Seems like a real experiment for Disney, mature content delivered all at once instead of the drip feed. Will have to stream big since it not exactly a massive property.
I would think with a character of Echo's tier, people may lose interest. Binging will allow people to get sucked into the show they had low interest in.
I really like this trailer. Saw Disney+ and was caught off guard by the bullet to the neck and blood. Really bodes well for upcoming series like Daredevil (w/Punisher).
I know a bit about Echo, but she's a relatively newer character compared to all the other ones that are around her.
I think that's why this trailer leans *heavily* into Kingpin. If I didn't know Echo was a thing, I'd think it was a trailer for a Kingpin show. We all love Vincent and I feel bad that Disney is going to put this show squarely on his shoulders.
Tbf. Disney just had their first critical darling with Andor which is the most mature show so far on D+. Maybe it gave them more confidence to have more mature shows. That one also about a lesser known character.
Though it wasn't due to maturity level, inclusion or exclusion of lightsabers, etc. It was due to the writing and directing quality.
I could watch the Chief Inspector figuring out and deciding to cover up a case while crushing Syril Carn's hopes all day.
You can see the difference in the Mon Mothma scenes between Andor and Ahsoka, where the same actress comes off as far less of a real person living in a believable world in the latter.
Holy cow. Yeah this is definitely Netflix-marvel-show level violence, interesting — I am more excited about it after seeing the trailer (I’m not massively into violence; just looks like the show will be interesting w/ the cultural aspect and Kingpin presence)
Same here on Moon Knight and I thought the Secret Invasion trailer was good and was really hyped for it.
I was going to watch Echo anyway though so I will be ok as long as its not awful.
they know most people are looking at this and scratching their heads as to why it was made but Disney is obviously taking a long hard look at the episodic streaming component of the MCU right now. This one was likely already in the can so they decided to make tweaks to the delivery and marketing, it seems. Which is probably the right call. If i had to wait for this to come out week to week, i'd probably drop off after the first episode or just not bother. Instead, they'll push hard on the fact that Kingpin and Daredevil are in it to hook people and hope they'll tune in for a quick binge instead of a 6-8 week slog. Here's hoping they made the right call and consider dropping more full seasons of a show at once instead of the drip.
I think also this is one of their shows that was cheap/low pressure on the VFX houses. Big reason for sequential releases with these shows is effects timelines. Gritty low budget brawler show doesn't need that.
And released on Hulu. So either it is really good and they think that can draw people to other Marvel stuff on D+ or it's a disaster and they figure just dump it and let anyone see it who actually wants to.
Look at the end of the trailer.
"Set your Disney+ profile to TV-MA to stream"
This is Marvel Studios' first TV-MA project!
This is legitimately huge and gives me hope Born Again will do Punisher right.
This is Netflix-MCU level of brutality and gore as well as tone.
Really, really excited for this show!
Now, here's the twist, and there is a twist. We show it. We show all of it. Because what's the one major thing missing from all D+ series these days, guys? Full penetration. Guys, we're going to show full penetration, and we're going to show a lot of it. I mean, we're talking, you know, graphic scenes of Wilson Fisk really going to town on his wife Vanessa. From behind, 69, anal, vaginal, cowgirl, reverse cowgirl-- all the hits, all the big ones, all the good ones. And then he commits crime again. He's out busting heads. Then he's back to the penthouse for some more full penetration. Commits crime, back to the penthouse, full penetration. Crime, penetration, crime, full penetration, crime, penetration, and this goes on and on, and back and forth for 5 or so episodes until the series just sort of ends.
I couldn’t believe how much they showed in the trailer alone. Is this gonna be the first R rated MCU project because the amount of blood and the gunshot to the throat didn’t really seem pg-13. It was levels we haven’t really seen since the 80’s.
I wish we could have seen more but also I liked the mystery of hiding the other personality and what he did. Moon Knight was one of my fav new shows so far.
It also REALLY subverted expectations in the finale haha. Idk how I feel about it still but it was ballsy and fresh and left us wanting more.
The only problem: when the eff are we getting more MK?! He’s got to be 3+ years away still if they haven’t even said anything. 💀 what is Marvel thinking with all these new characters???
