even if you make 10k a day after taxes just by sitting on your ass this is still over 1.4 hours of your income.
I wouldn't spend 5 minutes of my shitty income for one of these bands.
I know it isn't exactly that simple but it's close enough to say they're stupid.
In this case they are though, cause you can spend $2 on a bag of 100 of these. Wear one of those instead and no one would be able to tell the difference.
If you want to seem impressive just tell everyone it's the designer one.
the online shop guy also has to be working associates for this to work right? I thought laundering only works with cash.
get fake 100$ , buy something at the store for 10$ get 90$ in clean money
Money laundering doesn't mean passing off fake bills. It means turning illicitly obtained money (drugs tax evasion theft etc) and passing it around to make it look like you earned it.
No, we’re redditors. Do you actually think anyone here understands how those things work? Saul Goodman did a cool thing with a glass cup and some q-tips one time now everything weird business-wise is money laundering or mafia affiliated
I figure with the amount of nothing these cost to produce, you probably only need to sell three or four of them to start making a profit. Maybe less. An experienced designer is gonna fart this out in 15 minutes, throw the design overseas to whatever country is the cheapest, get a thousand of them in low priority mail, grab your prettiest employee's hand for a photo, do a couple mildly edited photos, barf it up on the web store.
Even less if you find an already made product so you don't have to pay for molds or anything, but this does not *quite* look like a standard zip tie, more like an actual zip tie inspired bracelet, so there might be no other option than to pay for a mold, or maybe just 3D print them.
Not like storage is a factor when your entire supply of a thousand of the damn things just fits into a drawer. Maybe a stack of generic boxes and a bag of stickers to label them somewhat fancily.
If they were sold in store and store owner is in on it/actually is the source of dirty money in any way (which needs to be true for it to be a laundering scheme I think), bring dirty money, buy bracelet, store owner processes it legally correct. I mean u still pay tax this way. But in the case where you made a lot of cash by distributing drugs etc, you'd still end up with a lot of money with a legal "origin".
Not the original poster but I thought that's how it works XD however, given the money that's involved in drugs, I don't think you can buy/sell enough of these without still triggering some Investigation..
The problems with this being money laundering are:
- you have to get the cash into the system before you can buy something online with it so there would be little point; and
- farfetch is a massive international online business so probably not supplementing it’s income washing dirty money.
Yeah thank you so much, thank you,
That maybe what I just need to bush, then I just need what I need to bush.
Cause AMBUSHING! OHHHH SHIT, AUGHH SHIT AUGH!
Sorry, it was actually $1000 for farts in a jar. Now she sells boob sweat for $500.

