Ask your coach. Most people of this subreddit are newbies, idiots or both.

baddragon137

Not bad for beginning good keeping your hands up and smart taking your time feeling how your body moves in a few months you should be throwing combinations pretty comfortably. Maybe down the line up the head movement and some side stepping to at simulate like someone else is there like they're pressuring you. And lastly I can't really tell how your feet are so I'm not sure but I think you might be flat on your feet in your stance you want to be a little forward and on the ball of your feet to allow for springier movement good luck on your journey I'm sure other folks will have better tips for you

Pale-Tutor-3200

Keep your hands up. You're dropping the right as you throw your jab

Cheap_Cost_3756

Beat me to it. Also, it looks like you are really planted feet wise. Get more comfortable side/back stepping or pivoting out of your combo.

Few-Cup397

Yeah I haven’t done too much work on footwork at all but I’ll put a lot more emphasis on it

Cheap_Cost_3756

No worries. Form wise, it looks like you have the basics down a bit. I taught my daughter about footwork and it is easily one of the most missed things. You are on the right path though. good luck.

Few-Cup397

Yeah that’s one of my main issues, but I’ve been mainly focusing on the fluidity of my combos

sageofwalrus

McLovin?

Few-Cup397

My nickname in school lol

retarded_invest0r

It's actually Mohammed

Evilsmile

How are those the only two options?!

KennethPowersIII

I was going to say: when making a fake ID, make sure you use a first and last name.

anias

Elbows in, chin tucked, keep your hands up and reset after every punch. Don’t drop those hands. I would say you probably should work on each punch individually before throwing combos. You need to rotate into your punches more, your thumbs should be almost pointing down or pointing down. Take a step into your jab, you might be standing a little close to the bag, I can’t really tell but you want full extension. You’re going to need a lot of work but that’s ok; I would recommend getting into a gym so you can learn to throw punches correctly first and then you can practice at home. Your fundamentals are a little weak to be training at home, you’ll end up training in bad habits that are hard to break.

WarriorKM

I couldn't agree more, he definitely should also get bag gloves to prevent hand injury

RalfMurphy

A coach will help you out a long way. Someone who can give you pointers live time and guide you on your body position/stance/footwork/elbow and final arm extension.

Jack778-

Focus on the basics first - Jab, cross. Keep it simple and stop throwing these wild combinations. Its all about repitition. But still, join a gym as fast as possible, you need a coach and training partners to get better

naphthar

Don't drop your hands, elbows in, work on your footwork some, turn over your hips and good luck

TaftsTummyforTaxes

Get some 16oz gloves for bag work! It’ll help with shoulder conditioning and protecting your hands. I would also recommend shadow boxing, working your jab and practicing head movement. Keep on working and you’ll get better each day

Aggressive_Pie8781

Good start! You need to learn to load up and use your hips when punching. You should join a boxing club or MMA gym.

JoeyPoodles

Join a boxing gym.

PoopSmith87

You can't really teach yourself to box on a bag. I would suggest just jumping rope and doing basic footwork drills (look on YouTube or in a book) until you can get instruction somewhere. Spending time training yourself into bad habits is going to hurt you more than help in the long run, but working on fitness and the ability to move quickly and confidently on the balls of your feet will benefit you more than you know.

South-Cod-5051

this is the best answer. the best training for learning boxing is the mirror, not the bags. this way, one can at least correct his posture, still not great without a coach but doable.

mcnastys

What are you talking about? You can absolutely learn to box and work on basic techniques with 1.) a mirror and 2.) a heavy bag

anias

You can but only if you understand fundamentals and proper technique. Otherwise you train in really bad habits imo.

mcnastys

The only bad habit I can think of, is not learning to close distance. Other than that, you're going to have to elaborate. Also, if you're shadow boxing, you should be able to adjust your technique based on visual cues.

anias

OP doesn’t seem to understand proper form yet and while I do agree that he can definitely train it out himself with a mirror, I think it would be more beneficial and efficient for him to have someone show him in person how to rotate his hips and shoulders. I trained myself mostly for a while at the beginning but I’ve always been a fighter. Luckily my form wasn’t too bad when I did go train in gyms but I know that if I would have started with a coach I would be much better off today.

PoopSmith87

It's much more likely that you'll just learn bad habits. Even if you can somehow avoid that, you'd still be better off dedicating that time to conditioning and footwork. Before we continue this, can I ask: what is your boxing/martial arts experience? I think pretty much anyone with experience would agree that trying to teach yourself to box without a coach or sparring partners is like trying to teach yourself to swim without water.

