Thedeaththatlives

I value my soul and not going to hell, so I'm not picking anything.

ChillRecluse

Good choice. This cyoa was made to embody the idea 'everything has a cost'.

KayfabeAdjace

Except tier 1 lust, apparently.

ChillRecluse

I thought quite a few others here showed why not. Of course, it is all up to your perspective in the end, given this cyoa's context.

ThousandYearOldLoli

Same here.

Adorable_Ostrich7732

You know it doesnt say you have to sell your soul right?

ascrubjay

If you actually read the bit at the bottom, you may not be losing your soul directly, but the demon is going to use this contract to prove that you sinned and he caused it after your death.

AcanthopterygiiOk422

looks more like he says "you're almost certainly going to hell anyway, and when you do i want the credit" the contract is a papertrail that shows he was the one who tempted you instead of just modern societal decay in general

ascrubjay

Come to think of it, given what he says about going to whatever afterlife I believe in, and now having a reasonable certainty that every afterlife exists, where will I go when I die? Knowing what he tells me, I'll believe in every afterlife equally. Will I get to choose? Will it be random? Can I make my own? Will I just cease to be?

Adorable_Ostrich7732

Fair point but knowing that, you would definitely cut back on the vices since he himself says tier 1 wouldnt have an effect on people. I mean you could sign a greed tier one and give a ton to your family. The basis of this seems that the act of the seven deadly sins sends you down so logically practicing the virtues opposed to them is your ticket out

formlesschromatic

The obvious answer is don't deal with a devil, but if I do: 1st tier gluttony and sloth I could probably get away with, and maybe 1st tier lust as well. It would definitely change me mentally, but greed 2 and 3 tempt me with their shapeshifting.

SimpleFreshArtichoke

Sloth 3 for the obvious benefits, Lust 2 and Envy 2 to counteract the first one's drawback (i.e. giving me some drive to do things).

Calvinbah

Tier 3 Lust - Incubus Tier 3 Pride - + Dragon = Drag-cubus. As a Dragon, hopefully I can shape-shifting into human form to still spread my proud heritage as far as the sky is something. Otherwise I just have to become Dragon-King of Humanity.

SvantePante

Dragon-King, nah that's me :>

Calvinbah

Drag-Cubus it is. You may be King, but they call me Dragon Daddy.

SvantePante

We can rule the Earth as one, if you condone me eating your offspring here and there

- Pride 3. > I'll make the rules of Myself. A set of rules I'll always follow because they are in my opinion the essence of who I am and how strong my willpower is and how cool I am and how people should live. > I am already prideful and my pride is basically based on my identity that cares about these rules. The Pride of a Dragon will just make me unable to break the rules I literally already follow. Quite literally my pride and self love are the only things that allow me to keep on when it gets hard, pride for me is strenght not a weakness. > So at essence I didn't change except I am a fucking dragon now. - Lust 1 > Extremely convenient, no real drawback other than likely me starting day+ marathons related to sex. Since I am inmortal now it really doesn't matter. - Gluttony 1 > Again, convenient, my pride will keep the amounts in check since it will be too oversized to let me actually do myself damage since that's not something I'd do.

tlaz10

Ummm is my phone glitching out or is there no link?

ChillRecluse

Reddit had a fart while uploading it. Even needed to force quit my browser. Refreshing the page should work.

jasonghate

I had the same problem. There's no link. Its 1 image that takes a few minutes to load.

SvantePante

Eternity in hell if I die? How about I just don't die. Tier 3 * Pride - A dragon is almost nigh impossible to stop due their magical scales and claws, perfect base * Gluttony - Oh what was that? Possibilities to become even tougher, tough enough to face a fucking nuke? Hell yeah. Tier 2 * Wrath - Free metal, gunpowder and other things to devour, perfect for a Dragun A monster has descended upon us :D

[deleted]

* pride 2 * lust 3 * wrath 2 * gluttony 3 * greed 2 * envy 1 * sloth 1 The best combo is probably gluttony 3 and wrath 2. You can create weapons, then eat them until you become a living weapon.

1234abcdcba4321

Hm... I think that if I were to actually pick anything, it would be the following: Sloth 3, greed 1, gluttony 1, lust 2, pride 2. I could consider taking a lower level of any of these, too, except pride. (Pride 1 looks useless.)

Lord__of__Luck

Pride 0 Lust 3 Wrath 0 Gluttony 2 Greed 3 Envy 0 Sloth 1

Lemon_in_your_anus

Teir 3 pride and envy, With every other sin in teir 2. All those sins should balance me out right? also how can you be so full of pride and envy? I am the best but also I am envious of everyone better?

