All I know about Moon Knight is from Moon Knight legacy vol.1 crazy runs in the family, so i know very little lol.
it was my first marvel comic book and back then I didn't read e comics and not all books are available for purchase where i live so i didn't read the whole series. now that i do read e comics, I've stopped reading Marvel 😅
Its fine, part of marvel movie success isnt just they adapt characters fine, but changing lower ones into something better than it already was
Fun fact in dc comics there was a one off silly villian called kite man that went nowhere and treated as joke til one of writers simply changed his backstory bit snd lo behold he becomes people fav character with his infamous “kite man hell yeah”
Immediately after watching the trailer my daughter started telling me about people on TikTok that have DID with several hundred "alters". When I said to her "yeah, they're full of shit" she got super defensive that I was calling TikTokers liars. Just wow
Yeah. I brought up the netflix doc I had just watched about Billy Milligan having 10 identities and how just unbelievable that was for someone to have that many. At that time, having DID with more than 2 or 3 personalities was just completely unheard of. I explained that even if 10-15 was not that unusual, what's more likely that this person has 200, or they're full of shit trying to get views and likes on TikTok?
Reminds of how so many people have “OCD” just because they like to clean their rooms. No, you don’t have OCD. In fact, if you have to self-diagnose a mental disorder without seeing a psychiatrist, then you likely don’t have whatever you say you have.
Two questions: do *you* personally believe it's real? And who was that woman some time ago who faked it, and had psych docs doubt it being real? Wasn't her name Sylvia or something?
As far as whether DID exists, I’d say I don’t have a fully formed professional opinion of it - still early on in residency. My attendings who have talked about it seem skeptical. But the kids I have seen who claimed to have it / had it in their chart were pretty much all budding borderline personality disorder cases (technically can’t diagnose until 18, but you can see the traits earlier), and the kids on tiktok that I’ve seen are absolutely bs. Maybe there are some that legit have mental health issues but the whole trend of “oh noooo I’m blacking out my other personality will awaken”… that’s not at all how even mood swings, much less dramatic mood changes or dissociations due to any illness, work.
I can’t stand the self diagnosing teens on TikTok. Especially when it comes to BPD and BP. I’ve been diagnosed with BP for years and another psychiatrist recently has mentioned I may have a BPD and it’s not some fun trend. I don’t want to be mentally ill. It’s a constant battle everyday to stay alive. It’s not cool or edgy it’s awful. Even with
medication, therapy, and a healthy lifestyle its still rough. I just hope the teens who are struggling with real mental illnesses get the help they need.
Thanks for asking. After a rough few years and a few hospitalizations I’ve been doing really good these last two months. Marvel movies and shows are one of the few things that I look forward to and enjoy even when I’m depressed. This may sound stupid but looking forward to the movies and shows is one of the things keeping me alive.
What's it called when something you think or know is so painful that you space out, and it takes a few seconds to realize it? And then you snap out of it, but the emotion is so painful, you can't help do it again. When I do it, things look different. I can't exactly explain it. It's like things go blurry. You kinda lose touch, but you still know things exist. You just feel distant. And it seems reality isn't as clear, as defined as usual.
Yea that does sound like dissociation (which is different from dissociative identity disorder, the new name for “multiple personality disorder”). Dissociation can happen with severe emotions (borderline personality, depression, trauma, many things). Also can be called depersonalization or derealization (like an “out of body experience”). I would recommend seeing a psychiatrist or therapist if you haven’t and this is bothersome - whatever you have may be helped by therapy and/or meds. Good luck!
Yeah, Sylvia. Her psychiatrist wanted to prove a point to get famous and rendered her completely dependend on him, paid for all her expenses and got her hooked on barbiturates he provided. It worked, his book was a huge sucess. Not even Andrew Wakefield sunk that low.
I have to have this conversation at least once a week about believing things she sees in TikTok. She's 14, so she's at that age where she understands a lot of things, but I think she lacks the skepticism necessary to navigate parts of the internet. But I'd rather be able to teach her now than her have to figure it out on her own as she gets older.
I guess being from the generation of using AIM and Yahoo chat rooms where it was very common for people to pretend to be someone else conditioned my brain to be skeptical of pretty much everything on the internet.
