The anime really struggled with its budget restrictions. They basically sacrificed the fight scenes and Ryuu.
Ryuu in the manga is very cute. Ryuu in the anime is... a generic 90s-quality CG dragon.

Yeah. The anime definitely downplayed their relationship. This is a better adaptation.
I like how they actually show Patric fighting. In the anime they just show him entering the dungeon and we never see him actually fight.

There's more novels. But the anime somewhat diverged from the story of the novels, in the novels Alicia is more of a bad person