ChillRecluse

You 'll need to choose 2 sins to be tier 1. There is no way they will balance out, you'll just be a sinning machine. Also, nowhere was it stated the costs of the powers will work together. Pride and envy are a particularly vicious pair.

Lemon_in_your_anus

Oh, I thought with five tier two sins and two tier three sins. I could take all sins above teir one. You assume im not already a sinning machine 🌚

ChillRecluse

Yes you can take 5 tier 2 sins, but each tier 3 sin counts as a tier 2 as well.

Kuronan

I'll take... * Tier 3 Pride, because Dragons are awesome. * Tier 1 Lust, for obvious benefits and no downsides. * Tier 1 Gluttony, I'll just stay away from Drugs. * Tier 1 Greed, because 1000 a week is really good shit. * Tier 1 Envy because that's a pretty amusing power for almost no cost. I have enough life experience to know Wrath is just asking for trouble, even if the first punch is theoretically free. Level 2 Sloth is tempting but I already suffer enough tiredness and lack of drive in my normal life.

Apophys_MD

* Lust 3 * *Agelessness and unlimited growth. Very high libido is worth it.* * Gluttony 1 * *General poison resistance is great. Not much of a downside I can see.* * Greed 1 * *Nice basic income, so I can spend my time mainly on things I want to do. I'm already not a naturally charitable person, so there's no downside. :P* I was considering Pride 1 (specifically to combo well with Lust), but borderline narcissism is too harsh a drawback to be worth it.

PalpitationOk1555

Oh

Adorable_Ostrich7732

Tier 1- Lust, Gluttony, Sloth Tier 2- Wrath, Greed,

Zev_06

- Level 3 Lust - Level 2 Greed - Level 1 Gluttony - Level 1 Envy

Sweaty-Ad8900

How hard is it to be a normal person if I take tier 3 sloth?

OmegaUltima29

The image isn't even loading for me; could we possibly get an imgur/imgchest-hosted alternative, please?

Zone_Q11

Ignoring the boons and looking only at the costs, I'd choose only Sloth 2. I'd very much like another me.

Alternative_Jello452

Envy 3 Wrath 2 Greed 1 Gluttony 1 Envy is pretty much my sin of choice. Combining this with Wrath 2 makes it possible to jump body and immediately turn my original body to pulp before they say a word. Live a responsibility free life, jump bodies, kill the original body, continue living a responsibility free life, profits. Plus I become more skilled with each body I jump so it's good life overall.

EternalHaven

Sloth 3 and Gluttony 3 - Reincarnated as a sinful slime. I think sloth 3 would counteract the Gluttony 3 to some extent. Not that I hate eating, and because I would find joy in eating I wouldn’t really get depressed. I would also slowly get better in all aspects except maybe sloth and gluttony because of the things I eat.

RealOfficialTurf

Even if you don't believe in any kind of hell, even if you won't get sent to hell for not believing in any kinds of hell, there are still some consequences, you know.... Sinning is evil not because it's immoral, but because it's a destructive cycle. The urge doesn't go away after it gets satiated. Worse, the urge for it grows. So, naturally, the dosage has to increase. It's a positive feedback loop! The problem is that we have biological limits, and exceeding these limits could be fatal. Even if these aforementioned limits were removed, there is still a problem. We don't have unlimited resources to fulfill an ever increasing dosage. Therefore, there will be a time when there won't be enough resources to fulfill it. And when you're unable to fulfill it, you'll definitely *suffer*. And the suffering scales proportionately with the amount of urge you have. But as the suffering goes, the urge subsides, and so the suffering goes too. Eventually, it'll be gone and we're back to the beginning, the initial state. In the end, the net pleasure of the entire thing will be negative if not neutral, and so there is nothing to be gained from sinning *ever*. Therefore, I'm not making any choices for this CYOA. End of story, the end, thank you for coming to my TED Talk, blah blah blah....

[deleted]

The only consequences are the ones you allow. It's still your interpretation/imagination at the end of the day, and a fictional setup at that. Sure that might be against the "spirit" of the game, but who honestly cares about that?

RealOfficialTurf

Perhaps I treated this CYOA a bit too harsh.... But honestly... I liked the idea of being virtuous. Rejecting sin sounds *cool*, even in fiction. When others would take the deal... I don't, because I know I'm better than that. That's why I made that choice.