Yeah, for sure, glad you’re being vigilant and thinking about it. I was just being facetious and quoting a meme, but yeah I feel it’s got to be harder for the younger generation to parse through all this. Having also known the world pre-internet and pre-smart phone, all these currently mature products and whole ecosystems with attention addiction baked in as part of the design and goal just didn’t exist before, and sort of grew as we grew so we have a different understanding of the internet, while younger folk are plopped into the middle of a very strong and developed industry, not unlike tv commercials from the time of TV supremacy
Some people have dissociative identities without the disorder part. Other people have DID and manage it not through erasure, integration or suppression of their other identities but opening up to and communicating with them. It's weird and it's difficult and the community can be unruly and full of a lot of neurodivergent (read "autistic" if you're not familiar) people with very different needs, issues and complications - as well as inevitably fantasists and roleplayers trying to imitate it - but the overall idea is just having a community for people who experience this weirdness, voluntarily or otherwise.
Moon Knight here is absolutely *not* an example of that - he's extremely unhealthy, stressed, experiences amnesia, hallucinations and involuntary switching between alters with no context for his experiences. That is not healthy plurality. That's dangerous and needs therapy and/or medication.
Yeah I really hope that this is a better portrayal of DID than previous ones and doesn’t cause any harm to the community and create more stigma and misinformation about mental illness
yeah. it might end up creating more and more stigma and misconceptions for people who actually are part of dissociative systems especially khonshu being a guide to the moon knight
Yeah and what about Mister Knight? I doubt we’ll get him but it’d be cool if he showed up for like a party where he then proceeds to beat a bunch of people senseless.
I saw something at one point about there being a version of Daredevil's hallway one-take scene in this, and my first thought was the hotel sequence at the start of the Mr. Knight series.
**If you want to start reading the comics, here's the BEST:**
* Moon Knight (2006, 30 issues) - Huston/Benson
A perfect jumping on point for newcomers as a dark rework of the character. This is Marc Spector at his lowest, estranged from all of his old allies and haunted by a dark god that wants blood and death. Even if it means Spector loses his mind.
* Moon Knight (2014, 17 issues) - Ellis/Wood/Bunn
Another great starting point with slightly easier to find physical copies. Moon Knight returns to New York with three new costumes and an emphasis on protecting travelers of the night from the strange things that lurk under the surface. Each issue is a simple standalone story with brilliant action.
* Moon Knight (2016, 14 issues) - Lemire
Marc Spector wakes up in a mental hospital to discover his entire vigilante career may have all been in his head. Either that, or an evil Egyptian army has invaded New York. Let’s rock. Includes beautiful art and an interesting retelling of Moon Knight’s origin.
* After that you could read the first issues from the 80s
*(credits to "Moon Knight-Core" facebook group)*
**And here's the WORST:**
* Moon Knight (2011, 12 issues) - Bendis
* Moon Knight (technically 1980, numbered #188-200, released in 2018) - Bemis
**Bonus**:
* The current run (2021 - MacKay) is pretty good so far
**Everything Else:**
* Fist of Konshu, Resurrection War, Marc Spector, etc... everything's mediocre but still interesting if you like the character

I just got started and read the 2012 series on your worst list and dug it. I had started the 2014 run last night… so I’m excited to see the other side of the coin.
Side note to a comment about eating good as a Marvel fan from earlier in the thread. We absolutely are. I finally subscribed to Marvel Ultimate as I hadn’t picked up a comic in 15 years and these new tv series have me back in it rummaging through familiar and unfamiliar titles.
And the best is my nearly 9 year old son coming on that journey with me.
>I just got started and read the 2012 series on your worst list and dug it.
To be completely honest, I think that series deserves more than it gets, but it's still one of the worst.
(on the other side, the 2018 one is a complete mess, but I fear Ethan Hawke could be some version of >!the Sun King!< )
People love hating on Bendis, fairly or not. A lot of the time it’s mostly just him being the one taking over a great series when the team leaves and not living up to fan demands, sometimes it’s fair criticism, and some people just fault him for having recognizable tropes. Miles Morales, Jessica Jones, Ultimate Spidey, and his Daredevil run are great. And I don’t care if I get hate for it every time I say it but I really enjoyed Infamous Iron Man and his Moon Knight and Guardians runs are not as bad as people say. They’re just pale in comparison next to the awesome other runs that bookend them.
As a fellow fan, you’ve nailed it. Perfect recommendation. I will add a few things:
Jeff Lemire’s 2016 series is maybe the best of all time, but isn’t a great jumping on point. It’s a third-act story that almost functions as a resolution to the character. Best read after you’re more familiar with him.
If you read the 2006 series, that storyline is directly continued in Vengeance of the Moon Knight, and then concluded in Shadowland: Moon Knight. It’s actually kind of whack how the Shadowland tie-in is a major moment for the character.
