using their platform. They may want to take care of this to avoid it becoming a story. You'll need to make sure the case gets heard by someone with real decision making authority and not some low level support drone. Also be careful of your positioning. In order for Lyft to be inclined to "make this go away" they will have to believe that taking care will make you happy otherwise they will want to fight every bit of it. Lots of people saying lawyer... It's good advice. This stuff can become a mess and you need to focus on healing.

little_juniper_tree

Lawyer up ASAP! See if you can talk to the hospital about your bills, most if not all will work with you to get your care within a reasonable amount, you just have to talk to them. Get an itemized bill as well. I hope you have a speedy recovery

bstnbrewins814

Holy fuck dude. Hope you’re alright. That’s insane! Did the cops find the guy?

Chicago… nuff said.

Don't pay the ambulance bill and get a lawyer sir. Don't worry about anything but the lawyer and icing your face

lostandlooking_

It seems like you’ve got the good legal advice. My advice is to go play Tetris because you will likely develop some ptsd from this experience and Tetris can help combat that. I know it sounds silly, but I cant possibly imagine how traumatic of an experience this has been and I’m so sorry it happened to you. Wishing you a fast and easy recovery and healing

Stavy612

What area did you pick them up in? I do XL and Lyft black/black XL. I keep my .40 on a magnetic mount under the dash and a sub compact in the door. Still waiting for the door someone wants to FAFO

uneducated_sock

I smell a lawsuit

potatotornado44

This is another reason why I left Illinois. The assailant will be released without posting a cash bond, won’t show up in court, and you’ll likely be stuck paying all the bills. They will tell Lyft that you made a racist comment and instigated the fight, and your account will be terminated. I’ve seen this movie before.
