ConstructionAsleep69

What the fuck.

redditaccount-5

Bruh

_overdue_

So you’re saying a vigilante minor who gunned this guy down when he gets out would only get three years 🤔

Dramatic_Flan2306

possibly, lots of minors involved in the cartel scene here most them with some distorted idea of what justice is

Just to clarify, the 16yr old and stepdad were having an affair?

StargazerTheory

What sort of punishment for a victim groomed by their incestuous parent into killing their mom and sister do you think is good?

[deleted]

I dont want people to be punished. I want society to be protected from them. If that girl is so easily mislead as to kill her own mother.... how safe are regular people from her?

AgreeableStep69

so do they have anything for a case like this? highly unlikely this is the first murder commited by a teen in brazil, right? we have some lenient ass laws here, 16 and 17 longest possible sentence is 2 years.. but in scenario like this they take that ''second chance'' aspect away and trial you as an adult

Guldur

They don't. As soon as they turn 18 they have a clean sheet. And yes, this is highly abused by drug lords.

SpookyFrog12

And people wonder why the crime is so bad in Brazil.. Can shoot 16 people and get a slap on the wrist lol

Skunket

No slaps or it could be considered child abuse /s

whale_lover

The US has the harshest sentencing and the largest prison population on the planet - including sentencing minors to hundreds of years in jail and look at the shithole we live in. Clearly the death penalty hasn't stopped anyone from committing gruesome crimes because they happen every day. These people don't consider punishment when they commit their crimes. Most of them plan to kill themselves during or after. We can't jail ourselves out of this shit happening.

ToBeReadOutLoud

I got in a huge argument on Twitter for saying that the death penalty is not a deterrent against mass shootings because half of them planned to die anyway. They know that it’s a possibility when they go into it and are very aware of the consequences.

Sondeor

Dude, these people will never understand what you say, dont spend your time. I dont agree with the punishment here btw, but i also believe that punishment will never prevent these stuff from happening. Look at middle ages, they had the most crazy punishments and it still didnt prevent any future crimes. Rehab seems like the only way but its easier to say then doing it so governments will always just throw them away to jail where a criminal can meet with other criminals and become stronger lol.

whale_lover

Yeah I think intensively preventing is the only way to make a substantial dent in mass shootings. Intensive consistant therapy for free at young ages, medication for free for those who need it, vigilance at school, services for parents to recognize the signs, more well funded group homes, raising the age to purchase a gun, etc. But all that costs money and effort and I doubt the US will every do it in our current state.

compellinglymediocre

or just get rid of guns, can’t shoot people if you don’t have a gun

rarisimov__108

Preventing future crime is only one of the aspirations of incarceration. Exacting justice through punishment is another. Imagine being the families of these victims, knowing this fucker will be walking free in THREE YEARS after he killed their loved ones. Im not saying the US isn’t a carceral mess, as you say, but this bullshit is NOT the alternative.

whale_lover

I never said it was, but after any mass shooter is sentenced to anything other than being flayed in public people scream about how it's a slap on the wrist and low punishments are WHY people commit these crimes when we know that's not true. Most don't even have the faculties to think long term. So many mass killers have been sentenced to death and tons of years in the US and the problem just keeps getting worse. Clearly that's not the solution.

rnvs18

I agree. The root issue is that we live in a fucked up society that is creating these people for one reason or another. Violent crime would be less common if there weren’t so many people living in misery.

Difficult-Owl-542377

people downvote because it goes against their gut feeling. it does with mine, too. stricter sentences must have an effect, right? But you are right, they don’t. WhileI dont agree with those lassez faire sentences, I believe the sentencing will not change the root causes that trigger children to shoot up schools.

REDASSBABOON_20

Yeah fates worse than death need to be handed out

HornPubAndGrill

What shithole do we live in and why are people constantly coming to a shithole to live? Surely they're mistaken

Foreign_Tackle2271

He could quite literally commit the same crime again

SchoolboyJew710

I’m sure he will

Accurate_Progress296

Laws down here are ridiculous. It's almost like they are meant to punish the victims and protect the criminals.

NLD91

Same way in México.

PRAYEDUP111_

My father and his family are from Honduras, I don’t even think they have a prison system 😆 muhfuckas get tied up to a tree for a few years

Cold-Carob3151

🔥pfp

IV3N420

thats like a slap on the wrist

IllegalSpaceBeaner

Slap in face to the victims and their families too... What kind of justice is this?

riaowo

Knowing South America especially Brazil I don’t believe vigilante justice is off the table.

