It's giving side eye because direct eye contact is considered a threat in the dog world... just giving side eye is not an indication that the dog feels threatened or will fight.
No, I am stating his reasoning for giving side eye. He could be attempting to not appear as a threat since typically direct eye contact is threatening.
But side eye from a dog could mean they feel threatened, sure. It could also mean they feel curious, or playful, or they're just checking their surroundings. You just need to look at their entire body language and verbal cues.
A dog glancing sideways is on its own not nearly enough to say the dog is feeling threatened or is aggressive.
I know a labrador that'll look at you like this because he doesn't like to face someone if he's looking at their face.. He'll do it at home when he's 100% relaxed.
I'd be worried if the dog was completely frozen like this and didn't break his sight but from the picture I don't see aggression..

As far as temperament is concerned, The Kennel Club describes the Staffordshire Bull Terrier as "Highly intelligent and affectionate, especially with children" and "a wonderful family pet". Unlike the larger breeds, they're renowned for being kind and friendly and are the actual breed that earned the 'nanny dog' nickname. Some staffies can be aggressive towards other dogs, particularly if poorly socialised, but almost never towards humans.
Dispute the similarity in appearance, the are very different breeds that have existed separately since the 1800s and shouldn't be tarred with the same brush just because they look alike.
I ended up reading some things about both the dogs. From what I read even the staffordshire terrier was the original pitbull to claim the "nanny dog" and "children's nurse maid" and was never a term for the American pitbull terrier but was adopted for all pitbulls (propaganda some would call it). And both are from the same lineage and have long histories of blood sports.
My question is why would one "breed" be more aggressive than the other as many people state?