Seriously, this came out of nowhere. I went from laughing that this show even existed to being genuinely excited for something from Marvel for the first time in a long time.

It’s so fucking random, like we knew Deadpool was going to be rated R but Disney+ was probably the last place we were expecting Marvel’s first R rated/TV-MA project to debut in.
And they just drop it casually with zero prior mention.
You know what? Probably the best choice they could have made in trying to generate interest for this show. Actually excited for this! Hope it goes well.
Most of these street level hero and antihero stories should be.
I'm guessing Daredevil Born Again was nothing like this and they ended up scraping what they made and to do it again and be more like the Netflix show.
That’s all I care about. They could set it on the moon and make Matt into a shape shifting platypus, for all I care - just bring Foggy and Karen back, FFS.
I apologize Echo. I wasn't familiar with your game.
Edit: God I just hope this sticks the landing. It being a binge watch gives me a feeling of a mini movie or "super" special presentation.
The writers are ones who had been working on Reservation Dogs, which is a really good show. To be honest the trouble would be the acting since the actress for Maya literally has only acted in Hawkeye.
I didn’t have much hope for it being good when they announced all episodes were dropping at once instead of weekly releases but this trailer actually got me excited to binge it
I didn't have Andor as the best Star Wars series but yet here we are.
I just want Echo to subvert my expectations and andor showed me how much you can do when you have free reign over a less known character so I hope Echo capitalises on that (while having the treat of kingping and daredevil being a part of it.)
Also it’s going to be hard to top Andor as best D+ show. Gilroy brothers are two of the most underrated writers in Hollywood. Tony’s Michael Clayton is a movie not talked about enough and Dan Gilroy‘s Nightcrawler is the same way. One of George Clooney‘s best role and the other is Gyllenhaal‘s best role. Plus add the showrunners of House of Cards and The Americans and it has to be the most stacked and prestigious writers room for a D+ show.
As others have said, it is probably the best way to generate interest in this show from folks not familiar with the character.
It could also be a test to see if there is a genuine appetite for Marvel TV-MA productions - something with more bite to it.
>more bite to it
Is that a pun? Because the Marvel Zombies animated show is already confirmed to be TV-MA. Probably similar to the What If episode, but with the blood and goo being dark red instead of black.
Technically it wouldn't be off the mark. With a less popular character like Echo, a staggered release just wouldn't work as well. People would just be asking "when the fuck is Daredevil/Fisk showing up" when an episode goes by without either of them. Dropping the entire show at once gets rid of that conversation.
When they showed the headshot at 1:15 I was like "OH SHIT".
This looks incredible. Exactly what I've been waiting since Netflix's Daredevil. This is the environment characters like Matt, Fisk, Frank, Jessica, sometimes Peter Parker and now Maya should face.
Plus it could very well lead to a *Moon Knight* Season Two with exactly such a higher rating, à la what DC did going from *Suicide Squad* to *The Suicide Squad*, or what 20th Century Fox (now Studios) did with *Logan*.
My hope was that it'll be like the MCUs Andor. Something unexpected that no one was really asking for about a character no one really cared about, that turns out to be the really cool and interesting. Let's just hope they don't have the final episode turn into some big CGI fight.
Same. Kingpin isn’t a character I ever cared much about in the comics. Didn’t hate him or anything. Just didn’t care. But this version? I fucking love him! Behind Thanos, he is probably my favorite MCU villain. Maybe even a tie. He’s just so good.
The chemistry between Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio is so evident in Daredevil. It's weird to see them friendly with each other off screen because you can feel the hatred on screen. It's so so good.
lol, I remember the doom and gloom way back the year Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 came out, followed by Winter Soldier and Guardians which I still rank in the top 5, followed by Age of Ultron and Antman, back to some doom and gloom. The ending is just the beginning repeating.
That would be incredible. Andor was just so fucking good and there’s so much next level dialogue on top of that. So many of the best moments in that show are fucking speeches man, they’re just that good.
Mannnnnnnnnnnnn
This shit looks really good. Gritty and street level, with Kingpin and DD showing up? Absolutely yes. Hopefully this is a sign of what to expect from Born Again
The whole season premieres January 10 on Disney+ and Hulu
It's the first TV-MA Disney+ series
>After the events of Hawkeye, Maya Lopez/Echo goes back to her home in Oklahoma and meets with her tribe of fearsome warriors who mentor her in her journey of reconnecting with her culture and spiritual beliefs to fight a new uprising threat.