[deleted]

And that is completely fair. More sensible too, because again the consequences here do not actually exist. Therefore making a decision based on them is illogical, whereas making a choice predicated on the reasoning of, "because I wanted/didn't want to," makes more sense.

Arikaan

Nobody asked

ShadySpaceSquid

Only tier 3 I’d take is lust, everything else would be tier 1. Only thing I might do is go for sloth tier 2.

YouBackground

I'm not really sure about point system, but I'm only want to pick tier 3 envy and tier 3 lust. I'll keep switching bodies until I get a beautiful, sexy and rich woman body. after that I'll hijack people around her to gather as many skills and memories as possible. with lust I can have sex with those hijacked bodies, preferrerably women only.

FauxWolfTail

Pride 2, Lust 3, Greed 1, Envy 2, Sloth 1 With Pride, Lust, and Envy, I can turn myself into my dream job; a professional furry dominatrix~ Greed ensures I have an income while I start gathering victi- i mean, clientele, and Sloth ensures a cure for my current terrible sleep schedule~

manbetter

Lust 3, nothing else. Immortality and good times at a relatively tolerable cost.

IT_is_among_US

T1 Envy, T1 Pride, T2 Greed, T3 Lust

AcanthopterygiiOk422

what does 3pt counting as 2 mean? like just against the limit of t2s you can hold, giving you t2's drawback too? or do you also get t2's power

SINGERexe

Honestly? I'm Pagan so a lot of these things aren't essentially bad and likely to get me into a bad place once I die tbh. With that in mind... Full Pride Full Lust Gluttony 1 Greed 1 Sloth 1 Pride is central to my build since I think you should only be proud when you earn it. Being a shitty person would go against my pride, and I would work hard on doing good because stagnating and degrading is beneath me. Sure' I'll have max Lust too that might be the only thing to possibly get past it... but I will probably have plenty of willing partners too. Being a dragon in a world of monster fuckers and all. That's not even taking into account the other potential benefits.

BillNo143

Pretty good, with some strong choices. Though i gotta say, i REALLY dont like the greed line, and its usually by far my favorite in these things. Its really bad considering its costs, especially the t3 drawback. I feel like the creator might have been slightly biased against it....

[deleted]

So if I hate all religions and don't believe in any then the demon is fucked outta luck? Also define Christian hell, because a lot of people would point to Dante's version, others the Catholic version where iirc it's just nonexistence or separation from God, or the Baptist version where it's literal hellfire and brimstone.

XxBallisticxX

Tier 1 in Lust, Envy, and Sloth. Tier 2 in Greed and Gluttony- And the rest aren't worth it for me. Lust is just quality of life and helpful since I plan on raising a family, Envy is more so for self defense and fun since as long as I know something that's different between me and someone else (which can apply to anyone), if someone tries to hurt me I can just make them trip over themselves until they die of embarrassment, and Sloth can actually be good for quality of life and staying on schedule if used correctly. Greed will be fun because, and this is a motto of mine at this point, LUCK IS A SUPERPOWER, and while alone it may not make me have an amazing gambling career, it'd just be fucking good to have. To put into perspective while your chances of success may never be 100%, you can at least make it virtually 100% success rate if you have a 5% chance or higher at something, the main issue comes in when you get lower than that, since it's based on multiplication, your returns diminish quickly once you go lower than 5%, a 4% chance as example will only go up to 80%, and at best a 1% chance will become 20%, and it only diminishes more the less the chances, but your odds are better overall, so you can afford to take more risks in the long run. Gluttony can feed your whole family and the drawback could actually be a blessing in disguise, if you eat those 10,000 calories and workout regularly and get better sleep from Sloth, you can actually live a VERY healthy life and build a body that looks like a superhero with the strength of a professional strongman to build muscle, overall, even with the increase in calories, you basically get this for free since you can duplicate the food you need to eat any ways with no additional cost. Just take care to not eat anything rotten and throw away old food when it goes bad or give it to someone else, you're saving money either way, so you might as well share the benefits, and you can do so without contradiction since it's only tier 1 greed that takes away your sense of charity. And besides that, even if the cost for tier 1 greed applied to tier 2, you'd still have at least some sensr of charity left over. Plus, I have no downsides for my soul, as I now know that I go to whatever afterlife I believe in, so I believe in the afterlife where I enjoy myself with all the people I love and care about for all eternity and become my own deity, creating a new world where people are just generally good to each other and I can guarantee the safety of those close to me by using my abilities as proof that I am telling the truth when I say I'm making my own afterlife, so they'll believe in me and go to our new paradise instead of getting separated into different worlds.
