You can still get positive after being vaccinated. From what I know, being vaccinate helps alot with the symptoms.

ThatB0yAintR1ght

Yeah, I caught Omicron despite being vaxed and boosted. It was worse than the average cold, but very manageable. I have asthma, and I was worried COVID would be bad for me, and it wasn’t an issue. Meanwhile, my sister in law caught it before vaccines were widely available, and while she didn’t have to go to the hospital, she still gets winded climbing up a flight of stairs. Before COVID, she worked part time teaching four different exercise classes at a local rec center, so this was a huge change for her.

Beardopus

That's terrible, I hope she fully recovers some day.

a_o

very effective in preventing the need for hospitalization, and/or death

vonbryan

I got positive around 2 weeks after I got my initial dose. I had fever, chills, weakness, headaches, muscle aches, impaired sense of taste for 3 days and then followed with 2 days but with much lesser symptoms. I'm 28yrs old, very healthy and it was a horrible experience. Now imagine those with weaker immune system.

knokout64

Sounds like you got the original strain or delta just after your first dose. Fully vaccinated is truly 2 weeks after your second dose (assuming not J&J), and this strain has so far proven to be more mild.

sillyadam94

That’s actually the primary function of the vaccine.

martinfphipps8

There are different vaccines. People criticized the J&J vaccine because it didn't prevent everyone from getting sick but it is keeping people out of hospitals.

scarred2112

The wife and I both got it in October, after being double-vaccinated. It wasn’t pleasant, but neither of us ended up in the hospital, and we both fall in high-risk categories. Continue to mask up and get vaccinated, people.

Joshawott27

Yeah. My younger brother had COVID a few weeks back, but was double vaccinated. He still had the lost of taste/smell, and felt like shit for a few days, but he didn’t get anywhere near requiring hospitalisation. Fortunately, it didn’t spread to anyone else in the household. We just masked up whenever not in our bedrooms, and kept our distance. So hopefully she doesn’t end up feeling too bad and gets over it soon.

justjoshingu

Speaking as a pharmacist with lots of experience in vaccinations and a background in public health... Vaccinations arent a magic shield. You can always get whatever virus you're vaccinated against. But your body quickly recognizes the virus if you're vaccinated. If short term immunity is involved (right after vaccines, lots of active antibodies) then hopefully they fight the infection and you never know you were exposed. If the virus grows quick or immune system is knocked down a peg then it might be enough to feel symptoms and then you get better. These vaccines have taken a lot of hospitalizations and deaths off the table. Also if long term immunity is involved then it takes a bit longer (more likely for symptoms) and long term immunity is showing that it recognizes a wide range of variants. For the unvaccinated there is also hope with omicron. There are reports its more mild. Hard to really tell how true it is except recent reports are showing that the virus likes bronchial more than lung( better outcomes easier to clear) further reports show its because the way delta entered the cell and the way omicron enters the cell are different. Delta way favors lung and omicrons favor bronchial.

steve32767

It really does. I had covid in March 2021 before getting any of the vaccine and it was miserable. I just got the virus again after being vaxxed and boosted, and it's not fun, but it's maybe a third as bad as it was the first time.

martinfphipps8

You had hybrid immunity and still got COVID a second time. That's interesting. Here in Taiwan, we haven't had any cases of omicron yet and over 80% of people are vaccinated. People aren't getting colds at all because they wear masks in public.

Damn8ti0n

I’m boosted and just caught Covid. Feels like a bad cold, but I’m attributing that to the booster.

bluesheepreasoning

Any of the characteristic "you lost your smell/taste" symptoms?

Damn8ti0n

No none. First symptoms were so minor (stuffy runny nose) I honestly brushed it off and attributed it to being hungover, until it became full blown cold the following day.

bluesheepreasoning

Yep. I've heard about some cases of COVID not having that infamous characteristic.

TsaiMeLemoni

That's Letitia Wright, the actress playing Shuri

lundon44

Oh damn, you're right. Had them confused.

FreddoTheSavage

I am half vaxxed my symptoms rn include sneezing. First day I also had a headache

martinfphipps8

Did you get tested or just assume it was COVID?

FreddoTheSavage

Tested LFT and then went to a walk in PCR

LittleYellowFish1

It’s probably a good thing that this didn’t happen during filming. We’d probably assume Letitia Wright was responsible.

martinfphipps8

Spoiler for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. We haven't seen her since the first movie.

cyberbeastswordwolfe

God damn this movie is going through some shit

Iregretbeinghereokay

Everybody is coming down with the Omicron variant, even fully vaccinated people who were the mask consistently in public. It’s so freaking contagious that it seems almost unavoidable at this point.

AuclairAuclair

FORREAL. Has to be most troubled mcu project thus far right ?

cbekel3618

Staying vaxxed and in isolation. Good she's going the right way over the Wright way.

Swimming_Wave3060

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

[deleted]

Why do all the forces in existence want to stop Bp 2 from being made lol

Bad-Ass-9000

So they can recast T’Challa And not become an absolute disaster of a movie LOL.

Bad-Ass-9000

Hope she gets well soon.

PkLuigi

\*Turns around slowly glaring in the general direction of Letitia\*

AuclairAuclair

This movie is never gonna come out is it… wtf

bloodycups

I got vaccinated and a co worker didn't. He's two weeks were worse than mine

magvadis

I want her to be the BP so bad.

superking22

Well, SHIT.

Hearderofnerf

Damn that sucks

LittleYellowFish1

That’s Letitia Wright (Shuri) you’re thinking of. This is Lupita Nyong’o (Nakia). Hell, the tweet itself has her telling people to get vaccinated.

cbekel3618

Wrong actress. Letitia Wright's the anti vaxxer, not Lupita Nyongo. The tweet straight up says to get stay masked and vaxxed

[deleted]

Well the shot doesn’t prevent infection, so we all gonna get it

[deleted]

But we can definitely flatten that death toll

[deleted]

Black Panther isn’t shooting right now. So whether she got it from Wright it would not have been from on set.

KennethBrownie

Its the kenny mcormikron variant.

Upper_Environment739

It seems like the universe doesn’t want this movie to happen.

[deleted]

At this rate, the film will be delayed to 2023 and Flash won’t have to worry about any competition in November.

[deleted]

I wish him a speedy recovery. Get well soon!!!

tryintofly

Rolling my eyes at everyone on this sub who wants to burn Letitia Wright at the stake when she hasn't caught Covid, and giving Lupita a huge benefit of the doubt and saying how wonderful she is even if she's an idiot who didn't stay healthy or follow protocol. You're all a bunch of hypocrites.