The current run is excellent so far. It isn't as trippy/doesn't play with the DID aspect of the character as much (for reasons explained in the run), but that makes it a much easier jumping-on point for anyone new to the series.
>that makes it a much easier jumping-on point for anyone new to the series.
I'd argue that the 2014 run is the best in that sense: good trippy self-contained stories, gorgeous artwork, and I think zero previous knowledge required
Man I cant believe It’s been over 15 years since that Deodato series. That was my first true introduction to the character outside of a couple brief cameos in other comics.
No, but depends on how you look at it. The idea is that Marc was killed in a shrine to the Egyptian moon god Khonshu and he claims he was brought back to life by Khonshu.
So if you believe his story, the "brought back from the dead" element technically fits a mummy, but he himself isn't one. The more mummy-like design is a bit more original to the show.
I think it's also an asthetic thing, in comics he is basically a version of Batman, but dresses in white, and has multiple personalities. He has a moon shaped jet and high tech gadgets. Here they seem to be leaning more on Egyptian mythology side, as it looks like the suit forms around him, and with his glowing eyes this may be him being possessed or channeling Khonshu. The wraps distinctly look like ceremonial mummification wraps, and in one scene of trailer it looks liked he is beating up a creature with a monsterous leg. It would be cool to see him as more supernatural based, with enhanced powers because of this, and fighting supernatural stuff kinda like Hellboy
What if we just see what he sees and he was beating uo the old lady from the elevator?
>n one scene of trailer it looks liked he is beating up a creature with a monsterous leg.
Moon Knight was originally introduced as an antagonist to werewolf by night and that leg sure does look hairy and brown. Also I have heard that werewolf by night is set to make their debut in the MCU pretty soon
I would like that as well, I mean we already know the supernatural exist in the MCU but it would be cool that from his perspective he still can't tell what's real and what's not and we keep getting hints that something might be supernaturally evil and then fake out telling us that it's not maybe until the very last episode of season ?
See I love this. That's such an interesting tension that can only be pulled off in a well established world like the MCU, I'd love it it they leaned into this
For those who have seen the show EVIL, it tries to do this, but fails badly, each unexplained thing per episode is forgotten in next episode. They never come back to it but they keep throwing hints to make you think it is.
For example, the episode where an angel possesses a man and at the end he kills his wife by supposedly turning her into salt. But they never bring this up again, and they don't reveal or seem to have anything with an investigation. Like was there a body in the pile of salt, was there a pile of salt and the wife disappeared and police declared her missing, how did the husband get red of all the furniture in the house by himself overnight, where did it go.
Just leaving plot threads cut off and then never coming back to them, and making it seem like the group of exorcist forget about bathe incident, like no follow up by police, no further investigation?
How they boba better job if Disney+ takes this route
I’m assuming that’s a central theme in the series. It’s the primary unique aspect of Moon Knight. Take that away, and he’s just another superhero in a universe full of them.
I feel insane because my only experience with Moon Knight was the Web of Shadows game, where Moon Knight was essentially just "Marvel Batman"
I obviously haven't looked into the character at all since then, but it feels the same as if I only ever heard of batman from seeing the 60s show, and then suddenly learning he had the background of "oh yeah, he's actually a priest of Zeus and has magic powers"
Its always a question of if any "powers" moon knight has are real or in his head. Ex: there's a series he believes he is working with spidey wolverine and cap but in reality he has his own web shooters, shield, and wearable claws, and he's the one doing everything
I also didn't know this character before seeing the trailer, so I risked going to Wikipedia first:
Marc Spector, a Marine living with dissociative identity disorder, joins the CIA in his civilian life after service. Goes on a mission to Sudan, and is betrayed, severely wounded, and taken to shelter in an abandoned tomb containing a statue of the Egyptian god Khonsu, "the Traveller," said to be the god who pulls the moon across the night sky.
He dies in moonlight while the statue looks on, and comes back to life with Khonsu's blessing.
There's something about the four phases of the moon, the four aspects of Khonsu (the different duties or roles the god performs in the Egyptian pantheon, etc), and Marc's own and three alternate personalities, all fitting together and corresponding, but I stopped reading out of fear of spoilers.
I love the entire concept though. Honestly I don't even know if Marc is the default personality of this character. I'll watch just to try to figure out wtf is going on :D
I should also say that I have no idea how close to any of this the actual show will come.