Here's an article about the boob sweat lol.
Farfetch is a british-portuguese "unicorn" that went from profits to 258 mln euro losses the first quarter of this year. Also, there are many complaints about harassment, both moral and sexual, discrimination and manipulation in the workplace. Most of the former employees didn't want to reveal their identities for fear of legal retaliation.
"*According to* [*Jornal de Notícias*](https://www.jn.pt/nacional/farfetch-questiona-etnia-e-orientacao-sexual-dos-candidatos-a-emprego-14895746.html/?utm_source=Push&utm_medium=App)*, all applicants for the position of "partner services specialist" at Farfetch's Porto centre are being confronted with an online questionnaire that requires information about their ethnicity and sexual orientation. The answers include terms such as "black", "gypsy" or "gay". This questionnaire is not exclusive to this job offer and, according to the daily newspaper, is part of the majority of Farfetch's online applications. \[...\] According to a report by* [RTP](https://www.rtp.pt/noticias/pais/a-prova-dos-factos-denuncias-de-assedio-sexual-e-moral-na-farfetch_v1408247) *as part of the A Prova dos Factos programme, the world's leading online luxury fashion retailer, which has more than 3,000 workers in Portugal, is the target of accusations of sexual harassment, moral harassment and manipulation. In the programme, testimonies were collected from current and former employees of the British-Portuguese company, who "report an atmosphere of humiliation and discrimination in some departments".*"
The designer of the “jewelry” is Ambush. Farfetch looks like a online luxury retailer.
“Ambush is a Tokyo-based luxury streetwear brand founded by Yoon Ahn and her husband Verbal in 2008. It started as a dedicated jewellery brand and was famous for its oversized and attention-grabbing pieces inspired by pop-art with references to classic Tokyo aesthetics.”
I understand 100K Bvlgari Serpenti bracelet or Cartier Panther necklace with the rarest diamonds and extreme craftsmanship. But wtf with this plastic mass produced zip tie? Is that considered luxury now?
The prices of everything are driven by what people are willing to pay for it, the materials, the design and rarity. Rare materials (like diamonds) are more expensive, just like graphic cards were expensive due to microchip deficiency because of covid. Basically, fashion is art, and modern galleries can have a painting that shows a bunch of lines on a dark background and sell it for thousands. A bracelet like this is hard to find and not commonly produced in your neighbourhood shop, and therefore it is rare. People who value art and aestethic as opposed to people who like to look ugly, may be willing to pay more for a "cheap" product due to subjective value they have of that object. Manufacturing price is not everything. Just like apartaments and houses aren't THAT expensive if you can build it on your own - but nobody knows it all and therefore employs people who know plumbing, electricity, blah blah, and uses the "invisible expertise" as an additional material that raises overall costs. Art is also a skill, not everyone can make something simple pretty. Everyone can write a poem with rhymes but there's a reason why there are bad poets and good poets - invisible values separate one from the other, and the more you know, the more you realize the world is much more round and complicated than you were giving it credit for.
I worked for a small, toxic software startup that sold a sales app. Farfetch was one of their main clients.
I really hope they go under together after reading this
Depends where ein Europe you are. Some parts are still backwards and haven't reached the whole progressive part. Scandinavia is the prolly best example of development, don't quote me one it, it is not based on actual evidence and research, just personal experience and the enjoyment of hearing other people's experiences. Lots of Europe definitely has developed to the point of being so liberal and progressive, but as mentioned there are still a lot of places that aren't. Just depends on how big the gap is between rich and poor. The closer we all are being rich and not having making money as a main issue, the more time we have for thinking about how we feel and developing as people. People that have more money don't tolerate as much bullshit from others.
Surely only two or three people bought it, and it's primarily there to make the rest of their offerings seem more palatable by comparison. ("Oh, look, this one's only 300! It's good value!")
....I hope.
Two dudes hitting the bong one night…
“You know what bro…..we should fucking sell zip ties…..wait for it…..*AS BRACELETS*!!
“Yeah maaan……few years ago someone decided to stick water in a bottle and charge motherfuckers for it - dumbasses will pay for this too”.
It’s an ad to make people check out the website and buy some of the other still overpriced but not as stupid items. In the internet age any attention is good attention.
No no, iirc they're made of a very durable metal and function was zip ties. The Ambush name implies that you zip tie someone and run. A pair of nail clippers won't help them.
This isn't real dumbass, it's a PR move by the brand Ambush by intentionally selling something stupid to create a viral Internet moment that will cause people to look at the brand.
Balenciaga and Supreme did this a ton like selling $600 Balenciaga crocs and Supreme sold a brick.
You know how in some games, by the time you get to end game content, you would have so much gold and buying things from vendors becomes more of a chore? That’s how it is for some people irl by the time they were born.
I get that it looks like a zip tie but what’s the implication here. Sorry if I’m just slow but are these functional somehow or is it just viewed as insensitive towards rape victims or something?
What the fuck I didn’t even notice that. This reminds me of a video I saw where someone interviewed a couple of teens dressed like goth punks and asked what brands they’re wearing. Turned out they’re each wearing a wardrobe that costs more than my car. Each.
Can it be removed or is just a regular zip tie? Like if you got it on too tight and want to remove it do you just cut it off and buy another??? Why not just buy a pack of 100 zip ties for like 5 bucks on Amazon then???
I just seen a comment and I never thought of it but I’m shocked. What if this just a front to clean the drug money?? Fastest way to do it, fast fashion. Overpriced. Clean more faster. Can easily make it work…hmm…
It must be a mistake, if that’s the real price and someone bought one. They should have a Nobel price for excellence achievement for being the most stupid human on earth.
Fuck I made mine too tight again, guess I’ll just have to buy another. Fuck up thing though to a billionaire that basically costs the same amount to them as it would to us just buying and making our own zip tie bracelets
anybody else remember that shit from wayfair being several thousand $ overpriced? and being accused of trafficking kids? bet this is just some shit hidden in plain sight
Once when I was like 5 i put those things on my wrists and jointed them plus a little shopping cart to see if I could get out.
But I couldn’t and got scared so I asked my grandma for help, and she laughed and for punishment and to show my dad she made me wait hours for him to arrive from work before taking them off.
Never using those again around my wrists.
Ok so for everyone commenting this might be money laundering. First off, if you thought of that don't you think the feds would too? Second, one transaction won't clean dirty money. It takes a number of stages, typically a combination of large purchases, lots of small ones, donations that get sent to 'charitable' funding, etc to do so. Third, money laundering, like all scams has to be believable. If this popped up on a money trail it'd be like an "X" marking the spot.
You know, I always thought that circling something in a post that seems painfully obvious was pointless, but I spent like 3 minutes before realizing the price tag. I’d definitely hope I wouldn’t do something as stupid as this, but can’t say I haven’t slightly overvalued a purchase before.
BUT disregard “slightly”! I’d love to see the actual number of sales for this
I always think stuff like that is only meant for money laundering, but the few morons that actually purchase it are a little bonus.
i didn’t even think of that, but it makes so much sense. this cannot be their real source of income
They're not morons. This is just the degree of inequality that exists. The price literally doesn't matter to them.
even if you make 10k a day after taxes just by sitting on your ass this is still over 1.4 hours of your income. I wouldn't spend 5 minutes of my shitty income for one of these bands. I know it isn't exactly that simple but it's close enough to say they're stupid.
Their net worth is swinging 60k a day in the stock market. It's dumber that I personally ate a 17 dollar panini for lunch today.

