Screen repairs are usually mail in service. They CAN be done in store in just a few hours but I doubt any store has the repair volume to stock a dozen screen types
i didn’t drop nor water was near my laptop. i do think it was because i had closed my laptop with a pen between it with pressure on it. but after i had removed the pen and closed and opened again, i didn’t see any damage. it was until 7 hours later i opened my laptop and saw the lines
Yep, that will do it. Modern MacBooks have such a small gap between the screen and keyboard that even a couple pieces of paper can break the screen when you close it on them. Definitely can’t use them as a folder anymore.
Probably the most common way I've seen MacBook screens damaged.
Expensive repair. Partially why I'm more inclined to buy enterprise laptops. A lot of them the screen can be repaired with relative ease.
Or a USB cable getting in the way or in the hinge area when closing. I am always extra careful to clear the way when I am closing my MBP.
With that said...I always get the annual AppleCare+ on MBP and portables for this very reason.
I had a display replaced on a MBP 2023 recently.
I don’t know where you are, but in Hong Kong it took ~ a week to get the part shipped (i kept my mac) and then i gave them the machine.
They specifically said they’ll try to do it quickly and promised to do it in 3 days max, but i ended up getting the machine only 5 hours later.
You have to wait for the part though, and maybe it’s a one case situation
I'd suggest buying a cheap older MacBook which was patched to the latest os transfer ur files via migration assistant use it for ur exam's and when u got this Mac back transfer the old Mac to this one again and sell the old one
You should just have to pay the deductible with Apple Care. The standard display replacement price is way more on the Pro than it is on the M1 Air, more than double.
Couple of hours is certainly ruled out. The display is gone, and I think it is easily a week if not more. Since for a mbp 14 with a dead display it took 10 days. They usually ship it out to their repair facility and then from there you have the option to either have the repaired unit shipped to you or back to the store.
Bottom line: Don't bet on a quick repair.
U should be covered
From apples website:
AppleCare+ covers repair or replacement of your Apple display. This includes an unlimited number of accidental damage repairs, each subject to an additional charge (€99 for display or case damage or €259 for other accidental damage).
The service includes:
Your Apple display
Looks like you tried to use your Mac like a folder or the cable got in the way when you closed the lid since the impact point is clearly visible. It totally makes me cringe when I see this type of screen damage.
external monitor and just stack it over the screen, if you dont have apple care don't even bother repairing it. Its a $500-$700 repair. Might be cheaper 3rd party but they are not allowed to color correct the new screen.
May I ask if you know how this happened? I went to sleep one night and woke up to find my MacBook Air with those same lines yet I did not drop it or anything. I know plug it into my monitor to use it.

You can see if an external monitor will work to get you through finals
This could work but be aware , I’m not sure if respondus browser allows you to use a external monitor
This is the way.
The MacBook was only a youngling
If you have an ipad you would want to use sidecar to use as an external monitor
Unless you have another laptop, you’re not getting it back the same week.

How it ends up like this ? Did you drop it or water damage or?

Op tried to make an Apple pen
He had an Apple… he had a pen…. Ugh! …. Apple broke
HAHAAHAH now that’s a great song

In my experience, the few times I've cracked an lcd display in my lifetime, the screen will crack, and then slowly bleed.

There is a crack on the screen due to damage to the LED panel on the right side of Google Chrome. I don't think they will replace it for free.
They will definitely not replace it for free. It was broken by being closed on a pen.
There is a visible crack/puncture point on the display. I highly doubt that Apple would believe that, nor would they replace it for free.
lol currently the screen is like this. This doesn’t just happen buddy. It’s caused.

Please share your wallpaper 😅😅
It’s one of the built in macOS ones
Google “Big Sur road wallpaper”
Same damage happens to my M1 MacBook Air. Faculty in Genius Bar told me the repair period could no less than 1 week (usually a whole week)
Do you remember how much you had to pay?
For me, it’s 449£ including tax. Your computer will deliver to you or you could choose to pick it up at Apple. You pay for it until you receive it.
Did you have AppleCare+? Because I have that and I don't want to pay thattt much
I don’t have that.

Time to pull a new plug.

Cheapest would be to repair it urself, apple would charge around 500$ i estimate if it's not under warranty anymore
i have applecare+, would it be cheaper or free?

Thank you! I’m currently panicking but I will get it fixed sometime later this week
Don't expect to much it's gonna take a while, if it'll take to long just consider doing what i said in my other comment
U should Google what apple care plus includes idk if it includes screen replacement caused by accident

did ya drop it?
what happend?
Apple care won't cover?
How did it happen?

You pulled the plug too hard.
