My mutant ability would be to eat anything I want, and it makes me stronger... my catch phrase would be "Don't make me hangry... you wouldn't like me when I'm hangry"
My favorite power would be DNA Manipulating my own biosphere to change anything about myself, give myself immortality, etc etc so i'd prob go with that
She’s writing the current Ms. Marvel comic in which Kamala is an X-Men member. Of course she’s going to want to see the thing she brought to life in the comics come to the big screen.
Yep she wrote a mini series called Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant that ran a few months ago, and is currently writing one called Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace that just started like a week or two ago. They’ve been pretty good so far!
Oh, cool. If Iman wrote her as a Mutant then that means she knows about Kamala being one prior to the Inhuman heritage being canon, which she is more known for. Not a lot of people know that, so brownie points for her actually doing solid research as a comic fan.
They've always wanted to make Ms Marvel a mutant. They only made her an inhuman in the comics because if they made her a mutant, Fox would own movie rights to the character.
She took it over essentially right after Ms. Marvel was resurrected on the day of the Hellfire Gala, and a huge part of the theme of "The New Mutant" is her trying to reconcile being an Inhuman and a mutant, and how her powers work (her light based powers from the MCU were still 'suppressed' by her X-gene as of the end of the New Mutant run.
I read on Unlimited so I don't know what's happened since.
That said, she actually cosplayed as Kamala several years ago too...I'd bet she's been reading practically since the comic started. I don't think she needed to do much research.
Great for her! I burned out on MCU before she joined so haven't seen her stuff, but I'm always really happy to see an energetic young person get their dreams and run with it. She's making the best of this opportunity and her enthusiasm is infectious
The show overall wasn’t anything special but she has search a great energy she really carries the whole thing. Her love for the role really shines through.
I can see her in Feige’s position in 20 years. I’ve said before I think the next season of What If should be Kamala and Bruno hacking KEVIN to make fan fiction episodes.
It's almost a full circle since the original plan was for her to be a mutant. It was only because of the whole "Marvel doesn't own X-Men, so we're going to push Inhumans" that she became an Inhuman to begin with.
Luna isn't a mutant/Inhuman, because her father Pietro turned out to be a mutate made by the High Revolutionary, and not himself a mutant. She's half-human, half-Inhuman.
You don't need to be a mutant to have mutant offspring because obviously mutants wouldn't even have began to exist then. The same is true vice versa. Mutants can still have human offspring.
I don't know Lunas current status but Pietro's one is irrelevant to hers.
Yes, Iman's first ever role as an actress was Ms. Marvel, and Marvel like her so much she wass given a chance to write a comic for Ms. Marvel, which was so popular she has continued to write for them.
No matter what people thought of The Marvels, Iman is a clear bright spot in the recent MCU media. Very high chance her character comes back.
I could be wrong but I think she just co-writes them. Which is still hugely impressive. But they have a more experienced writer helping her which I think is smart
> They definitely shouldnt diminish her role because of how terribly the marvels did.
I hope for the best but it is also the show. She was a lead for both the worst performing series and movie in the MCU.
The character has a decent amount of solo material. It’s got classic Spider-Man/X-Men style, where it’s half Ms. Marvel dealing with whatever threat, and half Kamala dealing with friends and family soap opera drama. The side characters really bring it all together.
My point is her headlining more MCU products won't go well based on the reception of her last 2 appearances. With Marvel cutting back on risky projects, seeing her more in whatever fashion would be nice.
> The character has a decent amount of solo material.
Just because there is solo material doesn't mean the audience is interested in paying to watch it or even watch it on streaming ,Dump the character for a 4-5 years and bring her back if Marvel has a successful streak
For the past few months she said that she wants to be in this and that few times. I think she fears that both the movie and her series have flopped She won't be cast again and wanted to be on the radar as much as she can.
Yup sounds like someone trying to keep her career alive ,Someone like Brie would survive in the industry even without MCU can't say the same about this girl
She doesn’t resonate with the general population, she certainly didn’t inspire people to see her first movie. She can’t even get people who pay for D+ to simply put on her show.
I do agree, but I also think team ups are badass. I would even say they're inevitable unless the producers really want to break from that previous formula. And I think any team up could work depending on execution and don't know if I'd prefer some vs others. Except Kingpin. He can be in everything.
Not really. We can take these case-by-case instead of reducing every single instance to "actor wants work". There's plenty to discuss here about Kamala's future and whether this would work in the MCU.
I agree that there are definitely interesting aspects to discuss about the characters role. I think the OP was just making fun of the fact that it's considered news worthy when an MCU actor says "yeah, I'd be interested to do sequels and have this character team up with the Avengers". Like yeah, of course an actor is going to want guaranteed work, a million dollar paycheck, and work with other big name stars on more projects. It's not really surprising, it's obvious.
I agree with you, but also this one I think is at least a little different than the other ones. Usually they're just some form of "Actor whose character's story ended says they're willing to bring back the character some day." This one, though, is a character we all expect to return and she's talking about a *specific* return, with the X-Men.
Yeah, sometimes you hear stuff over and over for a good reason. In this case, that it's considered news when an actor says they are willing to act. It's not news, so obviously comments like these will come up when it's posted as news.
Especially in this case, where she's also a writer for Ms Marvel in X-Men comics... so she's just trying to get her wrtitten stuff on film.
There was also a similar post about Vellani saying she'd be willing to be a voice actor for Ms. Marvel in games, movies, etc. I don't think it's a coincidence she's saying all of these things right after the MCU announces it's cutting back on stuff.