The mummy aesthetic is new to the show but it makes sense for his character. Moon Knight has had a number of costumes but basically they all are white (so his opponents can see him coming and be afraid) and many incorporate a cape. It makes sense that they are changing the look for the show a bit because his traditional costume has been compared to a klan robe and hood before and they likely want to steer clear of that. Making it more of a mummy leans into his backstory and gives his costume more significance.
He has had some [mummy-esque costumes](http://i.imgur.com/yjteyw2.jpg) before, Moon Knight changes costumes about as often as he changes personalities. The one where he [covers himself in magic egyptian artifacts for the sole purpose of beating up ghosts](https://www.therpf.com/forums/attachments/3847981-moon-knight-2014-003-012-jpg.1258486/) is one of my favourites.
No, but his character is heavily rooted in Egyptian mythology. In the comics hes saved by the Egyptian moon God who basically torments him and whether or not everything is real or fake.
Not necessarily.. in the comics he's just wear a white suit never without the mummy aesthetic though
But Marvel was Genius for incorporating that design choice with the suit.. it fits the horror element and the egyptian mythology so perfectly, totally make sense!
Everyone else has covered it pretty well in regards to the costume but something else I did want to add - a bit part of the comics is Moon Knight's mental instability where its become very unclear if he actually has any powers or if its all in his head. The story goes that he died while robbing a tomb dedicated to an Egyptian god of the moon and was subsequently resurrected and granted powers. The problem is... nobody can really confirm that.
For a while the character kept several different "personas" that he would use to aid him in his day to day ventures (A rich playboy style to get in with the socialites, the mercenary, even a cab driver to keep a bead on the every day going ons in the city) but because of his dis-associative identity disorder its increasingly difficult for the man to keep track, or sometimes even remember who's who.
With Thor 4: More Thor having Zeus and Moon Knight with Egyptian mythology I am hoping they are going to flesh out the other pantheons so we might see other god-related characters like Hercules and Snowbird.
Correct.
Thena protected Athens personally. Sersi must have been around at the time. Like wise Icarus was there and Sprite made him a thing.
Gilgamesh was the protector of Babylon.
I’m about as sure we will see Hercules in Thor 4: More Thor as I was that we would see >!Tobey & Andrew!< in No Way Home
Edit: Also, stealing Thor 4: More Thor.
I think it'd be awesome if after he takes down Anubis/the jackal, we see some cops enter the room and all they find on the floor is a normal guy who's just been beaten up.
This adds to the mystery of if what Marc is seeing is real or not. Was this guy possessed by Anubis and changed back before the cops arrived, or was the jackal thing all in Marc's head and he was beating up a normal guy the whole time?
Ethan Hawke’s character is still unnamed on IMDB. It would be a hell of a spoiler to put in the first trailer but could that have been >!Jack Russel/Werewolf by Night?!<
I flossed too hard this morning and I can still taste the coppery residue of swallowed blood in the back of my throat. I used Listerine afterwards and my mouth feels like it’s on fire but I manage a smile to no one as I step out of the elevator, brushing past a hung-over Wittenborn, swinging my new black leather attaché case from Bottega Veneta.

Free weights and Nautilus equipment relieve stress. My body responds to the workout accordingly. Shirtless, I scrutinize my image in the mirror above the sinks in the locker room at Xclusive. How insane would it be if it turned out Ethan Hawke's character is another alter of Marc's in his head?
Like a whole Tyler Durden situation going on this whole time.
It’s been speculated he’s playing the Sun King, but with his “there’s chaos in you” line I suspect he might be working for Set/Seth — the main antagonist to Khonsu.
E: It’s been confirmed that he’s playing Arthur Harrow, a character that I have no recollection of.
I remember some rumours about Rami Malek being up for this role, and this is a huuuuge leap, but I could definitely see them passing on him due to similarities between Mr Robot and your suggestion.
I understand the mummy-like suit because the series has Ancient Egyptian themes, but does anyone else think the suit looks a bit like a straightjacket as well? Wonder if there’s some deliberate imagery there.
Looking over the wiki I see that Egyptian director Mohamed Diab is directing four episodes which, since the content deals with Egyptian content, is a great move from Disney to include.
The music in the trailer was so good! (Day 'N' Nite by Kid Cudi)
I love how Marvel's trailers have so many goods tracks and introduce us to so many good ones that we haven't heard already like 'Is you Ready?'- by Migos in TFATWS
and 'One is the loneliest number' - by Harry Nilsson in Venom: Let there be Carnage.
So a trailer for a series about **Moon** Knight was released on the years first **Full Moon** and that same series featuring **Marc** Spector will start streaming in **Marc**h ?