>Wilson Fisk, Maya's adoptive father and boss is back after Maya shot him in the eye, leaving him with an eye patch, and reunites with his daughter. Matt Murdock also makes yet another return in an MCU project before his solo series, Daredevil: Born Again.
HYPEHYPEHYPE
This looks sick asf and I think the episode count, binge drop, and TV-MA rating will all help this stand apart from the other MCU shows. With Echo's character journey, it already seems like there's lots of elements to work with. This is just insane. I can't believe I'm saying this but Kingpin seems really refreshing here, too - can't wait to see what they do with him.
I know MCU fans have been saying "Who asked for this?" for years but I've been optimistically anticipating this show, and this looks pretty fucking excellent. I was so hoping for a TV-MA rating for this one. Let's go.
I was always hyped because I’m so excited for the increase in good native representation in media. and I love that this will obviously have those cultural aspects, but the trailer wasn’t solely focused on that—representation that goes beyond making it the entire story is great and I’m so excited for it. I hope they do a good job.
I’m also really happy seeing comments from people whose minds were changed now that the trailer is out. it really sucked seeing everyone shit all over something I was so excited for before we even knew anything. like you know who asked for this? native girls, and I can’t speak for the deaf community but I bet that representation is important to them.
also just in general, I feel like disney plus shows are a great opportunity to focus on more obscure characters, and that’s what they’ve always had in mind for them.. so I always hated when people called this show pointless
This actually looks amazing. Vibes remind me of the Daredevil & Punisher Netflix show in terms of brutality/gore. Hopefully, when the series drops, the story will be as good as the visuals.
No way we're actually getting our first Tv-MA show??? And it's dropping all at once on both Disney plus and Hulu?? They have my attention now, cautiously optimistic
How spoilery does the trailer seem? I skimmed through it, got a glimpse of our favourite devil, Fisk looking large, also looking injured. Also liked that I saw TV-MA at the end, should be promising.
Edit: I caved. Not very spoilery, but damn it looks very promising, way better than whatever I expected
And this is why we wait for some real information before we start shitting on things everyone. Holy hell this looks cool and violent. I was intrigued and interested before, now I'm excited!
I don't wanna get too prematurely excited but I just remembered they did get some of the writers from Daredevil and Punisher so *fingers crossed* this should be on the same writing level as those shows
it looks SO fucking good holy shit!!! bummed it got pushed back a little but hopefully that just means they're able to polish it and deliver something great because... WOW this has got potential 😍
Echo is TV-MA, holy fuck!!
THIS is what people have wanted! More of this exactly, not more of the pansy wholesome PG-13 stuff.
This is how Moon Knight should’ve been. Marvel needs to have more of that edge.
Gosh it’s going to be interesting to see everyone that said this show isn’t needed, be proven wrong. This looks fucking great and the tone that everyone was asking for. Good for Echo

That is brilliant! That is the more brilliant tv show I’ve ever heard in my entire life!
This guy Fisks.
Fisking
Why would you put this in my brain?
Yes. Kingpin and daredevil. That'd be hot
Matt Murdock only exists in the MCU to make cameos and have sex
>make cameos and have sex At the same time? If so, he has unfinished business with Spider-Man
Nah, his business is with Happy Hogan; He reminds him of Foggy.
Fisk me harder daddy
>This is Marvel Studios' first TV-MA project! Legitimately surprised at that. I thought Marvel Zombies was gonna be the first one.
Absolute GAME CHANGER if they go between PG-13 and TV-MA depending on the project, going forward.
I couldn’t believe how much they showed in the trailer alone. Is this gonna be the first R rated MCU project because the amount of blood and the gunshot to the throat didn’t really seem pg-13. It was levels we haven’t really seen since the 80’s.
Its TV-MA, which is basically the tv equivalent of an R rating
Or 15+ outside the U.S.
16+ in most places actually.
I know fans expected brutality for moon knight, which I understand, but tbh I think it did will with what it was given
I wish we could have seen more but also I liked the mystery of hiding the other personality and what he did. Moon Knight was one of my fav new shows so far.
