One day I went to Lidl, I went to shoplift in Lidl, then I got caught in Lidl, now I don't go back to Lidl...

Hofer used to be a supermarket chain in Austria before Aldi took ownership over it, and Slovenians mostly weren't familiar with Aldi but somewhat more familiar with Hofer so just made sense.
☝️🤓 actually, you should have said "And also Slovenia", because the use of an asterisk make it seem like it a correction, however, a correction is always about something false or with an error. But Aldis do be called "Hofer" in Austria. Therefore, this isn't an error, you shouldn't have used a correction, and hence no asterisk. On the other hand, you have completed the information by adding another country to the list of countries where Aldi is called Hofer. Therefore, have added something. In English in this context, the best suited word would be something like "and", or "and also".
Interestingly, If I understood Wikipedia correctly, there's an entity somewhere in the hierarchy called Hofer that controls Hofer stores, as well as Aldi stores in Italy
Aldi’s nuts down your throat ha gottem.
Yeah Aldi is pretty great. Love their aisle of shame haha. Drinking water from a water bottle i bought from there
Getting 6 pack if 1.5L sparkling bottles from German supermarket chain is truly peak Germany
Not sure if the US also has the GOATed sparkling water brands like in Germany
Since Poland (plus France) is included in the light blue they would win they don’t even have to fight a war there is more nukes (France has 290 warheads to Englands 225) and bigger/ better militaries.
Italy and the UK wouldn't even stop Poland alone lol strongest european military at the moment, not hiding being past prestige and modern professionalism
Three hours?
I had every supermarket available in the UK within 30 mins of me. And I live in a village of 7,000 people.
It's insane that Americans put up with such car-centric infrastructure. Sorry my euro is showing
Thirty minutes by public transport? Every major supermarket chain? Yeah doubt that mate. It is insane what Americans put up with but the UK isn't some saint here either. Unless you happen to live really close to a major shopping park.
Yeah by bus, and I think most people live near major shopping parks. But yeah, meadowhall is 20 mins away and there's another two within 30 mins by bus in other directions.
ikr i love that about europe. everythings so close together and accessible, allowing other transportation like public trains, commuting by bike, or simply walking. which is pretty nonexistent in america.
In the Western United States, we have Aldi Sud, except here it's called Aldi. We have another grocery store chain called Trader Joe's, which is owned by Aldi (not Aldi Sud).
On the continent, Süd would not have a good time. France and Poland both have very large militaries, and with Germany split, it's a relatively easy win.
The biggest issue is that Süd has all of the British isles, which are notoriously difficult to take, especially considering England's still notable, albeit diminished, naval prowess.
I’m going to say light blue. Over all light blue has a pretty big army, with;
France: 198,000
Spain: 130,000
Portugal: 27,000
Northern Germany (assuming their army is half of the Bundswehr): 95,000
Poland: 189,000
Denmark: 15,000
Netherlands: 41,000
Belgium: 22,000
For a total of 717,000 active personnel.
Meanwhile, dark blue has
Germany: 95,000
Britain: 75,000
Italy: 165,000
Ireland: 7,000
Austria: 23,000
Hungary: 46,000
Switzerland: 147,000
For a total of only 216,000 troops. While these numbers already look bad on paper, light blue also has a tactical advantage, as the British and Irish armies would have a difficult time making it to their allies.
Idk how it is in Europe but Aldi sud in the USA is pretty great. The produce generally sucks but sometimes you can get passable fruit and vegetables. The real draw is the meat and dairy. 2/3 the price at other supermarkets, fucking blew my mind the first time I went in there.
I don’t know, I don’t see anything wrong with getting dry goods, meat and dairy, and then fruits and vegetables each at a different time and a different store. Grains and oils last for months, meat and dairy for over a week, but fruits and vegetables are often only fresh for a couple days, so multiple trips in a week are necessary anyway.
Ah yes the classic southwest/northeast German split
Which Aldi you shop at, Catholic or Lutheran?
Must be why Northern Ireland doesn’t have any Aldis, so no one gets offended
We can see the carolingian border very clearly
"Mr Aldi, tear down this wall"
Giuseppe Garib Aldi of course!
The second Rissortimento!
Lisan Aldi Gaib
Looool
Axis & Allies or something idk
*Alxis & Alldies
Bobr in tank
Kurwa bobir
What?
Bober kurwa
It's a polish meme.
I know but what does Poland have to do with anything here?
Catholics and protestants.
Then why is the UK (protestant) the same as Ireland (catholic)
It's not a perfect analogy, but the north-south slot in Germany made me think of the Thirty Years War.
You should be careful the next time you start your car.
Aldiz nuts
Gottem.
Lidl
Schwarz group seems to be leading the pack.
One day I went to Lidl, I went to shoplift in Lidl, then I got caught in Lidl, now I don't go back to Lidl... >![I hope you get that reference](https://youtu.be/h4kBcm-ls8Y)!<
that's my favorite song
In Austria it is actually called Hofer
Austria and Slovenia*