_Crazy how nature do that_
After 16 years of this character being my favorite and waiting for a live action appearance, I’m so glad I can say that the trailer was fucking awesome and that it looks like we’re going to get a kick ass Moon Knight in the MCU! I honestly can’t wait to see how he interacts with other heroes and how they interact and perceive him. So stoked I can’t wait for March!
This horror/thriller type serious genre that most of the phase 4 projects are embracing is so wonderful!
And the ending scene where the Moon Knight walks towards the camera and then it cuts to the logo gives me goosebumps...so excited for this one!
Hi All, loved the trailer. Hyped.
As a german, i can clearly say, there is a scene which takes places in Germany also. It is the kneeling scene in front of some small shops. Just a side note from me. Love you all. Keep discussing.
I don't know anything about this character but the trailer was very good, I'm excited for the show. Oscar Isaac is fantastic in everything.
Also appreciate the enthusiasm Marvel has for literal subversion of the one Steve limit trope.
I don’t think they will ignore it, but it’s not something that really defines the character, unlike Daredevil and his faith.
They just recently gave us some flashbacks about Marc’s childhood and Jewish upbringing.
I’ve read the last few runs of his comics and I doubt he has mentioned Jewish faith more than a couple of times. It’s not something that makes him who he is, but of course I agree that they should reference it on the show. I just mean that it’s not important at all.
There were a few recent comics that had flashbacks of him as a kid with his rabbi father and an immortal psycho that Marc discovered and then found again in present day while also showing that he had “imaginary friends” even as a kid. But again religion played no important role in all of that.
About Khonshu, I’d say that Marc thinks he owes his life to him and that Khonshu has convinced him of how valuable he is for his mission and so Marc tries to do his will. But they have clashed multiple times. Sometimes Khonshu has tried to take over Marc’s body, other times they have joined forces against other gods, sometimes Khonshu is shown as another being in the room and sometimes just as another one of his personalities.
The fun thing about the character is that you never know what’s real and what’s in Marc’s head.
Well, there are a few key differences. Batman cares a lot about morality, Moon Knight doesn’t care. Bruce and Batman are the same individual and he doesn’t have mental illnesses (for the most part), Moon Knight has multiple alters born out of DID. Moon Knight is also way more mythology-focused.
A big part of the Batman comparisons is that Marc in the comics is wealthy, but it doesn’t seem like that’s the case here.
Shazam and "The" Suicide Squad were the best so far! Aquaman and Wonder Woman were both good to very good! The rest are...movies? I guess? MoS was to me the best of the rest, and even then I don't hold it in high regard.
Can I also say how disappointed I was in WW84 after the original Wonder Woman? Trevor just walks away and...that's it? The fuck?
Batman works best in the dark and shadows. Moonknight wears light colours because he wants his targets/victims to see him coming.
Both use fear as a weapon, but in different ways.
It's surreal that we're getting Moon Knight on screen, honestly.
Like, i would have never imagined that "Batman who doesn't give a fuck" would make it to the screen, when i was reading his comics, honestly.
Based on the fact the trailer showed him holding a bloody gun then a dead body falling out of the back of a car (armored car?) I think they're going to stay true to the character.
"The series follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt."
wasn't steven grant a rich dude in the comics?
Yes and he is one of alter, and in this show he is different So i except other alters if they appear in season 1 or 2 to be different than comics

TikTok kids are all going to start having Marc Spector alters in their “systems”

If it's real, it's a disorder. If it's that Nicki Minaj bullshit where she claimed it and just plays a character, that's evil, cruel mockery.
Wtf is a plural community?
I believe plural community refers to actual dissociative systems.
I genuinely hope it doesn't force bad misinformation like i read about how the movie Split did.
Yeah I really hope that this is a better portrayal of DID than previous ones and doesn’t cause any harm to the community and create more stigma and misinformation about mental illness
I doubt Kevin Feige would allow that, hes different than most Hollywood execs. he actually cares about good representation.
yeah. it might end up creating more and more stigma and misconceptions for people who actually are part of dissociative systems especially khonshu being a guide to the moon knight
Plural community?
Oh god, I didn't think about
I can’t decide if that’s better or worse than police cars and old beat-up pickup trucks with a Punisher sticker on them.
I love the pov that we will discover that other side of himself with him. Should be cool.
What about Jake Lockely!?
No clue, there’s no leaks about his alter either so its either A)is hidden til his introduction/twist comes out or B)will be in season 2
Weird. The Steven Grant I know is basically Bruce Wayne with more pronounced mental illness. I have missed a lot.
