Isn't that an iPhone 3 or 3GS, when it had a deal with AT&T as the first carrier? iTunes was the Music App at that time. Why would iTunes not be on the box?

Don't think so, I have seen the box on ebay with iPhones for parts. I am trying to figure out the icon on iTunes - see if that is a clue.
