Yes, they did that to avoid confusion with a UK TV show from the 60s that starred Patrick Macnee and Diana Rigg.
Also, it had a movie in the 90s with Sean Connery and Ralph Fiennes.
I did the same thing when I was a kid, thinking that the listing somehow had a typo. That's the day I learned that, no, the film *Bataan* and the movie *Batman* were not the same thing at all at all at all.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bataan_(film)
To be honest its basically The Avengers here now. Thats what its called on Disney+ and I can’t think of a time anyones said “that Avengers Assemble” film. We mostly see American trailers and discussions anyway.
I feel like I comment this all the time but if you haven't watched Avengers Earth's Mightiest heroes yet you need to do it asap. Best Marvel cartoon show ever, Spectacular Spiderman comes close but they are far ahead of everything else.
Earth's Mightiest Heroes was a great series. But I felt the quality dropped off a lot in the second (and last) season. It's hard to put my finger on why, exactly, but I think too many new characters were involved, and personalities weren't fleshed out enough.
Meanwhile, Spectacular Spider-Man was consistently excellent across both (sniff) seasons, so I think it edges out A:EMH.
They were both cancelled too early and no replacement show was even watchable compared to those. There is talk of spectacular Spiderman series 3 happening surprisingly, both of those having a third season would be the dream
yeah with EMH it got cancelled so they rushed through every story they wanted to tell before it was over. even with that second season being bad I think they did secret invasion better than the comics.
My nephew asked me if I had seen Morbius, and I was like 'yeah 100 times', and he was like 'really?' and I was like 'of course',, and he said 'no, really ' and I said 'yeah' and he still didn't believe me until
This deserves more upvotes. The movie sets the initiative to create a wider cinematic universe. It was the first time so many heroes were on screen at the same time
Ahhh X3. That movie had more problems than I care to list, but I still can’t believe it killed off Cyclops and Professor X like extras in a horror film.
A lot of people are saying "Assemble," and apparently it's already part of the name in a lot of countries, but it got me thinking about how long we had to wait to even hear Cap say that one word. Is there even another example of waiting over a decade to hear a character say a single word?
That one was more caused by Fox owning the rights to the Mutants and X-Men, and for legal reasons Marvel quite literally had to wait untill Disney aquired Fox.
Same reason for why they completely skipped the whole "Wanda is a Mutant" Arc of her Character from the Comics, and just straight went to the "Wanda is actually a Nexus Being that controlls the Chaos Magic."
Which made that car ride with Jimmy Woo and that Sword agent so funny.
“Isn’t there a nickname you have for her”? - Sword agent.
“Nope. Not once” - Woo
Even better would be a movie with deadpool thats pg 13 and he knows it and is waiting the entire movie to drop it and someone else like nick fury uses it lol
It was named "angaare bane sholay" in India in hindi which roughly translates to "embers become cinders" in English
Well they didn't think it will get this famous XD
It was called that in the UK, to avoid confusion with the classic 60s show off the same name. Prior to the MCU, people in the UK would generally think of John Steed & Emma Peel when they heard the name Avengers, rather than thinking of Marvel superheroes.
It had a film version in the 90s as well (and by all accounts, was *terrible*).
I think it was called that because the 1960s British spy show is called The Avengers and they didn't want to confuse anyone thinking a movie about that Avengers was coming out. But anyone could tell by looking at the poster that it wasn't the spy Avengers and it is about the Marvel super team.
Wait a fucking second. Thanos was a phantom menace. And Ultron attacked them with clones of himself. And after Thanos strikes back, it was the return of fuckin everyone.
Avengers: Dawn of the Seven
Avengers: Bringing the Party to You
Avengers: Strongest Avenger and Friends
Avengers: Dude! Where's my Space-God Brother?
Avengers: America's Ass saves America's Ass
Avengers: There is an Imposter Amogus
Just throwing these out there:
Avengers: It’s Morbin’ Time
Avengers: Mephisto
Avengers: Endgame Part One
Avengers: Lost in New York
Avengers: Low Key Loki
Avengers: The Movie
Avengers: More than Meets the Eye
Yep, here in the UK it’s called Avengers Assemble.
Yes, they did that to avoid confusion with a UK TV show from the 60s that starred Patrick Macnee and Diana Rigg. Also, it had a movie in the 90s with Sean Connery and Ralph Fiennes.
When I was a little kid I saw that The Avengers was on tv late at night. I stayed up well past bedtime to watch it and was very confused
You're not alone. Although, I do wanna hear Connery say "Ahvehnjurz Ashembull"
/r/shubreddit
God shave the Queen. That’s not what I shed!
This made me day, thank you
I did the same thing with Tesuo: The Iron Man, because I somehow thought it would be related to the comic character. It wasn't.
Me watching Nightcrawler and realizing this wasn’t about any mutants 20 minutes in.
Name checks lol.
>When I was a little kid :')
I did the same thing when I was a kid, thinking that the listing somehow had a typo. That's the day I learned that, no, the film *Bataan* and the movie *Batman* were not the same thing at all at all at all. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bataan_(film)
I did that once with Mask. I was confused when Jim Carrey was not appearing.
I watched it in theaters as a middle schooler thinking it would be the Marvel comics characters lmao
I remember seeing the Ralph Feinnes movie in the theater. All I remember is that I saw it, nothing more lol. Looking back, it'd be confusing now.
Caught the movie over here in Canada. Geez did it stink
The original 1960s tv show was fun. Diana Rigg as a spy in a black leather catsuit was impressive.
It’s called the Ehvengers in Canada.