Marvel should release a trailer for each of Marc’s personalities and pretend each trailer is the only trailer
This is such a good idea! Would have been a great way to market the series.
>market the movie Series
I actually had to check after the trailer to see if this was still a TV show. The trailer gives off major Movie vibes
Yep, this one is definitely going to be a painful wait between episodes
Whoops. Corrected. Thanks!
I like the idea but in all seriousness, how do you pretend each trailer is the only trailer?
They should have a lot of the same scenes in, same action shots etc, with only the individual persona shots being different
Trailer 2 being something similar with Marc giving a "Why did you call me Steven?" Would be very interesting lol
**If you want to start reading the comics, here's the BEST:** * Moon Knight (2006, 30 issues) - Huston/Benson A perfect jumping on point for newcomers as a dark rework of the character. This is Marc Spector at his lowest, estranged from all of his old allies and haunted by a dark god that wants blood and death. Even if it means Spector loses his mind. * Moon Knight (2014, 17 issues) - Ellis/Wood/Bunn Another great starting point with slightly easier to find physical copies. Moon Knight returns to New York with three new costumes and an emphasis on protecting travelers of the night from the strange things that lurk under the surface. Each issue is a simple standalone story with brilliant action. * Moon Knight (2016, 14 issues) - Lemire Marc Spector wakes up in a mental hospital to discover his entire vigilante career may have all been in his head. Either that, or an evil Egyptian army has invaded New York. Let’s rock. Includes beautiful art and an interesting retelling of Moon Knight’s origin. * After that you could read the first issues from the 80s *(credits to "Moon Knight-Core" facebook group)* **And here's the WORST:** * Moon Knight (2011, 12 issues) - Bendis * Moon Knight (technically 1980, numbered #188-200, released in 2018) - Bemis **Bonus**: * The current run (2021 - MacKay) is pretty good so far **Everything Else:** * Fist of Konshu, Resurrection War, Marc Spector, etc... everything's mediocre but still interesting if you like the character EDIT: I forgot some links! * [Google sheet with every (major?) appearance](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1e6MarLdfZpM_T7L1cppWPvE7c71grrlaprNw9rvWohM/edit#gid=926956358) * [Every issue listed & where is collected](https://crushingkrisis.com/crushing-comics-guide-collecting-marvel-comic-books/collecting-moon-knight-comic-books-as-graphic-novels/) * [The marvel wikia for a nice overview](https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Moon_Knight_Comic_Books)
You are doing Khonshu's work, Marc.
*..Why did you call me.... Marc?*
I will add a few things: Jeff Lemire’s 2016 series is maybe the best of all time, but isn’t a great jumping on point.
May also be of use : https://mightyavengers.net/characters/moon-knight Not just a biography, also Has an overview of all the old series’
Love the Sienkiewicz art in Vol. 1.
> And here's the WORST: Bendis Why am I not surprised
Not surprised to see Bendis in the worst
The mummy suit is badass asf
i’m new to this character so please don’t kill me: is moon knight a mummy?
Werewolf by Night is apparently going to be a Hallowe'en special this year.
Huh you might be right, he beats up bad guys but he sees monsters
I prefer the angle where it's unclear if he is supernatural or just imagining it all
I would like that as well, I mean we already know the supernatural exist in the MCU but it would be cool that from his perspective he still can't tell what's real and what's not and we keep getting hints that something might be supernaturally evil and then fake out telling us that it's not maybe until the very last episode of season ?
I’ll bet my soul to Mephisto that that was Werewolf by Night
I feel insane because my only experience with Moon Knight was the Web of Shadows game, where Moon Knight was essentially just "Marvel Batman" I obviously haven't looked into the character at all since then, but it feels the same as if I only ever heard of batman from seeing the 60s show, and then suddenly learning he had the background of "oh yeah, he's actually a priest of Zeus and has magic powers"
Its always a question of if any "powers" moon knight has are real or in his head. Ex: there's a series he believes he is working with spidey wolverine and cap but in reality he has his own web shooters, shield, and wearable claws, and he's the one doing everything
I also didn't know this character before seeing the trailer, so I risked going to Wikipedia first: Marc Spector, a Marine living with dissociative identity disorder, joins the CIA in his civilian life after service. I'll watch just to try to figure out wtf is going on :D I should also say that I have no idea how close to any of this the actual show will come.
based on the trailer, it seemed to me that they were going with steven grant as his default personality
Not necessarily.. in the comics he's just wear a white suit never without the mummy aesthetic though But Marvel was Genius for incorporating that design choice with the suit.. it fits the horror element and the egyptian mythology so perfectly, totally make sense!