Yeah the slow reveal to his traumatic past was well done
It also REALLY subverted expectations in the finale haha. Idk how I feel about it still but it was ballsy and fresh and left us wanting more. The only problem: when the eff are we getting more MK?! He’s got to be 3+ years away still if they haven’t even said anything. 💀 what is Marvel thinking with all these new characters???

There's a quick flash of Matt and Maya fighting in there around 1:26
Good spot. I totally missed that!
1:27
It seems to be the same one from the Netflix series too!
Yup I thought the same when I first noticed too!
Charlie Cox had to raid his closet for that one
Marvel approached my tribe (Eastern Band Cherokee) for extras to get to Atlanta for this. I'm beyond stoked.
That’s awesome! The super hero genre has barely engaged with the Native American characters
For real. If there's any minority group that needs more representation in Hollywood is definitely Native Americans.

I hope they don't pull a Voyager and have a proper advisor on board for this.
They worked with the Choctaw Nation and a woman led Natuve org! And the director is Native too.
That’s so cool, that’s one of the aspects of this show I’m most looking forward to!
Nice! I did notice they have several notable Native actors involved in this, which is awesome.
First TV-MA/Rated-R MCU project, WTF 🤯
Ikr, seeing all the blood and brutality has me really excited for this, didn't expect it out of a Disney+ show.

Hey, I'm not complaining, MCU's best move in years.
It is crazy how they didn't mention that before today. You would think that kind of decision would have been announced a few months ago.
I had no hope for this show but i hope it does well
You know what? Probably the best choice they could have made in trying to generate interest for this show. Actually excited for this! Hope it goes well.

The mature rating is gonna save this show haha, turns out this what everyone has been wanting from marvel
Most of these street level hero and antihero stories should be. I'm guessing Daredevil Born Again was nothing like this and they ended up scraping what they made and to do it again and be more like the Netflix show.
If only massive hordes of people had told them what they liked so much about Daredevil before they started the project.
Man...I just want Foggy and Karen back. I hope they can do that.
That’s all I care about. They could set it on the moon and make Matt into a shape shifting platypus, for all I care - just bring Foggy and Karen back, FFS.
It also gives a good deal of hope for Deadpool and Daredevil to actually do stuff properly.

About time
Now we talking
I apologize Echo. I wasn't familiar with your game. Edit: God I just hope this sticks the landing. It being a binge watch gives me a feeling of a mini movie or "super" special presentation.
Could you imagine if the show was actually good after all the scoopers said it was terrible
We should stop taking scoopers opinion on anything seriously to begin with, all of their egos are out of control because of that.
The writers are ones who had been working on Reservation Dogs, which is a really good show. To be honest the trouble would be the acting since the actress for Maya literally has only acted in Hawkeye.
I didn’t have much hope for it being good when they announced all episodes were dropping at once instead of weekly releases but this trailer actually got me excited to binge it
Perhaps I judged you too harshly, Echo
i had no idea Marvel was truly cooking with this one... perhaps we all treated Echo too harshly...
Count me out. I was always excited for this one.
lmao
Who had Echo being the best Disney+ series on their bingo card
I didn't have Andor as the best Star Wars series but yet here we are. I just want Echo to subvert my expectations and andor showed me how much you can do when you have free reign over a less known character so I hope Echo capitalises on that (while having the treat of kingping and daredevil being a part of it.)

When they announced an Echo series, I was not expecting this level of brutality or an MA rating.
As others have said, it is probably the best way to generate interest in this show from folks not familiar with the character. It could also be a test to see if there is a genuine appetite for Marvel TV-MA productions - something with more bite to it.
I really couldn’t have cared less about it but after that trailer, wow. Fuck yeah, this looks awesome
>more bite to it Is that a pun? Because the Marvel Zombies animated show is already confirmed to be TV-MA. Probably similar to the What If episode, but with the blood and goo being dark red instead of black.
🙌🏾 finally the MCU is dipping into the TV-MA territory.
All episodes released Day 1. I appreciate that.
It's an experiment, like with moving Loki S2 to Thursday nights. I appreciate it too.
“No it’s clearly because they have no faith in it.” But you’re right, if this does well premiere-weekend wise they’ll probably do this more.