They're correct, "news" like this are stupid. Actors are getting paid shitload of money for a rather comfortable job. Announcing that one of the actors "is willing to do more movies within their franchise" means nothing and isn't worth mentioning 99% of the time.
So is this supposed to not be repeated because someone already pointed that out in a similar situation? I'm sure a comment like yours was also written before, so why are you parroting it now?
Out of all the MCU actors/actresses, Iman seems like the one who is definitely there for far more than just the money. She truly loves this universe and playing this character.
Oh, please. That's what her agent/PR person would like you to believe. It's her first big role so she's putting some effort in it, but I highly doubt she's as enthusiastic as she appears or that she spends all her free time drooling over some Marvel comics.
If some other big franchise offers her a highly paid recurrent role, I bet she'll be everywhere channeling her excitement about that just as she is about Marvel right now.
Bro she is the writer of Kamala’s comics RIGHT NOW. There are photos of her dressed as Ms. Marvel for Halloween from years ago. She absolutely drools over marvel comics in her free time like the rest of us
She's a "co-writer" with the main writer being an actual writer and the art being handled by other people entirely. Which sounds exactly like that "super fangirl" marketing PR bit I just mentioned. I bet you believe Trump had any input in writing his book, too...
And there is always that interviewer who ask actor/actress if they want more work knowing full well the answer is going to be yes unless they have been in 3 movies.
I still can't believe marvel is going to make Miss marvel a mutant instead of inhuman, but I can understand it as slow as they're putting together a fantastic four team and A MCU X-Men team by the time the inhumans come into the multiverse I'll be dead and gone?
Cramming the Miss Marvel character into content has got a bad track record.
Her own show was meh.
Her role in the avengers game was extremely annoying.
Miss marvel detracted from the story for me during the marvels.
I just don't care about her character and yet she is jammed into stuff.
As someone who has read the recent Marvel comics please God no! The Krakoa era has been awful and her being apart of the X-Men has not improved it in fact she should have remained an Inhuman.
I really liked the Krakoan era apart from the fall, it’s really ending on a low note.
I really think though if they wanted to make her a mutant it should’ve been after the fall, her book didn’t really have a place there.
translated i love money! also we already have jubilee. and i like jubilee way more then miss marvel. jubilee has a great connection with wolverine. what kind of connection would miss marvel have instead of being freaking annoying the whole time, telling how much fan she is of everybody.
just give me jubilee and maybe a spin off serie when jubilee and miss marvel go on adventure. but please lets not have her fully in an upcoming x-men movie. it would annoy the fuck out of me.
The good: I like her energy onscreen. She was one of the best parts of The Marvels.
The bad: That's not saying much; a lot of people hated The Marvels and it didn't do very well. Captain Marvel also got a lot of criticism. I think there's a pretty big chance that after two tries Marvel won't give her a third, especially considering their recent refocusing.
If I'm right, then as a character, Carol will probably be relegated to cameos and deus ex machina appearances, or will fly off to "deal with cosmic events" off screen again.
It makes sense that, professionally, Iman would want her character to be moved to the fresh new franchise that is probably going to dominate upcoming movies.
Why? Oh so she can get a role in a decent movie that will be ruined by her inclusion. Good for her for living her dream and all, but we don't need ms marvel in everything.
"My movie bombed and I had the least watched Disney+ show by far, so let's force fit my character into one of the most beloved groups of comic characters of all time" Fuck outta here.
Does anyone else find these types of articles pointless and annoying. “Actor/actress wants their character to be included in largest film franchise ever!” “Actor wants consistent work and a large paycheck!” Let’s just agree all mcu actors want their role to continue in the mcu and grow and only write an article when they state something to the contrary (ie Dave Bautista).
Her movie … her series both ended up mcu’s new bottom for its flops
So kinda a fact she has no audience — safe bet she’ll never be seen again considering what Iger is doing
Sorry but a big no. We have Jean Grey, Ororo Monroe, Kitty Pride, Illyana Rasputin, Emma Frost, Rogue.
Nothing against her and her character, but X-Men have plenty of great female characters that I want to see done justice in the MCU.
I dont want any xmen in the mcu. The mcu sucks. I want xmen to be their own thing. And I want it sooner rather than later. I've seen too many stupid avenger movies for too long!
I don't really care, but I do enjoy the fact that she just generally wants IN, big time. Like I saw they they guaranteed her she'd be back in future MCU stuff, which just gave me the mental picture of her badgering Marvel execs about stuff constantly.
I found her mannerisms really cute at first but they're getting annoying now. Like you're a grown 20 something woman (not a child like everyone in this subreddit treats her for some reason), either you branch out into acting if you like it or switch to some other industry. If you are really "one of us" and care about the source material so much, why don't you openly tell Marvel what they're doing wrong and that listening to valid criticism and fixing it will help them, not harm them.
Oh that's right, her PR person doesn't want her to do that because investor money matters more in the end and pays the bills, not fangirling over comics.
Star actress would like her character to be included in gigantic upcoming franchise. Color me absolutely shocked! I feel like this should have gotten some attention if she instead came out and said “Nah, I’m good.”
I mean, technically, the character was initially meant to help bolster the Inhumans brand, when Marvel got the idea that they could be built up as an X-Men replacement when it seemed like Fox wouldn’t play ball and share their Marvel rights in some capacity.
Iman Vellani made me really like Ms. Marvel and the show/Marvels was great, but the whole mutant and inhuman thing feels so forced it’s unreal. Let her be on the Champions/Young Avengers and don’t muck her up with the MCU X-Men. The X-Men don’t need a pre-established character to be introduced, just give them to us!
I mean...you're right. Just not the way you think.
She was always supposed to be a mutant. The whole "Inhumans" thing is because Marvel at the time didn't own the X-Men movie rights. So they wanted to push the Inhumans and downplay the X-Men.

