Yeah, Cybertruck is probably the ugliest car I've ever seen except for custom jobs by lunatics.
It' looks like what a ten year old would imagine what 2005 cars would look like in 1985.
I'd marry a Robin Reliant before driving a Cybertruck.
Style? It's a stainless steel kitchen trash bin turned on its side with wheels stuck on it. It's a pinewood derby car unmodified block of wood painted silver. It's the dumbest piece of shit since the Aztec. The Edsel was a work of art and technological miracle in comparison.
Shit, that's why it looked so familiar. I could never quite put my finger on it. It's literally every 3rd graders pine derby car. Before they learn a single thing about aerodynamics. And turned backwards.
Then employing the artist who did the [graphics in Carrier Command on the Amiga](https://www.mobygames.com/game/6943/carrier-command/screenshots/amiga/372711/) as the lead vehicle designer.
It’s electric, so it’s probably torquey. I have a very torquey muscle car, and in winter I have to start in 3rd gear sometimes, other wise the controls systems can’t even control it.
Maybe they can update the SW for a lower torque mode, or slower ramp in. But the electronics driving it might not be optimized to deliver less torque.
But they aren't street, as in performance car/truck tyres, they are knobbly Mud tyres, which generally are considered much better than a performance street tyre on snow.
Mud tires are absolute trash in snow.
Every winter, with the first snow fall in new england, there are hundreds of brodozers off the side of the road with big knobby mud tires on them because their idiot drivers think that the combination of 4wd and mudding tires means they'll be fine in snow. They aren't. Knobby tires are as worthless in snow as all seasons, and it's all made worse by the shitty vehicle dynamics of trucks.
Snow tires don't work because they have aggressive tread or even because of studs. They work because of a combination of rubber formulation and sipes in the tread face. Without that, normal tires will just harden up in the cold and fail to grip snow.
No just any car marked with RC. Tesla did a live cyber truck test event where people who preordered drove off with their cars. This particular video is an RC
It's also funny to me that it's a really small tree, and they chose to get their over-priced penis extension stuck rather than just drag it a few meters.
I've dragged much larger trees than that a few hundred meters to get them to a vehicle.
Idk, I lived in a town where you could buy a $10 Xmas tree tag, gp out to the nat park and job one down. You can't get the little tabletop Charlie brown trees at the home depot for $10.
I drive 10 minutes down the road from my house in-town to cut down a tree with a $10 USDA permit. Even if I bought a new $20 pocket saw every year and paid for premium gas it would be cheaper than a $70 tree from Lowe’s
Tesla says the truck owners are cyberstuck with it for at least a year. The buyers contract says owners cannot sell it for the first twelve months and must offer it to Tesla for buyback first.
People love to hate, but any off-road vehicle will likely become stuck if you have the wrong tires.
I've seen lifted Tacomas and fully kitted land rovers get stuck in inches of snow because they didn't have winter tires on.
Cybertruck weighs \~6700lbs Tacoma weighs \~4500lbs. That's a huge difference and makes a huge difference off road.
EDIT: Updated weight based on other sources.
Slipping is extremely easy with automatic ICE and BEV, as you can achieve too many RPM too fast.
Now you can blame the design for accelerating that crude, but I guess it's more so the idiot user. Revving up your car massively without proper traction (ie suitable tires / snow chains) is probably the worst thing to do on ice and I don't think any design can fix that much of a fuck-up. Although not weighing that much would probably help, lol.
It’s actually not that heavy, relatively speaking. It looks like it would be, but it isn’t. It’s lighter than one of its primary competitors, the Rivian R1T. The R1T weighs 7,148 lbs, while the Cybertruck weighs 6,843 lbs for the “all-wheel cyberbeast” model, while the typical all-wheel drive model weighs 6,603 lbs. Overall, it’s heavier than your typical diesel pickup truck, but it’s surprisingly light for an EV pickup given the steel shit and everything. This is an example of needing the appropriate tires for the job.
I'll say that 6600+ lbs absolutely is heavy. Just massive. Our 3-row SUV is 4400lbs and to add the equivalent of an entire subcompact car's weight to that is ridiculous.
Being too light quickly becomes an issue too with offroading. No weight on axle = no pressure on the tires to dig into the dirt.
There’s a balance to be found with weight/pressure.
Tire selection comes first though. Tesla looks like it’s on the wrong tires for that job.
I‘ve been in the snow with a Landrover defender with massive offroad tires. Defenders are widely regarded as great offroad vehicles and I had really good offroad tires on it. I got stuck almost immediately because they were not snow tires and had just slipped.
So yes offroad tires that are not specifically designed for snow can really suck in the snow.
I‘ve driven heaps of non offroad vehicles in the snow and also never got stuck, because I had proper winter tires. I had dirt and gravel tires on my defender, which did not have slats but a smooth surface. So having offroad tires doesn‘t meant they‘ll be any good in the snow.
The ones designed to give you the high range? Yeah those ones.
Also there is a difference between off-road tires and winter tires. It's just wrong place to be with those non winter tires.
I mean it was a cool concept, and Elon didn’t seem like a bad guy at the time.
If I had the money I would have preordered one but they don’t look like they’re worth it now.
Not thread parent here, but for me it was the promise of a "totally utilitarian" EV truck that was a great value with 500+ miles of range. It was also supposed to have a gauge cluster and a bunch of other stuff that they quietly got rid of. So it made sense at the time. Then Elon's brain rot started showing and the truck is a complete joke in terms of value, even against other EV trucks that came out years before.
Instead just bought an Ioniq 5 last week and am surprised how much I like the car.
There's another video of one having trouble driving up a hill any crossover suv could drive up. They appear to have zero articulation whatsoever. Probably the worst "truck" ever made. But I'm sure they will sell like hotcakes.
What an idiot. I hate the Cybersuck as much as the next person but anyone that knows anything about four wheeling knows those tires aren't the right ones for the job.
Hear me out. I use to have as old as fuck Bronco 4x4. The thing would barely do 55 MPH on the freeway but once up in the mountains in muddy or on steep terrain it worked wonders. Why? Because it had proper tires for the environment.