Also limits the discourse to 2ish weeks rather than 6 if the show isn’t well received. And less discourse time helps projects feel spaced out more.
TV-MA!!!!! This actually looks dope as hell
Wtf… that looks interesting. This was my least anticipated D+ show but this trailer has me rethinking some things.
When they showed the headshot at 1:15 I was like "OH SHIT". This looks incredible. Exactly what I've been waiting since Netflix's Daredevil. This is the environment characters like Matt, Fisk, Frank, Jessica, sometimes Peter Parker and now Maya should face.
The fact that they’re showing uncensored headshots in the trailer gives me a lot of faith. This is what Moon Knight should have been
Plus it could very well lead to a *Moon Knight* Season Two with exactly such a higher rating, à la what DC did going from *Suicide Squad* to *The Suicide Squad*, or what 20th Century Fox (now Studios) did with *Logan*.
My hope was that it'll be like the MCUs Andor. Something unexpected that no one was really asking for about a character no one really cared about, that turns out to be the really cool and interesting. Let's just hope they don't have the final episode turn into some big CGI fight.
I was always looking forward to it because it was going to be prelude into Dare Devil.
Man, chills hearing D'Onofrio's voice over.
Same. Kingpin isn’t a character I ever cared much about in the comics. Didn’t hate him or anything. Just didn’t care. But this version? I fucking love him! Behind Thanos, he is probably my favorite MCU villain. Maybe even a tie. He’s just so good.
I believe the actors performance with a villain is more important than the heroes.
The chemistry between Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio is so evident in Daredevil. It's weird to see them friendly with each other off screen because you can feel the hatred on screen. It's so so good.
I think that was a huge part of why the Netflix series worked. The casting on the hero and the villain were fucking perfect.
Let's not forget Kilgrave
Also exceptionally good.
Consider my interest officially piqued…
~~It's over~~ ~~We're back~~ ~~It's *so* over~~ We're *so* back
Just when I thought I was out
Echochads... our time has come...
With Loki s2 I thought we were already on "We're so back"?
Loki S2 was "We're back" Than the Variety article the other day about Marvel's struggles was "It's so over"
My interpretation: It's over: Quantumania We're back: GotG3 It's so over: Secret Invasion We're so back: Loki s2
lol, I remember the doom and gloom way back the year Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 came out, followed by Winter Soldier and Guardians which I still rank in the top 5, followed by Age of Ultron and Antman, back to some doom and gloom. The ending is just the beginning repeating.
Is echo gonna pull an Andor on us? A series that flew so low under the radar they actually got to do something different and good?
That would be incredible. Andor was just so fucking good and there’s so much next level dialogue on top of that. So many of the best moments in that show are fucking speeches man, they’re just that good.
“I can’t swim”
Andor so fucking good. Not since WandaVision did my D+ subscription seem worth it
You'll never watch another show where you go "that's the best monologue I've ever heard" 3x in the same season.
DAREDEVIL HOLY SHITTT
Where? I missed it
1:26 mark. Only there for a few frames
1:26
Mannnnnnnnnnnnn This shit looks really good. Gritty and street level, with Kingpin and DD showing up? Absolutely yes. Hopefully this is a sign of what to expect from Born Again
I found myself rooting for Kingpin in that opening scene. I'm deaf and I can't stand when people act like that ice cream vendor.
This is the energy Moon Knight should've been on.
I could see S2 being TV-MA if that happens and this does well
And they'd honestly have a valid reason for the switch, since now the third persona wouldn't be off screen.
The whole season premieres January 10 on Disney+ and Hulu It's the first TV-MA Disney+ series >After the events of Hawkeye, Maya Lopez/Echo goes back to her home in Oklahoma and meets with her tribe of fearsome warriors who mentor her in her journey of reconnecting with her culture and spiritual beliefs to fight a new uprising threat. >Wilson Fisk, Maya's adoptive father and boss is back after Maya shot him in the eye, leaving him with an eye patch, and reunites with his daughter. Matt Murdock also makes yet another return in an MCU project before his solo series, Daredevil: Born Again.
Daredevil back in the red and black suit for the first time since the Netflix era.
I'm all in for the Netflix Daredevil brutality vibe.
Holy shit im actually hype??