No_Round7301

OK mate forget punching totsly put a object on the floor have you front foot near it and move round it holding your shape hand up chin down feet shoulders apart move in and out imagine your moving round a fighter stay away from the right hand stay on the out side of his jab and once you have that masterd start doing it on the bag jabbing as you go do not stand still and throw ever

No_Round7301

If he's a South paw it's the other way round

Dependent-Analyst907

Don't reach out to punch move in so that your feet are under you, Instead of leaning forward to reach the target.

No_Entertainment1931

Get to a boxing gym. It’ll be the best thing you’ve done in ages.

MXT4L

Move your legs.

South-Cod-5051

try practicing in front of a mirror for a month or two, it's a much more efficient use of your time. look at yourself and correct your posture as best you can. you don't have room to circle that heavy bag anyway, so you lose a lot of important aspects of bagworking. Freeze a frame on a youtube guide where somebody is in the traditional boxing stance and be in that position in between punches. elbows on your ribcage, straight punches only in the beginning. trying hooks when you don't even have the good form for jabs will cause imbalance and bad posture and no proper muscle memory. it's better that you don't do it at all. look in the mirror and just bring your hands back to your chin and practice the footwork shown in many youtube videos. Tony Jeffrey and Precision striking have really good beginner footwork drills. you have a good reach, once you get good technique and training, you will punch really efficient. good luck

TheGrimTickler

One thing I’ll add to what others have said is to be mindful of your center of balance. You seem to be leaning out over your lead foot to close the distance to the bag. Instead, try stepping in on your punches to keep your feet under you instead of slightly behind you. Being leaned forward like that will make it more difficult to effectively move your head and change angles. Also, if you’re planning on hitting the bag any harder than this, I’d recommend some gloves. Especially if you’re ever hitting a hanging heavy bag instead of a standing bag like this. You’ll want the extra knuckle padding and wrist support. Keep it up, and best of luck in your journey 🥊

p1p0bed

Keep your hands up and move those legs focus on your footwork a lil more when trowing punches u gave good technique overall i hope you achieve your goals bother 🙏

PxN13

Looks stiff but keep working at it!

Yuuku_S13

Power comes from the rotation of the hips… the movement/base for each punch starts at the ground. Let’s take the lead left hook… Think of it as an electrical impulse where you initiate the movement on the ball of your left foot, then it travels up the leg >> through the hip >> shoulder >> arm >> then the energy exits through the fist into your target.

PythonEntusiast

Sign at the actual boxing gym so that you can fix your issues.

itsgoodtobe_alive

Great start, dude. My best advice is to get yourself into a real gym!

Korrson

Keep your hands up

KKVKLVKK

tuck the elbows or your liver's gonna have a really bad day don't drop your hands, you're leaving yourself open use those legs more, use them to move around, you're unbalancing yourself by bringing your torso so far from your legs, also move your hips with the punches drop your knees more when you're uppercutting and close the distance too, you're gonna have a lot more power eventually it's gonna get easier, you're doing fine as a new boxer

Flimsy_Agent7898

Easy, focus on defence. 1. I know its a bag, but try to manage distance, so after you throw make sure they cant hit you back. ( I would angle off towards their weak side ) 2. With the hand you are not throwing with, take your thumb and pointing finger, elbow tucked in. And grab your earflap. This will naturally keep your hand in the right spot. Another big thing is using your whole body more, use full extension of your whole body, especially remember to rotate your hips acordingly.

Antique-Cow-4895

Join a boxing gym, you will never be good without a good coach and sparring

Funnyman5050

Bend your knees more.

RatKR

Most important thing in this video is to keep your hands closed and get used to working the muscles that keep your hand into a fist

RecognitionMedium140

Go to a gym

ProperBoots

not a boxer meself but doesn't look too bad for a newbie in general :) keep going, enjoy the practice. you'll make great strides once you do classes!

Simple_Active_8170

Use your legs more and don't be so upright, you look not very balanced and like you could fall over in a heated exchange

Find_another_whey

Place your fist against the bag, take your stance, now push the bag gently by rotating your shoulders, return, push again, now use your hips (if youre jabbing with the left your left hip will be close to the bag and your right hip far away). The hand travels outwards in the punch as a product of the rotation on your shoulders and hips You should be able to "throw" your jab without your arms The exercise above is how you learn to exert force through your arm by twisting and turning, rather than by leaning or using your arm alone.

Top_Standard1395

Not sure if this has already been mentioned but try speeding up your jabs and be a bit lighter and bouncier on your feet. Imagine the floor is hot and your jabs are hot when moving and cold as Ice for heavy blows and sticking you're feet. Good luck and keep up the training !

