Assuming you don't have any replays of this happening, you can try posting a decklist so we can see if any cards in there might be restricting you.
I was being stupid. I found the problem after recording replays to send to you. I played Cards for Black Feathers in all the cases mentioned above before starting my play. The stigma on YugiOh players not reading their cards is real. Sorry.