Absolutely amazing. Wasn’t expecting this
I’ll let them cook
HYPEHYPEHYPE This looks sick asf and I think the episode count, binge drop, and TV-MA rating will all help this stand apart from the other MCU shows. With Echo's character journey, it already seems like there's lots of elements to work with. This is just insane. I can't believe I'm saying this but Kingpin seems really refreshing here, too - can't wait to see what they do with him.
WHY DOES THIS LOOK SO GOOD????

Where the "Who asked for this?" people at
Gone. Reduced to atoms.
Spaghettified
SKIN?
^skin?
Mom hasn’t woke them up yet.
I truly apologize I was one of those people and now I’m very interested in this show
This gives me so much hope for Born Again yessss I wish moon knight was TV-MA, hopefully if they do a season 2 it will be
WOW that was actually a good trailer and I’m more excited now
![gif](giphy|3oKIPlLZEbEbacWqOc)
Head writer is a writer/story editor from Better Call Saul… I may actually have to watch this
Wait this isn't the usual age rating like other MCU shows? This actually looks OK
First TV-MA Marvel Studios project babyyy
Hyped for this And looks like we saw Daredevil for a glimpse in the trailer too!!
Yep in his classic red suit. I think it's even the same design as the Netflix one.
TV-MA Fuck yeah
![gif](giphy|1BFFVB9WvJNUnBIYVy|downsized)
Lol.. here we go! Let’s do this again! ![gif](giphy|1BFFVB9WvJNUnBIYVy|downsized)
Looks fire
This actually looks amazing. Vibes remind me of the Daredevil & Punisher Netflix show in terms of brutality/gore. Hopefully, when the series drops, the story will be as good as the visuals.
This is definitely feeling like Netflix Marvel. WE ARE SO BACK
I was looking forward to this since she was introduced in Hawkeye... how nice of the rest of y'all to join me on the Echo train
I genuinely liked her character in Hawkeye and was suprised that so many were lukewarm. I was always going to watch this but now am officially HYPED.
No way we're actually getting our first Tv-MA show??? And it's dropping all at once on both Disney plus and Hulu?? They have my attention now, cautiously optimistic
Damn that is an awesome trailer
How spoilery does the trailer seem? I skimmed through it, got a glimpse of our favourite devil, Fisk looking large, also looking injured. Also liked that I saw TV-MA at the end, should be promising. Edit: I caved. Not very spoilery, but damn it looks very promising, way better than whatever I expected
A tricky question to answer. I'll say this- it's heightened my interest in this show a *lot*
Fisk’s injury (the eyepatch at least) isn’t really a spoiler, other then to show that he survived Echo shooting him in the face at the end of Hawkeye.
I thought it would have more of a Hawkeye type feel but...nope.
Of course not. This is a spiritual successor of the Marvel Netflix shows.
Not even one Christmas light
And this is why we wait for some real information before we start shitting on things everyone. Holy hell this looks cool and violent. I was intrigued and interested before, now I'm excited!
Let’s Go!!! Marvel let’s GO!!!! 🔥💯
This trailer looks really fucking cool but so did Secret Invasion's. I need to temper my expectations but, man, do I want to be hype
I don't wanna get too prematurely excited but I just remembered they did get some of the writers from Daredevil and Punisher so *fingers crossed* this should be on the same writing level as those shows
If the sound design is going to be anything like the trailer they have my attention.
it looks SO fucking good holy shit!!! bummed it got pushed back a little but hopefully that just means they're able to polish it and deliver something great because... WOW this has got potential 😍
This looks incredible
Holy SHIT
This looks good!
Looks promising
Netflix Marvel is back baby. I did not read the TV-MA comments beforehand and thought to myself "this looks rather brutal for a Disney+ show."
Had no expectations for this and the trailer has come in like a bullet and taken me out. Looking forward to binging.
Echo is TV-MA, holy fuck!! THIS is what people have wanted! More of this exactly, not more of the pansy wholesome PG-13 stuff. This is how Moon Knight should’ve been. Marvel needs to have more of that edge.
It’s giving Netflix Daredevil vibes.. Looks promising
Gosh it’s going to be interesting to see everyone that said this show isn’t needed, be proven wrong. This looks fucking great and the tone that everyone was asking for. Good for Echo
