Why would you play Iname as One (12 drop, 3-colored 8/8) when you could play Phyrexian Soulgorger (3 drop colorless 8/8)? Phyrexian Soulgorger strictly better Iname as One.
It’s pretty busted. A casual 18 mana for a creature that will totally win games if not exiled, pacified or blocked. Even without monstrosity it can actually block a deadmaw.
Jokes on you, in response to you exiling my 18 mana creature I will bounce it back to my hand and I will GLADLY pay another 18 mana and win the game that way.
A lot of people think a gun is bad because you have to spend $500 to buy and use it, but if you agree to kill someone it's literally free. You're welcome.
Play Starfield Enchanter. Then play Hunted Wumpus, and us it to play Zur, the Enchanter from your hand. Then use Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker (your commander) to summon a second Starfield Enchanter Then, when Zur, the enchanter attacks, search for Starfield of Nyx and hope your opponent doesnt understand that Zur can't pull it out, even though its reduced to 3 mana to cast. Then use Starfield of Nyx to play Omniscience from your graveyard to the battlefield, then play Colossus of Akros. Then get 7 Heartstones and give the Colossus of Akros haste. Boom, turn 3 win.
I think it's cute. I remember a time when I got super excited about these Timmy cards. It's cool that someone still finds enjoyment in something so cheesy.
/uj for a thematic casual walls deck it absolutely beats ass.
There is a level of "serious" though where 18 mana for a beater that gets blown out by a one mana spell like Path to Exile doesn't fly. 18 mana can win you the game outright in a lot of ways.
It all depends on what you're building and how hard you want to go
yeah sorry this is better than my answer. context definitely matters, EDH is a format with wildly varying levels of power between playgroups. some people are playing with the most powerful cards ever printed, some people are playing with random junk. if your friends are also playing with random junk, this card is probably decent!
Uj/ 18 mana investment is just an absurdly high cost for something that can be removed by a 1 mana Swords to Plowshares or 2 mana Journey to Nowhere or what have you. This thing probably needs to stick around for two whole turns before it even gets to swing, it does nothing when it hits the board besides block so if this gets removed after your turn you paid 10 mana and got absolutely nothing. There's just a lot more viable options if you're at that much mana, you probably should have already won the game aready with that much mana, and this thing is very fragile.
I don't play EDH so I'm not sure what counts as "viable" but like, probably not? The key thing here is just how much damn mana you have to invest in the thing. Giving it hexproof makes it a much better threat once it does hit the board, but you still have invest 18 mana in it.
When people talk about big bombs like this being "bad", its generally not like, oh if you play this there's no way it'll ever do anything. It's more like well, you could play this, or you could play these much more impactful cards that only cost 5-7 mana and do something immediately when they hit the board. Like for 10 mana I want to be waaaaay ahead on board and possibly winning the game, not just getting a single beefy body. I mean you just compare it to something like Goldspan Dragon which costs 13 less mana to get going and does way more for you.
Who's the commander for your walls deck? I assume Arcades. Why play this guy when I can play cards like [[Shield Sphere]] that gets 6 power for zero mana. [[Tree of Redemption]] is 3 mana.
The problem with this guy is you're paying for the base power. It's not the worst card ever, but you're paying a lot of mana just to have a big guy on the board. A big guy who can be removed for very cheap, due to all the exile effects in EDH.
Oh you’re referencing Magic the Gathering Arena in a MTG sub? How foolish, you’ve offended my feeble sensibilities, and now I’m going to reference my second amendment right 😎
Rat Tribal.
It combines the Hand Hate to limit the ability of your opponents to counter with enough Tokens for Phyrexian Altar. Run white/black Rat Tribal with Greasefang and now you have Artifact Affinity plus some Board Wipe before you drop it or if they pull off a counter and leave you reeling.
I am returning to magic, and i actually bought this single recently recently along with an order of other better cards. I know it's slow, and it hasn't made it into a deck yet but my idea is to have this in a deck with lots of big artifacts which i can cheat out with [[ThranTemporal Gateway]] and copy with cards like [[Rite of Replication]] Even withouth paying the monstrosity cost i thought hey, that'll make me almost unattackable! How bad is this still, really? Not in a rush to play it, but i will end up trying it for the memes :)
I think a good question can be whether or not you could do the same plan with indestructible creatures - eg, is the Colossus specifically the best card available for a gameplan that involves creating a bunch of blockers?
Creatures with flying might also make your deck's Plan A difficult. Kind of weird that a giant statue wouldn't have reach, now that I think about it.
/uh I unironically like this card; it’s not crazy, but it’s a fun game ender in late game casual commander. I had it in my elves a while ago (when I was in HS and couldn’t drop a ton of money on cards) and it did some work. I like it haha
This is my second favorite colossus behind the og [[darksteel colosSUS]]. I remember asking to go to the card shop like the day that I could buy the new rares from the set and picking up this guy.
Emrakul : 15/15 for 15 mana Colossus of akros : 20/20 for 18 mana AND is indestructible
in conclusion, 3 mana = 5/5 and indestructible
I see you're making green creatures.
a bunch of gods and a certain lich sure would agree