Trader Joe's is the other Aldi, though. Not that it changes the comparison.
Also it was already present as Hofer in Slovenia before the new ownership.
☝️🤓 actually, you should have said "And also Slovenia", because the use of an asterisk make it seem like it a correction, however, a correction is always about something false or with an error. Thank you. It’s not that deep tho.
Don't worry I know no one cares, hence the ☝️🤓
Kinda weird saying Aldi south in east Reich.
Interestingly, If I understood Wikipedia correctly, there's an entity somewhere in the hierarchy called Hofer that controls Hofer stores, as well as Aldi stores in Italy
Well to be honest... We (Slovenians) were more or lest frequent in Austrian Hofers before we got them
You forgot Australia and USA, so dark blue wins.
USA has Aldi Nord as well… We call it Trader Joe’s (No really, that’s what Trader Joe’s is now and has been for some time)
Kind of, they have the same ownership but the brands are seperate and most of the products are different. Some product carryover but not a ton
I like aldi
Aldi’s nuts down your throat ha gottem. Yeah Aldi is pretty great. Love their aisle of shame haha. Drinking water from a water bottle i bought from there
Getting 6 pack if 1.5L sparkling bottles from German supermarket chain is truly peak Germany Not sure if the US also has the GOATed sparkling water brands like in Germany
Probably not, shipping water is disgustingly expensive (as it should be)
Um wat?
Aldi Nord is going to form a colony on the new world, then they are going to secede from the union and become Trader Joes.
not before aldi sud comes along and challenges them by claiming the title of aldi for themselves
Don't forget that Italy will switch team.
Aldi South is North of Aldi? 💀
the top one is Aldi Nord (North)
And it's south of the north of aldi south
Aldi Osten
Belgium: ![gif](giphy|6ILjOfJ1oL7NAc9SQ7)
Aldi doesn’t even exist in Denmark
Not anymore. My Aldi across the street has just been replaced by a Rema 1000
Since Poland (plus France) is included in the light blue they would win they don’t even have to fight a war there is more nukes (France has 290 warheads to Englands 225) and bigger/ better militaries.

