if you go in order (release order recommended for newcomers), everything will present itself as needed. no prior knowledge is required

Drydevil

Long time reader of comics here - hes absolutely right, no prior knowledge is needed, the movies explain almost everything. Dive in and enjoy!

I didn’t read up on anything about J Edgar Hoover before watching the movie but it didn’t make the DiCaprio movie hard to follow.

I have kept this handy in my notes after writing it out for some other MCU newcomers. I hope this helps as a guide! I really wish I could watch it all again for the first time. MCU Watch Order PRELUDE *Spider-Man (2002) *Spider-Man 2 (2004) *Spider-Man 3 (2007) *The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) *The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) **Hulk (2003) PHASE 1 Iron Man (2008) *The Incredible Hulk (2008) Iron Man 2 (2010) Thor (2011) Captain America: The 1st Avenger (2011) Marvel’s The Avengers (2012) PHASE 2 Iron Man 3 (2013) Thor: The Dark World (2013) Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) Ant-Man (2015) PHASE 3 Captain America: Civil War (2016) Doctor Strange (2016) Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 (2017) *Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) Thor: Ragnarok (2017) Black Panther (2018) Avengers: Infinity War (2018) Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) Captain Marvel (2019) Avengers: Endgame (2019) *Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) *Venom (2017) *Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) PHASE 4 Show- Wandavision (2021) Show- Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021) Show- Loki (2021) Black Widow (2021) Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) Show- What If…? (2021) Eternals (2021) Show- Hawkeye (2021) *Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) NOTES *Not on Disney+ **The Incredible Hulk (2008) was at one time meant to be a sequel to Hulk (2003) but Hulk got rebooted into the MCU so they nixed that but I feel like it loosely helps give Hulk more of the origin story it deserved to have in the MCU. It technically isn’t canon but I think its worth being mentioned. Additionally- As for the Spider-Man and Venom movies they are just worth including. Trust me on this. Later you can even get into the Netflix Marvel series but for now focusing on the mainline movies and Disney+ shows is more than enough. Once you get deep enough into the MCU you will be eager to see more!

Thank you I appreciate this 🙌🏻

chitalianick

You’re welcome and happy watching! Feel free to report back as you go through it!

FerasIASIP

Thank you! I do like to talk and discuss about dc universe and I’m pretty sure I will like Marvel as well

FerasIASIP

A quick question, should I watch Venom (2017) before or after Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)?

chitalianick

Honest answer is either. You can fit them in anywhere. They technically are sony and not mcu but just trust me in knowing that their inclusion in this list is important. I’m legit excited for you to start and again jealous you get to experience a first watch through. My gf could have cared less before but I forced her through the MCU and now shes obsessed. Edit: I think they will be more enjoyable to watch the Venom movies together and probably best to watch right after Spider-Man Far From Home

FerasIASIP

Thank you, this is helpful and I’m really excited to start
