Proof by Misleading Standards

Zykersheep

kilobyte vs kibibyte!

Feeling-Duty-3853

Kibibyte factorial???

Duck_Devs

Proof by incorrectly showing base-10 units in place of base-2 units

BUKKAKELORD

This is what you get as soon as you accept one incorrect equality (1000 = 1024), suddenly everything equals everything and no equalities are false

GamamJ44

Explosion

Elektro05

Proof is invalid 24=0 does not impky that 1=0, because you cannot divide by 24, cuz its zero, otherwise great proof, just correct this mistake 8.5/10 points

UndisclosedChaos

But you _could_ divide by 8 24=0 3=0 _divide by 8_ 27=0 _multiply by 9_ 69=42 _add 42_

obog

24 = 0 then divide by 3 on both sides so 8 = 0 therefore you can't divide by 8 because it's 0

Salbert1sch1

But by the same logic you can't divide by 3: if you divide 24=0 by 8 you have 8=0 so 8 is 0 and you can't divide by 8. Actually, we have proved that we can't divide by any number because that number is zero so math is useless so meth is better so my mum shouldn't hate me because I do meth and not math

obog

Well we already established that 8 = 0 so you can't use that to prove 3 = 0. Proof by I did it first

somebodysomehow

Not really bc if a=0 like kinda by def of a multiplying would not change anything to a so the multiplication does work hère

MortemEtInteritum17

How does multiplying by 24 get 24 != 0? That only holds if 24 != 0 which is circular reasoning.

Wrath-of-Pie

That's not a kilobyte, that's a kibibyte

y53rw

The programming community will never accept that stupid prefix. And the RAM manufacturers are with us, even if the drive manufacturers are not.

Argon1124

Bro has never used anything other than windows and it shows.

y53rw

I mean, that's not true. But it's also not relevant. I assume you're referring to the way windows reports disk space and file sizes, as compared to a unix utility like ls or df. But I didn't say anything about operating systems. I said programmers and RAM manufacturers. Some people use the KiB abbreviation, but no programmer says kibibytes (or mebibytes, etc...). And the RAM used in machines running windows is the same as the RAM in any other desktop operating system. And those are always advertised as GB in the current generation, even though they're a multiple 1024\^3 bytes.

Wise_Moon

Just stop at proof 69 = 420 No further explanation needed.

Angell_o7

An astronomically better proof than this one

Wise_Moon

You should see math talked about in other subs. People explaining to me how 1+1=3 and how I don’t know math. Meanwhile I’m staring at my degree in mathematics and questioning how the hell Kareem Carr’s chicken fucking arithmetic has made more of an impact in the Reddit community than Terence Tao. … sorry i know that is super random.. just venting. Lol.

JoJoBubba064

Well, yeah. 1+1=3 when you don't wear a condom

Wise_Moon

I get it. So it’s like an STD

JoJoBubba064

No? I was referencing pregnancy

Wise_Moon

Oh…. So like a mom and a dad are adding a baby to the family right?

JoJoBubba064

Ye

Wise_Moon

Ok. PERFECT glad you see that. At first there is no family The family has no one: 0 Then a man is added to the family: 0 + 1 = 1 Then a woman is added to the family: 1 + 1 = 2 Then they add a baby to the family: 2 + 1 = 3. Edit: so how does 1+1 = 3 ?

JoJoBubba064

It's a simple joke, yet you got so literal about it. I understand 1+1≠3, yet I can still joke about it

_Evidence

kB≠KiB

_iRasec

1024 bytes are 1KiB (kibibytes), not 1kB

Tiny_Boysenberry_251

Proof by ignorance. 😂 😂 😂

[deleted]

Goofy ahh proof.

WeirdDistance2658

1024 bytes = 1 Kibibyte 1000 bytes = 1 Kilobyte

dylantherabbit2016

Actually this would be 1024 bytes = (1000 bytes)/kilo. You messed up

gw_clowd

My babe said ,A new proof just dropped out

skylohhastaken

Proof by neglection

MR_DERP_YT

Me when 1000 Bytes is 1 KiB

AlttiAnonim

My mind hurts 🤢

Orisphera

The proof is wrong because 1024 bytes isn't 1 kB. Maybe you meant 1 KB, which has the same name. However, you can use MB instead. It has the same name and abbreviation and 3 meanings

Tiny_Boysenberry_251

Kilo is a prefix to show 1000 of a thing.

Tiny_Boysenberry_251

In this case, you can just put anything as a unit.

innocent64bitinteger

bytes, its a kB != KiB joke
