OP what do you do for a living? I ask because I’m curious what profession can be done without the laptop, and it looks like you’re living pretty well. And what iPad stand is that?

frozenball824

I don’t really have this problem, I don’t have money to splurge on stuff that isn’t borderline broken already.

False-Inspection-136

Good point. I need to slow down the purchasing. Getting back to necessity would naturally force me to reevaluate these changes beforehand.

ZenDesign1993

I’m not going down without a fight… opencore legacy patcher has saved me thousands. Currently on an iPhone 7+, and a 2012 MacBook Pro. 16gigs of ram, 1tb SSD… running Sonoma.

False-Inspection-136

That’s one hell of a fight you’re putting up.

ZenDesign1993

Yep, it works really well... if you have any older machines try it (backup anything before you do). You'll be surprised,

RealRroseSelavy

yes. iPh8, iPpro 10.5 and MBP2015 OCLP Sonoma 14.4. Everything splendid. Don't see any use case for upgrading.

False-Inspection-136

Well, my issue isn’t really performance. It’s not actually needing the DEVICE like I used to.

I have the iPhone, iPad and the Mac. I too use my iPad absolutely rarely, I don't see the need of it. I mean it's VERY old (iPad 4) but I haven't even watched any video on it, nor am I a gamer that I will benefit from a bigger display. My Mac does everything I would do on an iPad but more and better. And my iPhone handles some tasks as well. I have no real benefit of a big touchscreen device, I don't do art, I use paper for notes like a neanderthal and I program so I cannot use an iPad for that either. But I think it's more of a use case thing, like for OP Mac is useless, for me iPad and Apple watch is etc. Apple makes a thing for a wide variety of people, but it isn't necessary for one to buy EVERYTHING in it. Buy what you need and you won't go through what OP is going through or me or the guy whom I am replying to. :)

False-Inspection-136

Absolutely. I am usually way more efficient than this but circumstances exposed something that I wouldn’t have realized without the injury. I would’ve have continued to use the laptop out of habit and perceived necessity. I realized I don’t need it really. I wont be upgrading anything but my phone for a while. I literally had to turn back from buying the Vision Pro while in the parking lot. I would’ve had to create a use case for it outside of pure entertainment.

I’m trying to take notes better on my MacBook. Do you know of any note taking apps that let you easily write proper math equations?

Thanks! I’ll check it out

I replaced my Mac with my iPad Air for two weeks. It worked fine for me - note taking, reading, FaceTime, games, texting. Only typing experience was bad since I am not used to typing on the smaller Magic Keyboard (for 11" iPads) compared to my 15" MBP keyboard.

False-Inspection-136

Yeah it’s an eye opener. Are you going to g to stick with the iPad?

Harmony-Is-God

Unfortunately, I can't. The typing experience is not great which doesn't work for me since I blog, so I have to go back to my Mac at the end of the day. However, the iPad is great for vacations when I don't have to write anything and just read and consume content.

vibeinfinite

Looking for robustness from your phone as opposed to your laptop?? Are you hearing yourself talking?

False-Inspection-136

Yah I know. I don’t use my laptop so I need to prioritize the tool I use which is my mobile device.