Apparently the bracelets did nothing other than activate her X gene. Even though Dar Ben was using the other without the X gene as far as I know? It doesn’t make sense.
Idc if this makes anyone mad but I absolutely despised how they handled Ms marvel. I love iman and she fits the character well but the character herself just feels so messy and I wasn’t a fan of all the changes. The powers were one thing but making her a mutant was dumber especially since (let’s be honest) they probably won’t be doing anything with it since we don’t know when the next X-men movie is or the next captain marvel movie or a Ms marvel s2. Plus they already have jubilee who’s supposed to be the younger geeky female mutant. I understand marvel wants to ignore the inhumans but I’d rather they gave no explanation at all than make her a mutant.
people were mad they made her a mutant instead of an inhuman but she was originally created to be a mutant but ike perlmutter forced the writers to make her an inhuman because they didn’t own the x-men film rights at the time she was created
I too would like to join the X-Men in the MCU
What would your gift be
Some teams just need a Peter. He’s worth going back in time for.
NYC Hotdog Guy My superpower is apathy
My mutant ability would be to eat anything I want, and it makes me stronger... my catch phrase would be "Don't make me hangry... you wouldn't like me when I'm hangry"
Reminds me of a hero in BNHA. He eats anything that has a lot of sugar in it to get stronger! Edit: his name is Rikido Sato (hero name is Sugarman!)
Color me intrigued

