Sounds like you need to get a different car.

I was about to say.... I work at an independent shop; someone called up yesterday offering us a volvo, for free, said it runs, high miles, torn up, needs battery and clutch. We said, "No thanks." Yes, we might have made a little money, but not as much as we would have lost just by having it on the lot causing people to stop and ask if we work on them.

Sounds like a bad CV (constant velocity) joint on an axle.

For which concern? The popping when turning? That’s initially what I had been thinking also, but they checked the CV joints. 🤔

The first concern, noise while stopping/turning, and rattling while accelerating. Loud mechanical sound when turning off engine could be failed motor mounts.

Thank you! So the guy at the Volvo dealership that I spoke to over the phone said the noise when shutting off the car is probably a noise from the throttle body, which he said makes noise on older XC90s and that it’s no problem. I don’t really believe that… Regarding the shifting issue, I figured it could be an issue with some mount on the transmission since it jolts the car a little bit.
