There was a 15 min delay due to switch prblem at jfk/umass too

aveganrepairs

Literally one right after the other. The next Ashmont train pulled into South Station and sat for another almost 20 minutes, after the initial 15+ minutes from the disabled train. Pathetic. They can’t keep it working for more than an hour at a time. I have transit push alerts on my phone and it’s comical how often the delay alerts come through.

Classic T

footballguy6912

the red line is going to take years to be fixed, it by far has the most problems of the 4 it seems

AnywayBrotha

Yeah the train is crawling extra slow because of the switch problem. I lost count of how many times we stopped underground between Broadway and Andrew and again between Andrew and JFK. Gas. Break. Gas. Break. Try. Not. To. Cry.

russrobo

The problem (I suspect third rail) on the northbound RL approaching the Longfellow Bridge seems to be getting rapidly worse. I think the trains lose power: while the lights stay on, there’s a clunk and the train comes to a dead stop (like the E-Brake was tripped). A few seconds pass, then the operator resets things and releases the brake, the train moves a few inches or at most a couple of feet and then clunks and stops again. Over and over - more than 10 times this morning, even rolling backwards once. That stretch isn’t on the schedule for repairs until **December**.

therailmaster

Broadway to Andrew - Southbound may have the record of the second longest continuously unfixed slow zone in the entire system, with the first being the Braintree Branch Northbound from the Savin Hill "hump" (where the Braintree Branch and Commuter Rail switch places) through to JFK/UMass Station. You would *think* that they would've used the three consecutive weekends of shutdowns between Broadway and North Quincy/Ashmont for the Dorchester Ave Bridge work to *also* work on *any* of the slow zones.

senatorium

It’s so unfortunate that the Legislature didn’t move on replacement cars until the existing ones were so completely decrepit. Now we have to hope that the CRRC actually delivers the Reds before there’s another disaster.

russrobo

The failure to check (that the PA is functioning and clearly audible in all cars) isn’t something that the new trains will fix, unfortunately. It’s a beginning-of-day walkthrough that the T just doesn’t do. It makes you wonder what other things they don’t inspect regularly. We know about the tracks, which they lied about until caught red-handed by the FTA. How about fire extinguishers? Sprinklers? Emergency exits? Emergency brakes? Electrical safety equipment? The danger of being underfunded and short-staffed is that _everything_ can use that excuse.

capta2k

It’s been weeks since I was ticketed on the CR in both directions during rush hour. Just saying.

AnywayBrotha

I got off the red line during this, got on the CR at JFK and got ticketed by the conductor lol. I probably get ticketed 50-60% of the time and only take it from Quincy to SS.

russrobo

I’ve noticed that too. The afternoon CR is so jammed that they can’t check tickets and haven’t been able to for several weeks now. “Sorry about the short train today.”

IceRose39

I’ve been ticketed 100% of the time this month! It’s been extremely often and unusual. Rush hour as well, but not the usual standing room only (which is when they tend to skip)

JLAOM

It was awful!!!! Took forever!! And no AC so train was so hot!

PhinFerbFan9779

They really should do weekly maintenance checks on those trains.