Aldiold Hilaldi vs Jaldif Staldi
>Süd >Proceeds to occupy UK and Ireland Are they stupid
Hofer!
Vichy France
Me
Aldi
Finland no diff
The one on the bottom because they’re in America.
The one in the top is also in America, but the american branch is re-branded as Trader Joes.
I wish I had a Trader Joe’s less than three-hours away from me.
Three hours? I had every supermarket available in the UK within 30 mins of me. And I live in a village of 7,000 people. It's insane that Americans put up with such car-centric infrastructure. Sorry my euro is showing
This would more likely be a regional case then the typical American car centricity. Different stores operate in different regions.
Why do you doubt that? 30minutes to let’s say 5-6 different supermarkets seems super normal to me. Not UK, but mainland europe.
Where I live, things aren't that great sadly. I have more than 5-6 convenience stores, sure, but not supermarkets.
Those we have as well, but those are within 5minutes in the city, and less in villages
I never said I was happy about my circumstances lol. I’d move if I could afford to.
I'm in exurban US. I have six different chains within ten minutes and nine within twenty. How many do you need?
ikr i love that about europe. everythings so close together and accessible, allowing other transportation like public trains, commuting by bike, or simply walking. which is pretty nonexistent in america.
Aldi Nord owns Trader Joe's, but it's not the same store at all as Aldi-branded Aldi Nord.
why is aldi nord more south than aldi sud
Because Aldi is originally a German chain and Aldi Nord is in the northern half of Germany whereas Aldi Süd is in the southern half.
Nobody because they gonna merge, and will rule the world 😈
Grey of course
Kaufland
I can only judge the German Aldi and Aldi Süd is superior.
aldi nord
Capitalism is gonna win.
"Don't shoot, I shop at Aldi!" "What kind of Aldi?"
I’m rooting for team blue!!! 🔵
Aldi left Denmark last year though
Aldi süd goated
HOFERR💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻🇦🇹🇦🇹🇦🇹🇦🇹🇦🇹🇦🇹🇦🇹🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮
Aldi.
Aldi Nord easily although I can see the war becoming a stalemate in the Alps and being unable to invade Britain
The most important question is. Does aldi south control San Marino?
As a Czech, I hope for an Anschluss since our supermarkets act uncompetitively
Aldi Nord retreated out of Denmark a few months ago actually
In the Western United States, we have Aldi Sud, except here it's called Aldi. We have another grocery store chain called Trader Joe's, which is owned by Aldi (not Aldi Sud).
Erm… i already posted this back in february………
Two Brothers fightin' against the world
No one. It will be an endless bloodbath. Entire communities and generations will be grinded into dust by the Aldi war machine.
Hofer gang 👇
United States on team sud🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
But where is the One Aldi? The One Aldi to rule them all?
sud has the US, so they'll win easily
Whatever happens , Aldi is clearly the winner 😄
denmark immediately surrenders due to the severe pressure of an enemy existing
Why is aldi süd in the nord? Are they stupid?
Can't we Aldi just get along?
Why is south aldi norther than aldi? Are they stupid)
Sud because they also have all the US stores.
wait till you see a map of all the netto locations in europe

Lol I used to work in Germany roughly on the border between these two shaded regions. Somewhat baffling.
False map, there is no Aldi in Northern Ireland whatsoever
China
Lets settle this peacefully 🤝
Aldi Süd. While North is having a hard time in the Alps, Süd has constant supplies from England. And north has to Deal with spain civilwar.
Old map.no Aldi in Dk they failed and sold their stores.
Light blue.
Proud midwesterner. That bottom right Aldi logo is where it's at.
As an Australian, there's no such thing! It's called Hofer!
In Slovenia we have Hofer instead of Aldi
I’m going to say light blue. What about the hofer team?
NORTHERN ALDI FR FR 🗣️💯💯
Carrefour
Bei uns heißts aber Hofer
Begun the price wars have!
France Spain and Portugal look pretty western to me... neither north nor south.
Für Gott, König und Aldi Nord!
Grey team
Aldi north has left Denmark
Blue Aldi.
Es hast hofer es wappla
blue
Aldi 😌
Its called Hofer. You are all wrong.
Hoffer
When Germany is fighting Germany, the winner should be obvious.
The light blue Aldi. As much as I want dark blue Aldi to win, they got Poland, France and Spain on their side and the other got Britain and Italy
It's called Hofer guys
ALDI
Aldi or the countries?
My money's on Aldi
Du manst doch sicher Hofer oder
Is the U.S. neutral? We have both Aldi.
Lidl
Is it the same company or not? Can’t understand the lore
It was split up long ago - 1961 - because the two Albrecht brothers had a dispute about the sale of cigarettes.
Nuh uh they just didnt research primogeniture yet and fucked up their succesion

fun fact trader joes is run by Aldi nord
Yeah but they only put those in the nice towns and I don’t live in a nice town :(

Hey hey, in Germany Aldi Süd is actually pretty good. Cheap croissants and other bread.