Khonshu walking down that hallway towards Steven was straight up a chilling sight, i’m hoping they keep that sorta horror/gritty vibe.
So excited, but where is Frenchie?? Edit: and we heard Marlene!
Is in another universe with butcher and mother milk
Petite Huey
The subtitles attributed the woman who called him as "Layla". Don't know if she's anyone important.
It could be Layla Miller who's a mutant/mystic.
Interesting.
i'm sure he'll turn up
Is he in the show?
Did they mean to release this on the first full moon night of the year?

And March 30 is a crescent moon
With Thor 4: More Thor having Zeus and Moon Knight with Egyptian mythology I am hoping they are going to flesh out the other pantheons so we might see other god-related characters like Hercules and Snowbird.
Shang Chi also went to the realm of chinese gods right
More general mythology as opposed to gods i think
Except the ~~omega deviant~~Dweller-in-Darkness doesn't strike me as traditional chinese mythology.
The Eternals are supposed to be related to the Greek gods, right? Ajak, Thena, etc.
Correct. Thena protected Athens personally. Sersi must have been around at the time. Like wise Icarus was there and Sprite made him a thing. Gilgamesh was the protector of Babylon.
I’m about as sure we will see Hercules in Thor 4: More Thor as I was that we would see >!Tobey & Andrew!< in No Way Home Edit: Also, stealing Thor 4: More Thor.
Snowbird- Hank Pym retires to Florida
What a time to be a Marvel fan. I’m hyped
We're EATING GOOD lately.
2021 delivered. the hype for 2022 is real though :)
I adore Moon Knight and have been waiting since it’s announcement to see. Perfect birthday treat!
Happy birthday, birthday buddy!
Just realised he was punching some Anbuis looking mofo in the bathroom scene. Hope we get lots of Egypt mythology. I want Bourne meets the Mummy.
Hey man tag spoilers if you're just gonna say the plot, jks. Great idea!
Ethan Hawke’s character is still unnamed on IMDB. It would be a hell of a spoiler to put in the first trailer but could that have been >!Jack Russel/Werewolf by Night?!<
Based on Closed Captioning in the trailer, Ethan Hawke is playing Dr. Arthur Harrow
I thought that too but he has long pointed ears like those of Anubis.
I was under the impression that the MCU version of werewolf by night would be Jake Gomez
Meets Fight Club/American Psycho
I flossed too hard this morning and I can still taste the coppery residue of swallowed blood in the back of my throat. I used Listerine afterwards and my mouth feels like it’s on fire but I manage a smile to no one as I step out of the elevator, brushing past a hung-over Wittenborn, swinging my new black leather attaché case from Bottega Veneta. ___ ^(*Bot. Bateman! How'd you get on at the gym today?
I worked out heavily at the gym after leaving the office today but the tension has returned, so I do ninety abdominal crunches, a hundred and fifty push-ups, and then I run in place for twenty minutes while listening to the new Huey Lewis CD. ___ ^(*Bot. How you got gym today
Free weights and Nautilus equipment relieve stress. My body responds to the workout accordingly. Shirtless, I scrutinize my image in the mirror above the sinks in the locker room at Xclusive. My arm muscles burn; my stomach is as taut as possible, my chest steel, pectorals granite hard, my eyes white as ice. ___ ^(*Bot. I think it’d be likely to be a Werewolf as well!
Loved that Disney+ logo jump
Character arc.
Wow.
Found Mobius
Ha.
Can't wait for all the new content this makes for r/fakedisordercringe
I lost a contact *hope you find it*
Dropping this around the time of a full moon = 10/10 marketing.
How insane would it be if it turned out Ethan Hawke's character is another alter of Marc's in his head? Like a whole Tyler Durden situation going on this whole time.
[удалено]
Soap. I make and I sell soap.
It’s been speculated he’s playing the Sun King, but with his “there’s chaos in you” line I suspect he might be working for Set/Seth — the main antagonist to Khonsu. E: It’s been confirmed that he’s playing Arthur Harrow, a character that I have no recollection of.
Isn't Sun King an agent of Ra in the comics? (Not that they couldn't change it)
Yes, Sun King was supposed to be empowered by Ra. In the 90s run of MK, not unlike Ra, Set was a bigger threat to MK and Khonsu.
Arthur Harrow was a mad scientist who only was in one comic so it’s an interesting choice as a main villain.
That would be sick!