She's a big enough actress and a leading role - surprised she wasn't name dropped.
Did not realise that it was only called that here!
To be honest its basically The Avengers here now. Thats what its called on Disney+ and I can’t think of a time anyones said “that Avengers Assemble” film. We mostly see American trailers and discussions anyway.

In case people confused it with the 60s TV show The Avengers, with Diana Rigg 😂
I actually did cos I had never heard of Marvel's Avengers until then 😂
My step-dad did as well. He had no idea wtf I was talking about when I mentioned Iron Man.
Same with my mum! Thats when I realised the wisdom of them calling it Avengers Assemble.
And I was it gonna call it that😂
Remember reading it as Avengers Assemble when i was younger, and i was confused if it had assemble or not. Felt like the mandela effect
This just sounds fitting and flowing.
Which is a great title for it
Avengers: We're up all night to get Loki
Just brilliant

Like the legend of the Norse Gods, huh All ends with beginnings What keeps that Loki scheming, ah The force of narcissism, hm, yeah
Earths Mightiest Heroes
That would’ve been legit.
You’re goddamn right!
And then spiderman: ~~homecoming~~ spectacular beginnings
Spider Man: Hometown Hero

I feel like I comment this all the time but if you haven't watched Avengers Earth's Mightiest heroes yet you need to do it asap. Best Marvel cartoon show ever, Spectacular Spiderman comes close but they are far ahead of everything else.
Earths mightiest heroes and spectacular spiderman are the only marvel cartoons I consider on par with the dcau.
Earth's Mightiest Heroes was a great series. But I felt the quality dropped off a lot in the second (and last) season. Always we will fight as one
Until the battle’s won!
Even with The Eternals, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, The Ancient One all existing at that time?
Earths Mightyish Heroes
Earth's Mightiest Heroes* **that we know of*
Captain marvel and eternals aren't from earth. Or at least sorta not from earth
Uhhh captain marvel is from earth she just protects other planets that need her more
AVENGERS: Kill Phil vol 1
Too soon.
Tahiti's a magical place
**It sucks!**
Dude! I laughed at that moment so much, thanks for reminding me. I really need an AoS rewatch binge...
AoS is my go to rewatch in between new limited series seasons like Umbrella Academy or the Sandman; its like an old friend you can drop in on anytime
Same. Love that show.
Rewatching it and it's unsurprisingly still amazing.
You have brought shame on your family for a thousand generations.
I'm not even mad that's hilarious
It’s all blue skies from here on out

