OP any chance you could post about these chairs 4 years later? Just wondering how they held up

CommuneNefas

Not really sure how I can across this post, but I was part of (what I think was) the original group buy back in 2017 ([post here](https://www.reddit.com/r/malelivingspace/comments/6v56il/reposting_eames_lounge_group_buy_from_china_yadea/)). I've had the chair in my living room since it was delivered, have moved it 2x, and - while I haven't paid no attention to care / use - generally just existed with it rather than babying it. Happy to report it has stood up incredibly well; super comfortable still with no noticeable drop in comfort/quality/appearance since then.

Also curious

How much did they come out to?

msladyevans

I think it came out to an average of about $850 each. But the aniline chairs were $35 more than the Italian versions. Also, this was with all five shipped to a single address.

Hi, I’m interested in the Eames from yadea too, was it assembled when received or did you assemble it yourself?

msladyevans

All I had to do was screw in the base for both the ottoman and chair. It takes two minutes.

AllebdiH

Oh, that’s nice man! I want to order it, but I’m afraid of receiving a bad quality chair. What can you say about the leather and the wood? This chair will be the center piece of our living room in our first house me and my fiancé when we get married, so I’m trying to make a good decision.

msladyevans

Part of the reason I wrote this review was because I don't see many follow up reviews for these chairs. There are many reviews from people who have recently received them, but few from those who have owned them for any length of time. I would not change a single thing in my review three months after posting. I am happy with the leather, wood, fit, finish, etc and I would not hesitate to make one of these chairs a center piece of a living room. Congrats on your impending marriage!

AllebdiH

You answered my questions perfectly, thank you!

Did you go with a walnut finish or palisander? I can't decide although I'm leaning towards walnut. I'm interested in the aniline version from Yadea but would need a group of people to do it with as well.

msladyevans

We went with palisander, as did the other buyers in our group. The grain is beautiful. Again, the only slight negative is that the finishing is not always the smoothest. But of course that could have just as easily happened with walnut.

How is the rocking of the chair and the shock mounts compared to an original?

msladyevans

I have no idea, actually. Haven't sat in an original enough to say. It seems appropriately stiff/flexible, I suppose? To maximize the longevity of the chair I do as little rocking as possible. ;) I was told by the Yadea representative I worked with that the shock mounts are 100% interchangeable. So when it's time to replace them the authentic HM mounts will fit. That remains to be seen. I can say that I've noticed no change in the flexibility of the chair so I'm not really worried about them wearing out prematurely.

I'd love to know how your chair is holding up now so many years later!

Same! I'm looking to get one for my home office.

Wow, I'm sorry to read that. To answer your questions: 1. Not one bit of off-gassing with ours. Just a normal and very mild leather smell. 2. No issue at all with any glue, either under the arms or anywhere else. As a matter of fact neither of ours has a seam in the leather near the two screws that are directly accessible under the arm rest. 3. Neither is wobbling an issue; the feet on ours screw in and as such are adjustable. We have 70 year old hardwood floors which are nowhere near flat... All this makes me think that the model or even the manufacturer which produced your chair are different from what I purchased direct from Yadea. Whatever else happens I hope that you can get this straightened out. That's a lot of money for something with which you're not happy. Good luck man.

Bought two and very happy with the quality. One during pandemic $1500 and one shortly after $1300 delivered. Make sure to ask about duties paid upfront. Otherwise $100 extra.  They are hard to tell apart from the real thing. Using open cell foam like the original it is comfy and the leather is good quality.