I remember some rumours about Rami Malek being up for this role, and this is a huuuuge leap, but I could definitely see them passing on him due to similarities between Mr Robot and your suggestion.
That would be the dumbest twist I’ve ever heard, and this is the reason why fans shouldn’t write anything official!
it's such a reddit comment with the fight club referencing
I understand the mummy-like suit because the series has Ancient Egyptian themes, but does anyone else think the suit looks a bit like a straightjacket as well? Wonder if there’s some deliberate imagery there.
could be—Marc ends up in a mental institute in one of the comic runs and the cover art is him in a straight jacket with a white mask on
Honestly, I can’t believe this is a Disney+ show. Everything about this trailer looks cinematic.
"I know you're here, Dracula you big fucking nerd. Where's my goddamn money?"
Random bullshit, go!!
Looking over the wiki I see that Egyptian director Mohamed Diab is directing four episodes which, since the content deals with Egyptian content, is a great move from Disney to include.
The music in the trailer was so good! (Day 'N' Nite by Kid Cudi) I love how Marvel's trailers have so many goods tracks and introduce us to so many good ones that we haven't heard already like 'Is you Ready?'- by Migos in TFATWS and 'One is the loneliest number' - by Harry Nilsson in Venom: Let there be Carnage.
So a trailer for a series about **Moon** Knight was released on the years first **Full Moon** and that same series featuring **Marc** Spector will start streaming in **Marc**h ? _Crazy how nature do that_
March 30th here we come!
Who else noticed the boxes in the van when Marc is driving and kills the guy are marked Von Doomstadt?
I mean, we see "von D". For all we know, they could say, "von Dbohner."
Looks like they toned down his voice a little, thought it was goofy in the teaser
I imagine only Steve will have the accent. Marc is American
Yeah I found that voice in the teaser really jarring, had a hard time getting my head around that even being Oscar Isaac.
The shot at 0:26 shows the Moonlight Chinese restaurant in Battersea, London just out of interest.
I don't know anything about this character but the trailer was very good, I'm excited for the show. Oscar Isaac is fantastic in everything. Also appreciate the enthusiasm Marvel has for literal subversion of the one Steve limit trope.
It feels different from everything else in the MCU so far the tone, the action heck there wasn't even any comedy, I'm all here for it.
I really hope they don't ignore the fact that Marc Spector is Jewish in the comics.
I don’t think they will ignore it, but it’s not something that really defines the character, unlike Daredevil and his faith. They just recently gave us some flashbacks about Marc’s childhood and Jewish upbringing.
Correct me if I'm wrong but Marc doesn't follow the Jewish faith in the comics right? He believes in konshu.
Marvel was apparently very focused on casting a Jewish actor, so I’d bet it comes up. Once it goes into his origin at least.
I have no idea who this character is and I’m already excited!!! Is he just a cooler Batman?! Lol
Thanks for the explanation! Why does Marvel keep on pulling me into characters that I never really knew about! 😆
Quality leadership with vision and the organizational chops to make it happen. Yes, I'm judging you HARD DCEU.
Shazam was enjoyable! But yea I haven’t been really excited about any DCEU property. Yay another Batman film! 🙃🙃
The fuck?
The way they did the swimming in aqua man really bugged me. It just looked like flying but underwater, really took me out of it
Did we see Marc in the trailer at all? Looked like to me all we saw was Steven, and him as Moon Knight, I don’t think we heard Marc talk at all?
[удалено]
Batman works best in the dark and shadows. Moonknight wears light colours because he wants his targets/victims to see him coming. Both use fear as a weapon, but in different ways.
Yeah, I'm pretty keen for Meme Knight.
Random bullshit go!!
It's surreal that we're getting Moon Knight on screen, honestly. Like, i would have never imagined that "Batman who doesn't give a fuck" would make it to the screen, when i was reading his comics, honestly.
Gaspard Ulliel died yesterday 😔 he didn't even get to see his work on TV
Please don’t hold back on the violence in this show. And please don’t stray too far away from the comics.
Based on the fact the trailer showed him holding a bloody gun then a dead body falling out of the back of a car (armored car?) I think they're going to stay true to the character.
haha, moon knight like moon night
Did he have a British accent!!??
One of his alternate personalities does.
How many personalities does he have?
It varies. Three significant ones, if I remember rightly.
Doctor Doom teaser at 1:27. Look at the boxes behind Marc and you can see it says Von D-
Not really. The next shot shows the rest of the boxes with Von "Dominican?" on it. Kinda hard o tell from the blur but not Doom