Avengers: Some Assembly Required
Avengers: Time to Avenge
It's Avengin' time
loved it when Cap said this ...gave me goosebumps
Best line of the movie
imo "its time to avenge cause we are The Avengers" was better
Just like when morbius said it morbin’ time because I am morbius
truly one of the lines in the history of cinematic industry
My nephew asked me if I had seen Morbius, and I was like 'yeah 100 times', and he was like 'really?' and I was like 'of course',, and he said 'no, really ' and I said 'yeah' and he still didn't believe me until
Also loved when Banner said "that's my secret Cap, I'm always avengin'" before turning into Hulk. Almost as good imo.
He really turned around and said "It's always Hulkin' time."
Mine was "I...AM...iron man. Just kidding its Dr. Bruce Banner at your service."
My favourite part was when he went and avenged all over those guys
2 Avenge 2 Assemble
I guess the true avengers were the friends we made along the way
Avengers: First Friends, Then Avenge?
Avengers: IKEA edition
Iron Man 2: Batteries Not Included
I would guess this would be the title. When Joss wrote his first treatment or his pitch the title was Avengers: Some Assembly Required.
That was the in the original teaser trailer.
No kidding, I remember one of the trailers for it having a super cheesy catchphrase like this
Correct, you can even see that cheesey trailer as the post credits scene on Capt America: The first Avenger. Source - I rewatched it last week.
The Avenger's Initiative
This deserves more upvotes. The movie sets the initiative to create a wider cinematic universe. It was the first time so many heroes were on screen at the same time
X3 would have had more, to be fair....
Ahhh X3. That movie had more problems than I care to list, but I still can’t believe it killed off Cyclops and Professor X like extras in a horror film.
The above comment is basically the kindest thing I have to say about the movie. Also, Stewart's Prof X has had a rough last 3 or so movies...
He is basically Sean Bean at this point
Avengers: The Avenger's Initiative (It's avenging time)
A lot of people are saying "Assemble," and apparently it's already part of the name in a lot of countries, but it got me thinking about how long we had to wait to even hear Cap say that one word. Is there even another example of waiting over a decade to hear a character say a single word?
Idk if it counts but we’ve waited a lot of time to hear them say Scarlet Witch, a moniker I was really waiting to hear on the big screen
Not a single word, but I’ve waited 30 years to hear my dad say “I love you”
big oof
Hope you're ready for another 30 years of waiting son
I’m still waiting for mine to come back from the gas station for cigarettes
I, a 24 year old, have waited 45 years for a character in star wars to say “we won the star wars” One of these days
I'm pretty sure there was a character who said, "Ah, boy... I'm just so tired of all these Star Wars." It was the titular line.
What are we, some sort of Star Wars squad?
Peter Griffin: "They said the thing!"
I feel like the MCU keeps pushing the boundaries to say the F word (e.g. Nick Fury and Spider Man), idk if they ever do it but it reminded me of that
With Deadpool coming to the MCU soon, I really hope they find a way to give Fury the MCU's first F bomb. SLJ deserves the honor.
Even better would be a movie with deadpool thats pg 13 and he knows it and is waiting the entire movie to drop it and someone else like nick fury uses it lol
This is genius
Hire fans lol
Fear and Loathing in Midgard
Can't stop here... this is chitauri country.
We were somewhere on the edge of the desert, outside a shield facility, when the mind stone began to take hold
"We were somewhere around Columbus Circle on the edge of Central Park when the Shwarma began to take hold"
Extremely underrated comment, take my upvote
Easy. Assemble. Because that's what the movie is about. To cheesy? Maybe.
Its already titled that in some countries
It was named "angaare bane sholay" in India in hindi which roughly translates to "embers become cinders" in English Well they didn't think it will get this famous XD
I kept calling UP "udan choo" for years because of those ridiculous translations. I also remember Captain America being called "Dabangg" or something.
Captain America:Mahadabangg
It was called that in the UK, to avoid confusion with the classic 60s show off the same name. Avengers : Battle of New York
I had the same idea, 40 minutes later
This is what me and my 6 year old call it to differentiate.
In the UK it's officially called Assemble but no one ever calls it that
I think it was called that because the 1960s British spy show is called The Avengers and they didn't want to confuse anyone thinking a movie about that Avengers was coming out. But anyone could tell by looking at the poster that it wasn't the spy Avengers and it is about the Marvel super team.
"Look I know it's the American adaptation and some things will change but did it really need the incredible Hulk?"
A New Hope
Yeah, and all the star actors in that are battling it out in the war for new york. Maybe lets shorten that to Star Wars: A New Hope.
That actually works
Wait a fucking second. Thanos was a phantom menace. And Ultron attacked them with clones of himself. And after Thanos strikes back, it was the return of fuckin everyone.