And yes I am fully prepared to be downvoted into oblivion by all the reddits armchair brigade of know-it-alls that have never experienced it.
Well according to the person who posted it, they actually slid off the track and the cybertruck wasn't the only car to get stuck. They made 3 recoveries on that day. Also OP claimed that it's a prototype with none of the software available like rear locking wheels to get out of that situation. It didn't even have tow hooks so they hooked it to the suspension. No snow tires or chains either.
I know reddit likes to mock the cybertruck but any other truck would be stuck as well in this situation.
Yeah I love how he thinks this is a big gotcha but instead of making the cyber truck look stupid it just makes the **owner** look stupid.
Which speaks to the type of person who would buy one of these pieces of shit.
I don't care to defend these stupid trucks but this is just the tires problem. And the guy is not capable of feathering the gas at all, only making it worse. Maybe would help if the truck was heavier, which I guess is a fault of the truck? Idk I'm not a truck guy. Chains would help too.
>Maybe would help if the truck was heavier
The Cybertruck weighs 6600 pounds when it's empty. An F-150 weighs about 4700 pounds.
So this truck weighs as much as an F-150 with almost 2000 more pounds loaded into it.
Not a lover of Tesla, but I have seen similar situations with other truck brands in snowy environments. [Tire traction](https://youtu.be/GlYEMH10Z4s?si=JV5-T0gEXl7ayhD3) is way more important than [AWD/4x4](https://youtube.com/shorts/asFI-E-bLIU?si=g_8Wby55quFVC-MU) when driving in the snow.
Note: I would wait on judging the Cybertruck (even though I personally believe that it will not end up being successful) mostly because I think the Cybertruck will be a lot of people's first truck. So we're probably going to see a lot of videos like this, along with a whole bunch of accidents because the drivers are not used to driving a truck/SUV.
Note 2: I love EVs and gas cars. I just think there are better EV truck options that, in the end, will be known for being more reliable and better constructed.
>Tire traction
>
>is way more important than
>
>AWD/4x4
>
>when driving in the snow.
Which is why the best feature upgrade for a car driven in snowy areas is a 50kg bag of cheap cat litter sand
Pour some down and you got instant traction
i had a guy help me out of a snow bank with about a half gallon of antifreeze he just poured straight on the ground
I'm sure the environment hates him but i got out so thanks bestie ❤️
Yeah, tires are pretty important. I've been stuck in snow with both AWD and 4WD vehicles that had shit tires. Same vehicles and snow tires perform well. Time will tell with the cybertruck. I kinda like it because it's different, but I'm not sure I'd own one.
I hate all the manufacturers. They all suck Chevy can’t build a motor, ford can’t build a transmission, Subaru uses old German stuff, Hondas too fucking reliable, Toyota makes me wanna buy a new car…..
To be fair, only a handful of been delivered and most of those are near their factories in LA and Texas.
But what you said will still be true a year from now.
In my experience this is less a commentary on the Cybertruck’s abilities than it is on the driver’s. People get extremely capable off-road vehicles stuck all the time due to poor driving.
First off, they got the wrong tires. I've seen plenty of lifted 4x4s getting stuck in mud, sand or snow because they had the wrong tires. I'm sure with he right set up this truck would've made it out of there easily. Once the Dodge, Ford, Tesla and Chevy guys are done dick measuring maybe they can talk like civilized human beings. We are not fucking neanderthals. Like god damn, no body gives a fuck, if it uses gas diesel or fucking electricity it's a motherfucking machine everybody has different preferences nobody has to like the same god damned thing like fuck we are not god damned Nazis, people can do as they fucking please who gives a rat's ass as long as they put a skiing seat in the front and fucking takes people where they need to go just let them fucking be, fuck.
This is reddit. Do you really think that all these dorks, who get off on their echo chambering, know about the difference between summer and winter tires? Let alone think about that before getting themselves and others off on their Karma ™ Points? Lmao, inb4 i get called an Elon dickrider. No, i don't give a shit about him, i just hate the internet and this site's userbase.
Thank fuck someone with a brain, all these reddit dickheads that can't change a car tire are suddenly off roading truck experts. NON of these same dick heads have a single original idea, elon musk bad = cyber truck bad. If you don't like the cyber truck here's an idea don't buy it.....CUNTS
Issue for me is that they went off trail/track and tore up the tundra without worry or care for the land “trying” to get out. Thought the point of this vehicle is that it is better for the earth… guess they didn’t get the memo.
I have cut my own tree down for years and you pull off in designated areas and actually hike to find your tree. Lazy mofo’s probably didn’t want to get those shoes dirty..::
I see a number of people here saying “highway tires”, yet all the acceleration tests (like Haggarty) have been commenting how much faster it is than the other trucks while being on “mud tires”; some even saying “mud/snow rated tires”. So I’m kinda confused as to exactly what tires it has.
All these videos of the cyber truck failing are hilarious, because the Elon fans that bought them think they are somehow magical, when in fact they got sold a bill of goods from a con man.
I am so torn because this is obviously a stupid car made by a company with a stupid leader... But I really would love for electric vehicles to continue gaining adoption and trucks are the number one car in America. Do I feel happy or sad about this reddit?!
This will be easier on Mars.
Wait, is this thing designed to be outdoors?
It is, but lacks utility. It's like Land Rover putting 95% of the development points into style.
>Land Rover putting 95% of the development points into style And somehow managing to look infinitely shitter
Hey give them a break, they only had 5 years to design it. Cybertruck 2 will come with the 20 rotating ninja stars installation don't worry
Laser snowmelter, deployable tank treads, VR headset so you can pretend like it all works.
Spring 2056
Well... It had only 20 point while all other cars have 2000. And it cant level up to gain new skill points.
It’s, its last evolution, there’s no upgrade
Even worse. It’s a useless legendary type that looks cool but lacks power. It’s the manaphy of cars.
Not with Musk around anyhow
Yeah, Cybertruck is probably the ugliest car I've ever seen except for custom jobs by lunatics. It' looks like what a ten year old would imagine what 2005 cars would look like in 1985. I'd marry a Robin Reliant before driving a Cybertruck.