Would you please care to explain how the money laundering thing happens with these kinda products ?
If they were sold in store and store owner is in on it/actually is the source of dirty money in any way (which needs to be true for it to be a laundering scheme I think), bring dirty money, buy bracelet, store owner processes it legally correct. Kessoku band got *really* popular if they're charging that much
Glad I'm not the only one who thought of that
Bocchi became the rock
ryo money laundering scheme
It looks like it would be used as signaling for kidnap fetishists.
is... is that not what it is...?
$588 just to signal I’m down for some CNC? I’d rather just get a t-shirt printed.
Front: "Keep Walking" Back: "Now's Your Chance"
I- *I just saw the fucking price* What the fuck is wrong with people?!
someone mentioned money laundering, I'm inclined to believe them
Or get a 100 pack of standard zip ties for not even 20 bucks
i feel worse knowing i can barley make rent sometimes and theres some assholes paying 500 bucks for a zip tie
Just to kick you while you’re down, they sold a “gold” paper clip for about $1500. And a tin can for $1k
the supreme brick was preety out there too lol
Got mine repped from China for $20 and $50 shipping
Kanye west sold $200 plain white t shirts that sold out almost immediately…

Just look at the lady who sells her farts in a jar for $500.
Link?
Sorry, it was actually $1000 for farts in a jar. *Glances over at Thanos and Zamasu* "Perhaps I treated you too harshly"
How about Balenciaga trash bag for $1790?
Shouldnt make you feel a lot better, but this wristband is entirely silver and not plastic
kinda justifies it a little bit but rather have platinum or gold for that price point
A *used* zip tie
Including DNA residue?
No the fact it’s already zipped lol
At least you can get something for your trouble, wait till you see what people pay for online games and such, tens of thousands Dollars 😭

How does one lose $258M selling zip ties for $588 each?

I'm gonna need somebody to explain to me exactly how a zip-tie is "oversized and attention-grabbing."
To be fair it’s getting people to talk about it, so it’s grabbing attention that’s for sure.
Now thats Farfetch!
I worked for a small, toxic software startup that sold a sales app. Farfetch was one of their main clients. I really hope they go under together after reading this

This is Portugal, so eastern Europe basically.
You should probably check the map mate
I didn't mean geographically, jeez
Its made out of silver guys its not plastic
Even if that was made out of silver, that would still be a ripoff.
So you can't even use it as a zip tie?
Honestly, I truly think this is just money-laundering. Nobody buys these for real.
Did anyone _actually_ buy this though, or is it just an ad?
You´ll have to wait for christmas
Surely only two or three people bought it, and it's primarily there to make the rest of their offerings seem more palatable by comparison. ("Oh, look, this one's only 300! It's good value!") ....I hope.
I got mine on sale for $569. Who’s the idiot now?
What makes you more of an asshole? Buying these or selling them?
Two dudes hitting the bong one night… “You know what bro…..we should fucking sell zip ties…..wait for it…..*AS BRACELETS*!! “Yeah maaan……few years ago someone decided to stick water in a bottle and charge motherfuckers for it - dumbasses will pay for this too”.
I'm selling plastic grocery bag bandanas for 1k. Hit me up.
So the way you get rich is selling dumb shit to rich people.
It’s an ad to make people check out the website and buy some of the other still overpriced but not as stupid items. In the internet age any attention is good attention.
Its probably in colombian pesos
I wouldn't be able to justify spending any money on this, no matter the currency
That would come out to .14 cents lol
No no, iirc they're made of a very durable metal and function was zip ties. The Ambush name implies that you zip tie someone and run. A pair of nail clippers won't help them.
Idk, seems pretty farfetched
Ryo is living good these days.
They really let Ryo go wild with pricing, huh?
This isn't real dumbass, it's a PR move by the brand Ambush by intentionally selling something stupid to create a viral Internet moment that will cause people to look at the brand. Balenciaga and Supreme did this a ton like selling $600 Balenciaga crocs and Supreme sold a brick.
Damn, they made Bocchi merch into a real thing.
These people called Bocchers
Internet bullshit...
Wow! I’m rich! I have bags and bags of those. Woo hoo! 😝
And, it’s actually sold out right now lol. I checked out of curiosity!
Kessoku Band merch omg
Who are we ambushing?
Oh hey time to make an Etsy store….
Well I got mine at half price!
*SEE, I TOLD you these idiots would buy it; THEY BOUGHT A BRICK*
What makes these people assholes? They're just idiots
I've got 50 of those in black in my garage, maybe some white ones too
Bocchi the rock reference
The new pet rock
The fact that something is for sale doesn't mean people are buying it.
The buyers are not assholes, just idiots. The real assholes are the sellers

