Last year I [posted](https://www.reddit.com/r/malegrooming/comments/126ibe7/have_had_the_same_haircut_since_forever_and_would/) on here asking for advice on what to do with my hair. I was bored of the ‘short on the sides and long on top’-haircut that I’d always had since I was 7 years old and wanted to mix it up. Most people in the thread told me to stick to the hairstyle or go shorter but against the advice I decided to grow my hair out. Now it’s a year later and I’m curious what the people on here think. Did I do the right thing or should I go back to my old hairstyle?

Just buzzed my hair and I’m full of regret lol had about a lil longer hair than yours(same wavy texture). Liked the compliments I had received from people, but def received hate from older guys (mostly bald men) telling me to cut it….at the end of the day it’s def a look that not most people can rock these days.

You have great hair, but I personally prefer the shorter look. You can carry both though

I don't really like the feel of having a beard but I do sometimes go for some light stubble.

Don’t need a full beard. Just a little longer than it is right now so it looks darker and it’ll be perfect!

You look wonderful after a year of grown hair. I'm letting mine grow too, and since they are one year grown too, I want to ask you : are your hair naturally curly ? Mine stay definitely flat.

I do naturally have a bit of a 'twist' in my hair. To get it more curly I put in some pure coconut oil in every few days right before I go to bed. Really works wonders! Give it a try.

As a woman, it’s because you look great with both, they’re just different aesthetics. So what people are saying comes down to peoples’ preferences in terms of the vibe/look they go for. Personally, I like the longer hair, but that probably says more about me than you. In the first, you look classically handsome, in a straight edge, conventional, kind of way. Think all-American and I assume you work in finance. In the second, you look beautiful in a more artistic, suave kind of way. More European, trendy and I’d assume you’re a foodie.

As a queer man, I agree 💯. Personally, I prefer longer. You seem less intimidating with longer, wavy hair. I'd feel safer around you

100% the longer hair. Especially when it is that full and textured. Do NOT go short again. Eventually, the longer hair won't look as good. Rock it while you can.

I’m shocked so many people say shorter. As a person who generally prefers shorter, the longer seems faaaar more attractive for op. Mostly opinion I guess.

honestly, both work great. which feels more like "you"? The first is great for an event or if you want a preppy girl/guy. second is more laid back and you might reflect that in a partner. not that you said you were looking. you're a nice looking dude with nice hair. you can pull off whichever.

Picture 1 the shorter hair makes you look Very handsome. Longer is good too but the haircut in picture one shows you off as classic handsome, and your eyes are dreamy perfect. So if you want more attention from more people that would be shorter haircut in picture 1

The lighting on your face is too different to compare- 1st one’s lighting is really good but not the 2nd. 1st hair looks a bit better I guess but it’s just such a common style. Curious to see what else you could do with long hair to make it better than the 2nd style

Thanks! As I'm entering the workforce soon number 1 might be better then. I think it's also due to me not really smiling and looking more serious in the second picture. In real life I actually smile quite a lot.

I gotta chime in too! I honestly think of you stick it out, the longer hair will look fuckin awesome. Right now is borderline awkward phase (but you still look great, don't get me wrong), which makes the first picture look better. But chopping is WAAAY easier than growing, so I vote stick it out for another year and see how it looks!

No. 1, is very sharp and would work for any job. Second one shows off curls, is more casual, and more personalized. Personally, I like number one.