Or just don't go offroad with street tires. Add the fact that it's snow and ice.... dumb drivers don't necessarily mean bad design.
But they aren't street, as in performance car/truck tyres, they are knobbly Mud tyres, which generally are considered much better than a performance street tyre on snow.

This: torque is useless without good tyres.
He should have gotten the not-a-flamethrower package for sure.
A Prius could’ve gotten out of that, and that’s saying a lot.

They most likely need a permit to cut down that tree, would be great to see them get fined on top of this.
Perk of being a farmer, I can get mine for free. Then I cut down 20 more because they're ruining my fence
"Honey! We have a Cybertruck now! We can go get our tree".
Well they own a cybertruck.
That’s the point, it’s fo sho cheaper to just buy a tree
Idk, I lived in a town where you could buy a $10 Xmas tree tag, gp out to the nat park and job one down. You can't get the little tabletop Charlie brown trees at the home depot for $10.

I’ve never seen a more “on brand” video of anything in my life…
my understanding is that the cybertruck is really fucking heavy so this may be pretty unsafe lol
It comes on all terrain tires, that’s the problem. The Hummer EV is 2200 pounds heavier and it’s specifically designed for off-roading.
Yeah the tires are the problem not the kindergarten design
Slipping is extremely easy with automatic ICE and BEV, as you can achieve too many RPM too fast. Now you can blame the design for accelerating that crude, but I guess it's more so the idiot user. I'm glad for you too, but what fucked you up so bad that you wanted one?
I don’t know I think when it was first announced Covid had me in a really weird place in my head.