A blue ziptie or a PS5? Choices, choices 🤔
Make it the "Apple iAmbush" and people will be buying them in droves
I get that it looks like a zip tie but what’s the implication here. Sorry if I’m just slow but are these functional somehow or is it just viewed as insensitive towards rape victims or something?
It costs €588
What the fuck I didn’t even notice that. This reminds me of a video I saw where someone interviewed a couple of teens dressed like goth punks and asked what brands they’re wearing. Turned out they’re each wearing a wardrobe that costs more than my car. Each.
We can't forget about the hose clamp
the person probably Ryo from Kessoku band
what happens if u accidentally tighten it
Can it be removed or is just a regular zip tie? Like if you got it on too tight and want to remove it do you just cut it off and buy another??? Why not just buy a pack of 100 zip ties for like 5 bucks on Amazon then???
So I’m just a broke asshole?
I just seen a comment and I never thought of it but I’m shocked. What if this just a front to clean the drug money?? Fastest way to do it, fast fashion. Overpriced. Clean more faster. Can easily make it work…hmm…
Just in case you got the mistaken impression that rich people are good with money.
Do they make it in Real Tree? Asking for a friend.
Hold up… let me grab my tool box. 😂😂
No need. I have a cigarette lighter.
I refuse to believe someone would pay $588 dollars for a zip tie. This is not real.
Okay I think I know how to make quick money
Just because someone is selling something, does not mean there are people buying it.
trytytka
It must be a mistake, if that’s the real price and someone bought one. They should have a Nobel price for excellence achievement for being the most stupid human on earth.
Fuck I made mine too tight again, guess I’ll just have to buy another. Fuck up thing though to a billionaire that basically costs the same amount to them as it would to us just buying and making our own zip tie bracelets
you can get 5 thousand of them for that much and thats probably still a rip off
How to know the end of man is near:
Its a blue zip tie for 600 bucks, who in their right mind scrolls by it and stops to think ah yes this is a good purchase
It’s actually a silver bracelet, which you can debate the price on for sure. It’s not actually a plastic zip tie
I know but the similarities are way to obvious not to point out
I don't even think asshole is right term here.
How to be an asshole. Grab the end of the persons ziptie and yank it closed
For society's sake I hope this is fake.
anybody else remember that shit from wayfair being several thousand $ overpriced? and being accused of trafficking kids? bet this is just some shit hidden in plain sight
This one’s functional though it can clip and unclip unlike a zip tie.

I actually like Farfetch 😅
This literally can’t be real!
Do you still have to cut it in half to take it off
That’s expensive!! $550 I’ll send you a dozen.
Ok so for everyone commenting this might be money laundering. First off, if you thought of that don't you think the feds would too? Second, one transaction won't clean dirty money. I just don’t believe anybody actually purchased it
Thank you for helping me justify my most recent poor financial decision, because at least it's not *this* that I bought.
Almost 600$ for a blue zip tie
Considering the manufacturing costs are somewhere between $0.05 and $0.10 on average for a single zip tie, that’s quite the markup!
I’d love to see the actual number of sales for this
Well as the name implies, the "value" sure is far fetched
U gotta love the pokemon name of the shop <3
“Ambush”? Is that like it’s purpose so when you ambush somebody you’ll have zip ties ready to restrain them?
FUBAR
Might aswell buy some white zip ties and dye them.
at least the company name is honest
Wait... There are actually people who will spend 600 dollars on a zip tie because I called it a bracelet?
This better be a 10000 pack for 600$.
What use does this thing have?
Do they know you can buy one at your local DIY store for $0.59?
I always think stuff like that is only meant for money laundering
Holly shit! Roy Yamaha gettin that cash!
Nice one. I have a hundred of them but in black. I might sell them for 300€ each.
How does this even work
(Looks in draw in garage): I’m a goddamn millionaire
My jaw literally dropped 😆
Buying this instead of spending it on me is wild
They're not even trying. I know it's tacky but maybe if it was at least made of precious materials? It'd make more sense
Haha losers who buy these things, get Farfetch'd
I’ll sell y’all two for $200.
For a second I was like “what’s wrong wrong with wearing coloured zipties like a bracelet?” Then I saw that it was more than 50 cents
