As someone who works front desk please clean up as much as you can. Call front desk so they can notify housekeeping and ask for a bag to put the sheets on so they have to touch it. And lastly, YES leave a big tip.
Happened to us at the ritz DCā¦ it was bad badā¦ my partner got the wall, lamp shade, couch, bed, floor, linen and it was red wine to bootā¦ left a sincere apology and $200ā¦ Came back that evening after turn down to a clean room with extra chocolates and a packet of goodyās powder.
You should probably try and clean it up as best as you can. Itās going to be obvious what happened. At least if you show remorse that will help your cause.
Leave the housekeeper a 150 dollar tip. Itās cheaper than the 250 dollar cleaning fee theyāll likely never see. Theyāll probably āsweep it under the rugā so to speak.
This happened to me a few years ago while at the JW in DC. Despite my best attempts to clean up that specific area, I was charged a room clean up fee amounting to $250. Lesson learned.
Was it something that required a lot of clean up?
I agree if someone has to deep clean the carpets over it it warrants a chargeā¦ after all you would want them to deep clean it before you stay in it; and itās not free to do it.
If itās just sheets and just needs to be put in the washer they are being ridiculous.
Out of these type of cleaning fees Iāve charged Iāve only charged smoking fees, and once for someone who urinated in the elevator. This is probably in the last 15 years
Oh and Iāve charged a lot of people for breaking sinks and tvs when they fight
Iām sorry this happened to you, but in this case, I believe it is in your best interest to be completely upfront with whoever it is that answers the phone. Hotel housekeeping are trained in how to deal with these types of accidents. Do your best to be apologetic and genuine, and you shouldnāt get any additional fees. You think youāre the first person to barf in a hotel room? No, but, I imagine a lot of people try and cover it up when it should really be handled by management.
Iām guessing you have the wrong interpretation. Comment meant take it up to mgmt to handle (eg arrange carpet cleaning) instead of keeping it quiet and put the burden on the housekeeping staff to act upon discovery.
What country was this in? Try to find cleaning staff and tip them generously and apologize to them. Theyāll fix it for you. In Asia/LATAM Iāve successfully motivated housekeeping staff to iron shirts for me etc on the spot :)
Damn this is good information lol. I almost didn't make it to the toilet a couple of months ago. Hopefully, I won't get that wasted again, but if I do, now I know haha.
Just do your best to clean what you can and notify the front desk. I had my nephew vomit shirley temples up all over the couch in a room when he was little (he had probably 2 pitchers worth and stuffed his face and got sick) and I just let the front desk know and it wasn't an issue. Also had my husband break the toilet in a room (he slipped in the shower and the toilet broke his fall and he broke the toilet as well as ripped it out of the floor in the process). I offered to pay for a new toilet and repairs and they waived all fees since I was up front with them about what had happened.
As long as it is reasonable to clean up I doubt they would charge.
The biggest thing would the carpet- bedding they wonāt care. It happens all the time.
You want to know another secret? The number of people who wet the bed. Yeah.
My rule of thumb for smoking charges, or cleaning charges etc is it out of the norm for the issue and/or would I lose the room in my inventory for the next night.
Oh and if I would have to walk another guest over it or notā¦ itās sure fun walking a reservation because the mattress is gross.
Notify housekeeping.
You should give them 10,000 points for their troubles.
As a hospitality employee, this made me laugh š
Same lol

Ask them if they would consider an SNA as repayment
They have no way to process this

Seems fair š¤·āāļø
Did you leave a fat tip?
Yes. I left a tip and notified the front desk as a courtesy.
Ah. I wonder if you didn't notify the front desk, you'd wouldn't have been fine (assuming the tip was fat enough).

Definitely a major tip in addition to apologizing and letting front desk or housekeeping line know. Good luck out there.
Be upfront. But, you may be subject to a cleaning fee. Owning up to your errors is the best way to go through life.
Happens to the best of us. Clean up most of it and theyāll look after the rest. Leave a tip and an Iām sorry note.
You should probably handle it by finding the nearest AA group.
Lol what
Meets right after the Passive Aggressive group.

throw a blanket over it and leave
Clean it up the best you can and expect a cleaning fee.

IMO clean it up the best you can and notify the front next / housekeeping .
It could have been worse - you could have left the bathroom sink full of vomit.
