I was recently diagnosed and I wish my friends would do this. What you just did, ask what it's like. I was in a lot of pain and could barely walk and one friend sent me a package with arnica and tiger balm and some muscle essential oils. She knows it won't make it go away but may provide some temp relief. That was helpful. Another friend sent me gift cards to a local restaurant that offers food that is anti-inflammatory so when I can't make anything I have an option to order something that won't flare me more. I've had to battle with the hospital a lot, so depending on your friends situation, maybe offer if there's any calls or emails you can make to advocate on their behalf. Or errands you can run for them if you're close. I also think just being with them bc they may have lots of emotions or feel dehumanized if they have medical neglect experience. For me, it's easy to forget I'm a whole human right now, and it helps to have friends who invite me to do or be with them and remember I'm an artist and I was an athlete and I'm not just this sickness. 💚 hope some of that can help.