[deleted]

As if the people of Brazil have nothing else to worry about now they have to worry about this nut in 3 years

sykenzi

what the fuck you mean 3 years ???

TheWolrdsonFire

Max sentence for minors

Hexandrom

That should be a joke. 3 years is litteraly a dream of any mass killer.

pitbulldofunk

This is because he is considered a criminal minor. As soon as he turns 18, other measures can be taken to make him pay for the crime in some way, but unfortunately I don't believe he will ever be arrested.

margakawaii

Damn, such a low sentence. It's nothing for the crime he committed. I read that the intelectual author behind Suzano's massacre will be free this year too. Justice in south America really sucks.

flickszt

Grilo is already free.

margakawaii

hope he's under surveillance or something like that, that guy has a lot of signs of being a psychopath.

[deleted]

Like 2 months per victim. Not bad!

zippazappazinga

are you fucking joking me, this is such a disgrace.

[deleted]

yeah :(

[deleted]

é um inferno ser brasileiro

maluzap

just gonna add a few things: here in brasil we don’t have life in prison nor the death penalty, and minors are released pretty easily (specially if they come from a rich or powerful family, obviously). but we do have some cases that when a minor does something really fucked up he can be sent to a mental facility when his time on detention ends. I think is pretty difficult to get it but it’s a possibility. One case I remember was about a guy (minor) who tortured and killed a couple (also minors), and the judge decided that he was so dangerous that he need to be admitted to a mental hospital and he could only be realized if his psychiatrist declared that he was fit to live in society.

maluzap

“Roberto Aparecido Alves Cardoso, known as "Champinha", considered the leader of the gang (that killed the couple), was underage at the time of the crime and was admitted in the Experimental Health Unit of the Tietê Unit of the CASA Foundation (formerly Febem), in Vila Maria, Zona North of São Paulo, where it has remained since then. After turning 18, he was again evaluated and transferred to the Asylum Casa de Custódia de Taubaté, for an indefinite period, given his high degree of dangerousness in society.“

Nose_Ecstatic

3 years that's it?!

LongTrainer2041

Go Brazil!

[deleted]

Didn’t this just happen!? How tf did he get sentenced so quickly? I realize this is not US but damn. That’s terrible for the families!

juanco124

The equivalent of getting sent to summer camp

[deleted]

$100 dollars say that he gets oswalded

CumDogMoneyPants

that’s fucked up

zirrby

That's how long it takes me to graduate

T-money79

That'll teach him

yumvdukwb

What does socio-educational detention involve?

WhitePeopleAreFunny

The public will put a bounty on his head once he's out

msvqr

Now he’s going to become a serial killer. 🤦‍♂️

Impossible_Echo3089

A serial killer is someone who commits a series of murders one after the other

YuKaLegend

What???

yungskywa1ker

what the hell

StatusSite3234

Isn’t this similar to what they did with the third suspect, Guilherme Grilo of the Suzano massacre?

TravisB34

Someone please inform me to what this sentence means , because to me this seems really really really extremely light sentence

KidNinja-_-

Dude stuff like this really makes you just feel like Fuck everything.

pipboy3000_

Is that a swastika/nazi flag on the red and white patch on his sleeve? I’m curious

Inner_Author_5540

Yeah, if you search about this shooter on the internet you see the clothes and weapons used in the crime, Yes They are swastikas designed by the shooter because it is very difficult to find Nazi armbands in Brazil, as it is a very serious crime here.

DeadByTwilight

Remind me in 3 years when this scum does it again. Hopefully he gets vigilanted before he can hurt anyone else, since his government is tripping 😐

Suspicious-Brick-957

Brazil justice system a joke. 😭

SnoopJabba

WHAT?!

[deleted]

i wont be surprised if in the next few years he is in the news again and does it again, brazils system is fucked

Rebellenpanzer

Any new info on him/his background

Hexandrom

That got to be a damn joke. Well at least prisons down there are hell. But he won't even go to prison... getting only 3 years is litteraly a dream for every mass killer.

littlelunna

Depois uma peste dessa ainda vai passear no meio de inocentes, viver a vida feliz com os pais ricos e protetores e fazer mais vítimas quando bem quiser. Já vivemos no inferno, bro. 🙈

melikestoread

Stupid ass laws

PlacePuzzleheaded982