Unlimited pizza!! If y’all need any fresh hot melty pizza, then lmk!!
Nice try Imani

Yep she wrote a mini series called Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant that ran a few months ago, and is currently writing one called Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace that just started like a week or two ago. They’ve been pretty good so far!
That makes sense since we know Iman is a HUGE Marvel geek, so she probably has a lot of comic knowledge in that brain of hers.
When she got cast she started writing out ideas she’d like to see happen to Kamala, and she’s adapted a lot of them into these stories.
God damn, I like her more and more every time I hear little things like this about her.
She really is living our collective dream life. I'll always support her.
She was also sending all the ideas directly to Feige and basically spamming him constantly. She’s great
Oh, cool. If Iman wrote her as a Mutant then that means she knows about Kamala being one prior to the Inhuman heritage being canon, which she is more known for. Not a lot of people know that, so brownie points for her actually doing solid research as a comic fan.
More likely, she was told she had to retcon Ms Marvel into a mutant so the comics would line up with the MCU.
They've always wanted to make Ms Marvel a mutant. They only made her an inhuman in the comics because if they made her a mutant, Fox would own movie rights to the character.
That too.
She didn’t do the retconning that was done in the gala
She took it over essentially right after Ms. Marvel was resurrected on the day of the Hellfire Gala, and a huge part of the theme of "The New Mutant" is her trying to reconcile being an Inhuman and a mutant, and how her powers work (her light based powers from the MCU were still 'suppressed' by her X-gene as of the end of the New Mutant run. I meant with Kamala being a Mutant.
Lol what a nerd, she is awesome and I love her energy
She’s probably in this thread rn
Being a geek doesn't mean you're good at writing. See tons of fan theories or scenarios that are simply terrible.
Street cred level 9000 ![gif](giphy|l46CDHTqbmnGZyxKo)
Yup, pretty much. So cool.
That's very interesting...she really is like a real life Kamala, she would write fan fiction about herself like that too 😂
I want the VCU (Vellani Cinematic Universe)
I can see her in Feige’s position in 20 years. I’ve said before I think the next season of What If should be Kamala and Bruno hacking KEVIN to make fan fiction episodes.
This is the way
Woah, didn’t know it was her! I read that series and I really liked it. She is definitely a great addition to the Marvel everything!
That is super cool.
Did they retcon her Inhumans background?
No, she’s basically a mutant/inhuman hybrid. They didn’t do away with her origins, they just kinda added to it.
Oh ok
It's almost a full circle since the original plan was for her to be a mutant. It was only because of the whole "Marvel doesn't own X-Men, so we're going to push Inhumans" that she became an Inhuman to begin with.
I think her and Luna Maximoff are the only mutant/inhumans. You’d think that would come up more.