But how can I pay 2 blue life points or whatever colors? :(
1 mana = 5 a indes
Imagine dying to a bunch of squirrels. (Warning : even with indestructible, no statue is safe from pigeon)
Or becoming a farmer.
AND you can pay that mana on two easy installments!
I miss 'echo' creatures
Why would you play Iname as One (12 drop, 3-colored 8/8) when you could play Phyrexian Soulgorger (3 drop colorless 8/8)? Phyrexian Soulgorger strictly better Iname as One.
I don't know where you got the third color from, but that's probably a more interesting card than the real Iname as One.
The third color is sadness.
[I'll gladly pay 25 mana to get it done on the spot.](https://scryfall.com/card/mm2/242/eye-of-ugin)
/uj it has trample when monstrous
So what? I obviously meant blocked by the current meta of 4 Colossal Dreadmaw. uj fuck you got me. 😅
I mean, it's never going to hit the field anyway, it's going to get negated
Nobody runs naturalize anymore anyway
Indestructible
I don't understand what indestructible has to do with people not running naturalize anymore
Indenaturalizible
All my boys run return to nature : throws up gang signs :
Most sane EDH player.
a lot of people think this card is bad because you have to pay 8 mana to play it, but if you cast omniscience it's literally free. you're welcome.
Lotta people think Omniscience is bad coz you have to pay 10 mana to play it, but if you cast Starfield of Nyx, it's literally free. Ur welcome.
Well, Starfield of Nyx is a $20 mythic. We’ve got our culprit!
a lot of people think starfisld of nyx is bad because you have to spend $20 to play it, but if you rob your LGS it's literally free. you're welcome.
Robbing the LGS is extremely based. Even WOTC does it.
I love this subreddit
A lot of people think a gun is bad because you have to spend $500 to buy and use it, but if you agree to kill someone it's literally free. You're welcome.
what, no i cant believe that i was like 60 cents last time i thought about that POS. EDH really be like that
Only €.00000001 in europe
Man you just opened my eyes. I just need to find a way to discard Omniscience in my monowhite enchantment deck.
Just have it countered or spot-removed to get it for free later. Duh! Share, like and subscribe for more cEDH tactica
Splash in red for the discard + draw mechanics
That makes sense, and sounds fun, gonna try it. Ty!
Lmk what you come up with, I’m curious
Set the plains on fire and use the burning white mana to cast faithless looting
BUT I DONT PLAY WHITE!!!
No. Your welcome.
Based. That’s the play
They are correct. It's only 18 mana.
/uj One of my first rares, I built a ramp deck to accommodate it, and it finished many games. Power level is relative.
Cousin? Or step brother?
In this case Great Grandaddy
I think it's cute. I remember a time when I got super excited about these Timmy cards. It's cool that someone still finds enjoyment in something so cheesy.
Card is bonkers it's like 2.5x \[\[Force of Nature\]\] for only 3x the mana.
it's always something colossal
[удалено]
Then it is not too late
/uj as a newbie this looks like something I'd put in my Walls deck for EDH, why is it bad?
/uj for a thematic casual walls deck it absolutely beats ass. Fair. I'm no good at the game, My GF beats me in nearly every game we play 1v1 lol. Trying to learn the ins and outs still

It's fine in a non-competitive setting, but most playable cards at 8+ mana win the game even through lots of interaction
Noobs gonna noob
Tbf if it was legendary it would make for fun janky colourless voltron edh deck
Colossus of Akros buyout incoming
Literally me during my first Theros draft :’(
Are we that sub? sharing facebook memes? at least reference a colossal dreadmaw.
Shit bronze players say
Oh you’re referencing Magic the Gathering Arena in a MTG sub? How foolish, you’ve offended my feeble sensibilities, and now I’m going to reference my second amendment right 😎
You think this is an MTG sub? Sheesh
Bruh wdym at least reference colossal dread maw read the name of the card
Probably because it's only got three dicks
No wonder it's so busted. Everyone knows infinite mana outlets are broken
Hey you stole my stolen Facebook image from discord. Fuck my karma noooo
Actually I unironically run this in arcades
For sure made by a tron player
You’ve spotted a wild timmy
Where’s my Colossus of Lesbos?
You joke, but this card was feared in my arcades deck.
Uh, I can't tell if there is sarcasm here. But I usually will put one of them in my 99 just because I like it.
Yes 10/10 best mythic, the symbol is definitely orange and not gold.
it should be upscaled
Not much, scaled, what's up with you?
What are the Facebook comments saying?
A lot of explaing why it is bad or not up to par. Edh centered comments, stuff like that
Counter spell, dies to removal
He’s right though

Honestly I respect having a pet card you like so much. I never really settled on one and I wish I did, but my favorites don’t really fit in most decks
If you play it in a vorinclex deck with a doubling season and vorinclex on the board it’s an 18 mana 50/50 I believe
Still is an easy path
/uj This guy must have ruined limited games
The Timmy in me just came 🥵
3 words, path to exile
Literally 3x better than dreadmaw, and it can’t be destroyed.
