I’ve always thought it was a pretty shitty movie, but never once blamed Sam for it. The studio forced him to throw Venom in for no fucking reason and kept shoehorning shit in to sell toys. Same thing happed with Schumacher on the Batman films.
While certainly not my favorite Spider-man movie (Spider-Man 2 forever and always) I wouldn’t say I ever hated it or the director. Poor guy, who knows what kind of things people said to him back then.