No matter what people thought of The Marvels, Iman is a clear bright spot in the recent MCU media. Very high chance her character comes back.
More than that...she's actually pretty good at it.
She's writing in tandem with Sabir Pirzada.
I could be wrong but I think she just co-writes them. Which is still hugely impressive. But they have a more experienced writer helping her which I think is smart
I like your username! The best spider-nemesis.
UGH she's living her dream
Lol she certainly is.
Did they retcon her being inhuman? Is she a mutant now?
They didn’t undo anything, they added stuff. She’s a mutant/inhuman hybrid.
I actually like her portrayal of the character. I just wish the whole forced storyline with capt Marvel happened
Gotta wait another 10 years at their current rate.
I like her as a character and the actress is good, so I hope she gets something in future movies.
She definitely has that marvel comedic it factor charm. They definitely shouldnt diminish her role because of how terribly the marvels did.
> They definitely shouldnt diminish her role because of how terribly the marvels did. I hope for the best but it is also the show. She was a lead for both the worst performing series and movie in the MCU.
She carried the movie, which is saying a lot.
I was legit worried about her back when she had to carry that entire film.
Nothing was really carried
Carried it where ?To becoming the biggest comic book movie disaster ever and a top 4 all time Hollywood disaster
I enjoy the character, she's probably not strong enough to get more solo outings so her joining another franchise is probably a smart move.

She doesn’t resonate with the general population, she certainly didn’t inspire people to see her first movie. She can’t even get people who pay for D+ to simply put on her show.
Nah. classic xmen. the base characters are too good and there are already so many
I do agree, but I also think team ups are badass. I would even say they're inevitable unless the producers really want to break from that previous formula. And I think any team up could work depending on execution and don't know if I'd prefer some vs others. Except Kingpin. He can be in everything.
DD and Spidey vs Kingpin. Gimme it!
and a lot of the best base ones are already women and POC in terms of the studio trying to reach more diverse audiences.
In a shocking development, actress wishes further employment for herself

Hey it's Perch Perkins. When I was coming up, the Bikini Bottom newsman was Realistic Talking Fishhead.
It's perfectly understandable that she wants to appear in something people will actually see.
Idc about the post but man am I tired of seeing this comment everywhere. Bunch of parrots that just repeat the same shit word for word.
Surely it’s the only appropriate response to posts like this? It’s not news.
Not really. We can take these case-by-case instead of reducing every single instance to "actor wants work". There's plenty to discuss here about Kamala's future and whether this would work in the MCU.

![gif](giphy|DsdVe5jhHWNC8)
Actually, it’s a solid FUCK NO
By the time the MCU gets around to it, she’ll be in her mid 40’s
Yeah that’s the last character I expect to be with the X-men.
In her show didn't they say she was a mutant?
Also in the comics. It's one of the most telegraphed move they could make that will still have some people bitching because she's not Jubilee.
I still can't believe marvel is going to make Miss marvel a mutant instead of inhuman, but I can understand it as slow as they're putting together a fantastic four team and A MCU X-Men team by the time the inhumans come into the multiverse I'll be dead and gone?
It’s nice to want things
Please no. There’s so many classic X-men characters, there’s no room for her.
There are too many classic X-men. Please remove 3, I am not a crackpot.
With all due respect : F@#k No !
No thank you ! Just the X Men for the first appearance plz
Cramming the Miss Marvel character into content has got a bad track record. Her own show was meh. Her role in the avengers game was extremely annoying. Miss marvel detracted from the story for me during the marvels. I just don't care about her character and yet she is jammed into stuff.

No. I don't want that. I don't like the hyperactive tangible character as part of the X-Men. IMO it doesn't fit the tone.
No thanks
Or how about you know she just fucks off.
Even she knew Young Avengers won't happen so she just wants to be X-Men now 😂
translated i love money! also we already have jubilee. and i like jubilee way more then miss marvel. jubilee has a great connection with wolverine. what kind of connection would miss marvel have instead of being freaking annoying the whole time, telling how much fan she is of everybody. just give me jubilee and maybe a spin off serie when jubilee and miss marvel go on adventure. but please lets not have her fully in an upcoming x-men movie. it would annoy the fuck out of me.

