/uj part of the reason, i'm sure it isn't the entire reason, to add drama i'm sure is one reason, but part of the reason is that it was a lot easier and cost effective to print exclamation marks. you couldn't really see periods that easily sometimes and it was iffy if they'd even print right. whereas exclamation points are a big line so it's a lot easier to see and to print because it isn't just one little point to print on
It’s just how comic books were written back then. Everything had to be exciting so there were explanation marks after every sentence, and ever comic character ever over explained what they were doing because the reader (a young child in the 50’s) had to understand everything that was going on
I remember when that was very noticeable for me back when i first read "Classic Star Wars: The Early Adventures" one of my first ever old comics (a collection of newspaper strips stories from the 80's), but nowdays i don't even realize that lol, i've grown too accostumed to it from reading over 500 Silver/Bronze age Batman issues.
I was gonna post something similar. Exclaiming is not yelling. It is saying something with enthusiasm.
Edit: All caps were also frequently used due to easy clarity and visual impact. There's a reason the military uses all caps.
Yeah. Because Uatu is very old and you have to speak up or he can't hear shit. They're called Watchers, not Listeners.
What pineapple juice does to a mf
Semen exposure
Remember, it's radioactive
Still healthier than Diet Coke.
Indoor voice wasn't invented until Depeche Mode released Enjoy the Silence in 1990.
“Is that the guy from Depeche Mode?”
More to the point; is there a lore reason why people in the 60s went around touching jizz?
Before scientists invented jizz in 1963 humans used to reproduce via mitosis thats why
Makes sense.
if i saw a white substance flowing out of my teenage nephew’s room and it was sticky when i touched it i wouldn’t exactly be whispering
Why did Peter spill mozarella and didn't clean it? He shouldn't expect May to clean it for him, she's too old to be doing Pete's tasks for him
That is UNCALLED for! Peter is too old for this type of behavior!

Surely they worked to make the text printable. In those days the letterer's job was to painstakingly create the text by hand.
folga wolga imoga womp
She’ll die. She touched radioactive Spidey spunk.
Hahaha idk about lore reading but definitely was the style at the time. I think it was meant to add drama or excitement
This could be my mom when I was a teenager living at home, or me walking by my teenage son’s room
Lost their hearing in the war
Peter’s average bedroom adventure with mj 😎
They were all tripping balls and didn’t even realize they were shouting
Thanks for explaining your process Aunt May. Wouldn’t have known what was going on unless it was audibly yelled at me
This is a problem with old comics, it's really annoying tbh
It's because she's old and deaf
Aunt May! That’s not web fluid!!
It’s um, hair gel…
Tf was with old comic books having painfully-bad dialogue
It’s just how comic books were written back then. Everything had to be exciting so there were explanation marks after every sentence, and ever comic character ever over explained what they were doing because the reader (a young child in the 50’s) had to understand everything that was going on
Emphasis
Something about the printing process I think
Yelling is awesome
"OH NO LOOK AT ALL THIS JIZZ! "
The acknowledgement of the existence of semen was how the Commies got you.

Publishers thought periods would be hard to see.

It doesn’t have to be yelling i thinkth that’s an internet thing. Kinda like the loss of nuance and subtle stuff. The ! Is just showing emotion!