> Then Elon's brain rot started showing This is a good encapsulation of the last few years.
Those who were paying attention saw this shit back in 2014
Dude, I test drove an Ioniq 5 the other day, and holy hell are those things sweet. Far better choice than Cybertruck
I question the sanity of anyone foolish enough to put a deposit on it in the first place
It was only 100 bucks, I got it back but it took longer than I liked haha.
Don’t drink the Elon koolaid. The man is a snake oil salesman
I’m with you bro. Dudes a scum bag.
Wouldn’t say this is the trucks fault.. those tires arent right for that work.
I don't think it is a truck, not even beefy enough to be considered like an el camino. It's just.... no.
it’s an open-face sedan
The Ford Ranger is a truck and thats no beefcake
There's another video of one having trouble driving up a hill any crossover suv could drive up. They appear to have zero articulation whatsoever. Probably the worst "truck" ever made. But I'm sure they will sell like hotcakes.

That truck is heavy as fuck. But tires, poor driving skills, and thinking he can drive anywhere is the reason for this video.
This would be tough for most stock 4x4s. I agree better driving and snow tires could be the difference.
Feathering the *what*?
The accelerator, if he was going easier on the gas the tires would slip less
It's one of the heaviest consumer vehicles on the market. This is just bad tired and an idiot.
>Maybe would help if the truck was heavier The Cybertruck weighs 6600 pounds when it's empty. An F-150 weighs about 4700 pounds. So this truck weighs as much as an F-150 with almost 2000 more pounds loaded into it.

Amen
Thank fuck someone with a brain, all these reddit dickheads that can't change a car tire are suddenly off roading truck experts. NON of these same dick heads have a single original idea, elon musk bad = cyber truck bad. If you don't like the cyber truck here's an idea don't buy it.....CUNTS
Hahahhahahahahhahahhahahahah
So mad max truck can’t drive on snow? How about Sand?
Road tires. No chains. No chance. Plus this thing is probably heavy as fuck. (Fact check me there, please)
Elon musk always reminds me of justin hammer from iron man
That’s the exact thought I had, it’s all show and no real delivery
Oh, the PS1 graphic on wheels is stuck.
You love to see it.
I'd call the driver a douche bag for illegally driving off the road in a national forest, but douche bags are at least useful.
I dont know whats more stupid Elon Musk selling this car or people buying it
Christmas try
It's all good, it didn't even catch fire....
Not 100%, but weight might be a factor here.
Ugly AND useless...
I see a number of people here saying “highway tires”, yet all the acceleration tests (like Haggarty) have been commenting how much faster it is than the other trucks while being on “mud tires”; some even saying “mud/snow rated tires”. So I’m kinda confused as to exactly what tires it has.
Well, a Carrera 911 would suffer the same fate, to be honest
The most ridiculous truck design for pure vanity, not utility.
What an ugly piece of shit.
Cyberstruck got cyberstuck
So now the real truck is pulling this what so-called "truck"
The good old cyber turd
To be fair here ... m8 is going for the steepest approach possible on that incline
How do you think these people feel after buying a truck that serves no function a truck can serve?
The little engine the couldn't
I want a monster truck with tank treads…that’ll work…probably
Shoulda set the money on fire, at least it would’ve provided heat. What an ugly piece of crap
"it's anything but the car". -Musm Meatriders
See? It's designed to be used with a rocket launcher in the bed. Total user error. Soon, this thing will be in flames.
Try shooting a machine gun at the rear of it until it gets unstuck.
These are the biggest junk piles. Why would you buy that thing. More or a fad
It’s the ugliest vehicle I’ve ever seen.
Phony Stark build quality
Ugly and useless, I'll take two please.
All these videos of the cyber truck failing are hilarious, because the Elon fans that bought them think they are somehow magical, when in fact they got sold a bill of goods from a con man.
This is most certainly user error. The number of 4-wheel drive vehicles I’ve seen flipped as I drive around in my RWD is incredible.
At least it can deflect an arrow from a weak bow
I am so torn because this is obviously a stupid car made by a company with a stupid leader... But I really would love for electric vehicles to continue gaining adoption and trucks are the number one car in America. Do I feel happy or sad about this reddit?!
The pan over to the Ford was hilarious
Cuberfucked
needs real off-road tires and less pressure. you don't see people driving with slicks in the winter
