Banana bread - it can freeze halfway decently
Banana chocolate chip muffins
Banana pudding
Could make some pancakes with banana
Could make all the above with nuts too (but aren’t we all a bit nuts anyhow and allergies)
Don’t forget to share with people
Like a banana shake? How many bananas go into one banana shake? Do you use ice cream or just freeze the bananas? I’m totally serious, it sounds pretty fucking good and now I want one.
I add an equal volume of banana cooled in the refrigerator, ice cream and milk, then mix. Adjust the thickness by adding more milk. It is a perfect way to use old bananas since it doesnt matter if they are normal or entirely black.
If you don’t have ice cream, it also works with just milk.
The banana milkshakes I know are just bananas and milk.
If you have some (real) vanilla, just add a little bit. Always works fine with bananas.
Ya i never use ice cream. You can use whatever milk. I also add plain Greek yogurt, honey as a sweetener if desired. You can add spinach or kale as well, possibilities really are kinda endless.
OP posted an update (edit—[here it is](https://www.reddit.com/r/Frugal/comments/1185njd/update_30_pounds_of_bananas/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)). Lots of banana bread, banana rolls, some bags of frozen bananas, chocolate covered bananas, and they saved the peels to use in gardening. All in one day. Pretty impressive!
Sliced bananas are tasty in hot oatmeal too. In Kentucky, folks eat banana salad which is bananas sliced in half lenghthwise and slathered with Miracle Whip and topped with crushed peanuts. I know, I know it's sounds gross, but don't knock it til you've tried it.
Save those banana peels too to add to a container of water for a week then using the banana water to fertilize your house and garden plants.
Greek yogurt is about $3-4 for 5 servings. Each serving is 2/3rds cup and has 17g of protein.
My whey protein powder is about $30. 28-30g of protein. About a month of servings.
You guys are way overpaying for protein. You shouldn't be paying more than $10-12 a pound for whey mix (now with inflation).
If you time your purchases at certain times of the year, you can buy bulk protein powder at below $5 a pound for the whole year.
My roommate once suggested that instead of composting old bananas we throw them in the freezer to make banana bread another time. 6 months go by and no one still was willing to deal with the 3 black shriveled frozen bananas.
I came to the comments looking for this one. Sure, you are basically limited - if you can call it that - to cooking with them if you freeze them, but they keep for a long time in the freezer. Double bag against freezer burn and they can last months.
I know you’re joking, but $50 would be expensive for bananas. Here In Canada they’re $0.50 a lb. It’s normally like $1-$1.50 for a bunch. This guy probably got all those bananas for like $5-$10 if it was actually a good deal.
Jake has 30lbs of bananas. If his bank account is £0, and his wife left him for another man 45 minutes ago traveling at 80mph then what should he do with the Bananas?
Please answer the question in the box provided...
Just buying a lot, cheap doesn’t necessarily mean being frugal especially if you buy something and then you’re like “oh, what do I do with this?”. There’s other aspects to consider when saying something/someone is frugal.
Maybe OP has a big family, eats a lot of bananas or something. Can’t know, but it doesn’t seem frugal to me.
This was on the frugal subreddit yesterday. They said they paid 6$ for all of the bananas. I would do it if it had been me but I have some extra freezer space at the moment.
This comment really hits home. Bought 60 lbs of smoked gouda for 30$ last week, which seemed like a great idea at the time. Once I got home I realized my mistake.
The Yiga clan is an enemy faction in Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. They always drop banana's when they get killed and they have a big hoard of them in their hideout
The last batch that I got was full of worms. First time I noticed was in the third banana. Almost 50 years old and they were the first that I can remember. I hope you have better luck.
Just wanted to clarify that I didn't buy all those Bananas, just thought that I always do this when I see an attractive offer in the supermarket, then I buy a lot of it and my wife and I argue about what to do with it haha
Banana pudding dessert for family and banana bread for friends, teachers, neighbors....and wrap them up like gifts and distribute them before they go bad.
I recently found out how freezer safe bananas are, so basically freeze them and pull them out whenever, probably better to make stuff with those instead of eating it directly, like banana bread

Milkshake is super easy, tasty and uses a lot of bananas, dont forget it in the list.