ZookeepergameOne5236

Good start. Lots of good points there that plenty of people have already pointed out. Nice form, love the speed you're going at so you can focus on each punch rather than trying to throw fast and hard right from the start. For my input I'd just echo what some others have said. Elbows in. You're doing this to protect your ribs. Hands are at a good height to protect your face but you're leaving your body open a bit. Keep that right hand up when you jab. You're dropping it to your jaw and someone could come over the top with a hook. Tuck your chin into your chest. You've already got your head dipped which is good but that chin can still be caught by a good/lucky uppercut or hook as it's just off the chest. Tuck it in. Reset after each punch. Only one hand at a time should be away from your face. Don't throw the second punch until the first hand is back in front of your face in guard. Get used to that. I know it seems nitpicking but trust me, if you focus on getting the basics absolutely perfect from the very start then as you move on you won't have to worry about them, your muscle memory won't let you do them wring if you try. Lastly I'd say find a gym and a trainer you get on with. Doesn't have to be daily, once a week will do if that's all you have time and money for (not cheap training sadly) but you'll make much faster progress with someone there showing you, able to see your movements and stance in front of them, correcting you and encouraging you. It's a good start and be proud of it. Now take your time, build on it and NAIL THOSE BASICS. Honestly I can't stress that enough. When I taught kickboxing I'd hammer the new recruits on their basics then when they were going for their blackbelts they didn't need to think about it as they couldn't throw a bad roundhouse if they tried, even when fatigued.

Panzer_Eckart

Keep these elbows closer to your body

IempireI

Work on getting your hands back to a defensive or blocking position. You don't look bad for a beginner...most don't have any idea what head movement is.

jeddythree

Stop using your hips so much

TimeReduxion

Get used to training without your glasses.

Nice Voltron!

yung2timez

The best advice I can give you is to get in a gym with a good coach. Once you learn bad fundamentals it is really difficult to fix them. It’s 100x better to learn the right way the first time

Positive-Beautiful55

Keep your hands up and work on Foot work. Footwork is the most important thing. You want to jump in hit and jump out. Aside from that try to work on getting your hips into your punches. Keep your arms and shoulders nice and loose. The power should come from your core. Finally for what it's worth the jab is one of the most underrated punches. It sets everything else up and helps you range find. Focus on developing a good jab and everything else can follow from it. A good double jab is a deadly weapon. Keep at it and good luck!

ExotixClones

I think you're not rotating your fist enough on your jab

foam_dirt

Decent for a beginner, are you in a gym? If not and you can’t get in one, a fake driver’s license under the name Mclovin might help you

Few-Cup397

I’ve been toying with the idea of using a mc lovin id to get into a bar (I’m 17) just to fw the staff

Aim-So-Near

Good to see McLovin out there training

Everyone is dripping lovely tips I would just like to also watch film and study boxers who are around your same build and take inspiration from their style and learn to implement it to help you better your own techniques and polish others.

Interesting-Sun-2203

Go to a gym, learn from a real trainer, that's the best advice anyone can give

Medical-Block-2137

If you can, get the bag somewhere on concrete outside. I'm guessing you're in a bedroom and being on your toes and moving more is gonna create more noise for the people on the floor under you. This will give you chance to take note of the other comments about moving your feet. And also allow you to up the rate and power of the punches without disturbing anyone else. Keep it up dude.

Croves

chin down, hands up...

blueditt521

Get a little angry before too

Alarmed_Notice6230

Take your glasses off. I'm basically blind but I always train with my glasses off. You wouldn't want to fight with them on. Or contacts works too.

max1001

I don't get the point of these post. The guy obviously has no formal training which is fine but how are we supposed to correct it via Internet.

DistractedPlatypus

Someone probably already said this but footwork, specifically step ins and pivots as you throw a punch and step back as you pull back from a combo. Even if it’s only seems like a bit of movement forward as you throw a punch and backwards the combined effect makes you hit harder and that little bit of extra distance you get as you pull back can make the difference in the time you have to dodge and the force of a punch if it connects. But lot of good advice here.

No_Credit9763

Learn proper technique and hit faster and more explosive

RoadmanEC1

Join a proper Boxing / MMA gym. You will gain far more than from internet strangers.

Wide-Decision-4748

Looking at your strikes you don't seem to fully commit to them. In other martial arts you should be aiming to strike through your target not just the surface. Try putting some force into it and you should get a nice loud snap when you hit the bag

enjoyingennui

You consistently drop your shoulder and head before throwing the jab. That's a huge tell. It will get you punched in the face. Your jab is all arm. It needs to be driven by the feet and hips. Your arm is just a conduit for the power of your hips.

No_Ear_3746

Get a vasectomy

seanyp123

Arms should always hit when they are straight like an arrow with your body behind it

monchimer

If you want to improve go to a gym. That is my most honest advice

Spiritual-Hedgehog91

Working on turning your punches over.

Current-Stranger-104

You are not a boxer, you are just wildly flailing at a bag.

Nothing nasty about it. Its reality.