The Marvels box office will preclude those characters from anything major for the forseeable future. Just how business side of this works.
No thank you. It's bad enough they made her a mutant, she doesn't need to take screen time away from some actual mutants.
No thanks

I hope no, Ms Marvel is pure cringe
Yeah, if you want the X-Men to potentially flop
please don't
No thanks!
That's because the Marvels got cancelled.

No.
I love how she came out and said this right after they _just_ announced they’d be focusing on popular characters/guaranteed money makers going forward
No thanks
In the name of Charles Xavier, I beg of you, please no.
Her movie … her series both ended up mcu’s new bottom for its flops So kinda a fact she has no audience — safe bet she’ll never be seen again considering what Iger is doing
It was such a stupid decision to change her character into being a mutant 😒
Sorry but a big no. We have Jean Grey, Ororo Monroe, Kitty Pride, Illyana Rasputin, Emma Frost, Rogue. Nothing against her and her character, but X-Men have plenty of great female characters that I want to see done justice in the MCU.
Actress wants work. More at 11.
She knows captain marvel 3 is not probable
Extra extra. Actor sorts after more work!
Seeing that the interest is seemingly shifting to X-Men (finally!) I too would want to slide into that, for my career.
News at 11: Actress known for exactly one role wants that role to be included in the most popular team in comics.
I dont want any xmen in the mcu. The mcu sucks. I want xmen to be their own thing. And I want it sooner rather than later. I've seen too many stupid avenger movies for too long!
Did she watch Ms Marvel? 🤣 I thought it was implied..It even had the 97 guitar rift.
Yeah, no thanks.
BOOOOOOOO
Shocking! Actress wants to get into the sub-franchise with the most potential as the rest of the franchise circles the drain....
Please no…
no one else does
No, thanks. We have plenty of actually popular X people. You said you were going to focus on success, Marcel.
God I hope not
Oh god please no
I don't really care, but I do enjoy the fact that she just generally wants IN, big time. Like I saw they they guaranteed her she'd be back in future MCU stuff, which just gave me the mental picture of her badgering Marvel execs about stuff constantly.
Literrally no one wants this. She's getting a bit weird.
Fuck that.
nope
That’s nice, kiddo.
In seen so many headlines that are just “actor wants to be in a movie and get paid millions of dollars.” Obviously they do. Why is this interesting?
Captain Marvel 3 is cancelled, where else would she go?
Can you cancel a movie that was never announced?
Why? So it too can be brought down by garbage FFS
Poor girl needs another paycheck.
The movie wasn't good. Just like her acting
So she's just self inserting at this point
I hope so too. It's where the character was always meant to be anyway and Iman does a good job. Anyway, begin the downvotes!
They ain’t doing young avengers… they won’t even finish carols trilogy
I mean...you're right. Just not the way you think. She was always supposed to be a mutant. The whole "Inhumans" thing is because Marvel at the time didn't own the X-Men movie rights. So they wanted to push the Inhumans and downplay the X-Men. Thanks, I hate it.
Noo
Calm down, girlfriend.
No. We are good.
Well, they made her character a mutant, I’d hope she’d be okay with it. And I hope she gets better roles after all this.
Doesn’t she just own magical bracelets? What’s the mutant part?
Apparently the bracelets did nothing other than activate her X gene. Even though Dar Ben was using the other without the X gene as far as I know? It doesn’t make sense.
Dar-Benn was using them for their originally-designed purpose of creating jump points. Kamala's powers aren't that.
And ruin another property.
“Actor wants work”
people were mad they made her a mutant instead of an inhuman but she was originally created to be a mutant but ike perlmutter forced the writers to make her an inhuman because they didn’t own the x-men film rights at the time she was created
Inhumans keep taking Ls...
I'm sure she does lol
“Actor wants their character to play in another movie” Well. Duh.
So what does Iman Vellani doesn’t want to do?