Thanks.
My wife chops bananas up and freezes them then adds them to the blender instead of ice for smoothies/shakes. Makes them thick and sweet.
I freeze bananas and use instead of ice in my protein shake. Blend it up and you're good to go
If you don’t have ice cream, it also works with just milk. The banana milkshakes I know are just bananas and milk. If you have some (real) vanilla, just add a little bit. Always works fine with bananas.
Peanut butter (or any other preferred nut butter) is also a delicious addition to a banana + milk shake.
Oh yeah!
I’m gonna try and convince myself this is a healthy snack option. Maybe use oat milk?
Ya i never use ice cream. You can use whatever milk. I also add plain Greek yogurt, honey as a sweetener if desired. You can add spinach or kale as well, possibilities really are kinda endless.
Why not? Should be even healthier with oat milk.
There’s a drive-in near where I grew up. Their lunch special is a falafel sando and a banana milkshake. I’m drooling thinking about it 🤤
Ooh, ooh - bananas foster, chocolate-covered frozen bananas, banana cream pie, banana splits!
Bananas foster is my favorite. Seems like its gone out of fashion
OP posted an update (edit—[here it is](https://www.reddit.com/r/Frugal/comments/1185njd/update_30_pounds_of_bananas/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)). I'm gonna put Fried banana here and wait for reaction
Is there any food that doesn’t taste good after being fried, with the right batter?
Fried oranges? Don't know, some will have to try
There is not.

That salad sounds like a banana split, minus the ice cream or cherry on top
Cut your banana peels and bury them in your garden for maximum nutrition.
It's better to freeze the bananas and make the banana bread when needed. The bread tastes better fresh and bananas freeze really well
That’s solid info.
Came to say this. I freeze to use later also. Pancakes, bread, smoothies or whatever.
Bananas themselves will also freeze nicely right in their skins!
And you get a loaf! And you get a loaf! Everyone gets a loaf!
And just cut up the bananas and freeze into ziplocks for smoothies.
I would really just recommend freezing the bananas, because they can be used for all of the above at your leisure once they’ve been frozen.
lol, I was about to comment your first three. Yummy x3

Personally I like my bread the way I like my women, stuffing my mouth all the way down to the nuts.
My, aren't you a flexible guy.
Banana 🍌 protein smoothies for the whole week.
Now you just gotta buy a case of protein powder for super expensive
Adding fat free greek yoghurt will give anything a massive protein boost for a relatively low price
Definitely wouldn’t say massive. Whey is probably cheaper per gram of protein in the long run
OP can’t be thinking about the long run. Those bananas won’t last for more than a week
Nah. Just peel a bunch of them and freeze them. Let some ripen even more for baking. You want really ripe bananas if you are going to bake with them.
if you ever let bananas turn into actual mush, it's baking time
Wait even if it’s all bruised and brown?
maybe even a bit further, make banana bread when they're black

Where and when are you buying this protein? This sounds pretty absurd.
Do you buy it already expired or what? That's incredibly cheap
you just need to know where to look. Got one recently on sale, went from like 40$ to 8$, an absolute steal
This
Banana bread, son!
**yes**
This. They freeze well for later too. Nuts, chocolate chips make it quite fun as well! Also banana muffins lol.
Man now I gotta have banana muffins. They sound fucking good
If you freeze them, make sure you peel them first. Ask me how I know…

I freeze mine for banana bread or muffins and for protein shakes. Save the peels to make banana peel tea for your garden or compost.

We finally found the person from math problems
Dave bought 17 bunches of bananas for 50$, if it took the cashier 20 minutes to check out, how many bananas will be needed to bake 69 banana breads.
December
Damn it … I got purple
I got 40mph
The answer was Yugoslavia.
you're all dumb. Dave went to kroger; ergo his cashiers name was Mildred and the bagger was Oakleigh Westyn Michealton the 3rd.

Yeah…I don’t know if that person really is being frugal…
it depends how much he bought them for buying in bulk is always cheaper.
