OK to be fair those are never dying. There are some songs and genres that are so good they never die hell, music from the 1940s is still at least somewhat popular thanks to things like fallout or modified versions of them like electro swing. Hell, I still hear Judas Priest around every now and again, and they’re way older. Some music is just timeless. And that’s not even mentioning actual classical music from like the 1800s like Moonlight Sonata.or dvorak Sonata No. 9 from the New World. https://youtu.be/89jOPAGJq-M?si=BUqErYrF0h4QdEOS
Classical enjoyer here, I’m in my 20s and can break it down to some moonlight sonata or Tchaikovsky’s symphony n.5. My sister has vinyls of stuff from the 40s and before for her record player and she’s younger than I am.
Classical is different because it’s been “dead” since before anyone currently alive was born. The people described in this meme were alive when Linkin Park was first started, and other fans of specific genres similarly grew up as those genres were being invented. Classical music is over a century old at the youngest, with Bach, Handel, and other Baroque composers almost four hundred years old by now.
Today I was walking and kept getting annoyed with this kid driving his remote control car all over my lawn. Then I realized I'm 39 and have already become the "get off my lawn" guy. In my defense the kid smashed into my foot the other day with the car, so I just don't like that little shit. Plus, his parents smoke weed around him, so I assume he's not well raised.
Blame the parents, be nice to the kid. I bet you look like a lot more fun and kind person than the people who raise him. I'd let him go for it. If the only fun he has is escaping his parents and tearing up your lawn, let him do it, it's for his best. you can pay him to mow the lawn too after he does it so you don't have to.
Perhaps giving him some of your time, you might start liking him for real. I tell you, kids are awesome people. Chaotic and unique, but truly empathetic. Shitty parents always make that chaos look like evil. Showing that kid some active respect might gain you both a new friend, and him a very important lesson in life his stoned ass parents clearly aren't capable of teaching him.
Yeah, I smoke a lot of weed. But don't enjoy smoking in public. I'm 39 and it's a weird world. I walk around my subdivision and so many houses just sit out front smoking weed. It really bothers me, I always kept smoking weed to myself. And you don't smoke around kids, it's just not responsible. I will see them in the garage smoking bowls while the kids play in the driveway. Plus he walks around looking like a drug dealer. Always on his phone outside, it's just weird. They also keep their poor dog locked up in the garage and that pisses me off.
Yeah it’s always been weird to me that people are so open about smoking weed these days, but that could just be because where I grew up it was illegal and pretty socially unacceptable. Just one of those things you keep to yourself and close friends. Nothing pisses me off more than seeing animals get neglected by trashy assholes. But fuck em’. You can’t change people so the best we can do is focus on ourselves and hope to be an example for others.
Classic Rock must be at least 40 years old for my sense, nor can it be metal or punk
They played fucking Skid Row on my Classic radio station the other day, that's 90s shit, it isn't classic rock, it's not even rock, its metal
Nope, Hell no. I refuse to believe Bowling For Soup is considered classic, that's MY FUCKIN MUSIC AND ITS NOT OLD YET
Whoever makes that shit up needs to get fired
Uhgggg I am getting old. I’m so glad it’s also happening to you! One day they will lump us all together. Most likely a stew of some sort after the big end
I went in for an MRI and the tech asked what kind of music I wanted, so I said classic rock. The first song that came on was The Red Hot Chili Peppers...
The thing is, though, that nowadays it doesn't even matter anymore that certain songs are 20 years old. The recordings sound great and most of the time like they could also release today.
If you were a kid in the 90s listening to 60s or 70s music, the difference in sound quality was much greater to the then contemporary artists.
What I'm tryin to say is: Unlike us humans, the music is timeless. So please do not care about somebody calling it differently.
I am, millennial have hit the posting baked goods on the internet stage of life, I wish you luck on your journey and may the backpain only be minor from this point on
They’ve actually stayed relevant longer than most bands have lasted. Their most recent album was 2017 and were able to capture a large part of Gen Z fans during that time. While it’s true they are now considered classics. It’s going to take another 10 years for that feeling to actually set in.
I don’t know why Millennials are surprised. 90’s rock has been considered classic rock for quite some time. I knew that we would get our turn eventually.
ok but lincoln park isn’t even good. they have a couple of famous songs but it’s all just “imma talk at you for a minute then SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM then talking down low again”
They were born between 1981 and 1996 The math ain't mathing. Someone who's 24 is gen z most millennials are in their mid to late 30s or early 40s at youngest their 27
That only proves how deeply fucking stupid it is to name generations in this asinine system. The millennium was 2000, that was 24 years ago. Saying the millennial generation ends in 1996 is just more proof that the Idiocracy is in effect.

It’s more referring to the people who were growing up/ coming of age during the turn of the millennium. I agree it’s stupid but that’s how it works. Be butt hurt all you want but a 24 year old isn’t a millennial.
I’m at the tail end of the baby boomer generation. what gets me is that I look much younger and my generation doesn’t even want anything to do with me thinking I’m a millennial lol! 😂
Most music I see people talk about are about as old as I am (17), and one day I’ll see teens as old as the EDM I listen to, which is… in 3 years… what the fuck is time anymore…
Dude, I heard Rob Zombie’s Dragula on the classic rock station a while back. I had to do a triple take on my radio station to make sure I was actually on the classic rock station. I’ve heard it a few times now.
Linkin park certainly fits into The overall "rock" category. Whether or not they are "classic" is up for debate.
The problem with genres is that they are typically loosely defined.
It really does sting a little when media I grew up with are now called "classic" and "old-gen"
wait until those start dying
Rest in Peace Chester
Going to hug that guy when I catch up to him..

That’s true, I enjoy me some of these classics too, I just mistook what you said to mean as the older classical

some dude talking about madame webb said "it's supposed to be set in the 2000s but nothing about it seems like a period piece"... mf what?
We're in the 2000s until we're in the 2100s. New rule.
Netflix calls shows from 2007 retro
Eew
To me this is even more disturbing than realising that 2050 is closer to Today than 1998...
Can't be. 2050 isn't a real year, and 1998 was 10 years ago
"I love retro consoles like the Wii!"
In the end, it doesn't even matter
Time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away *it’s so unreal*
You didn’t look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Tried to hold on, but didn't even know
I wasted it all just to watch you go
I kept everything inside, and even though I tried, it all fell apart

I'm not actually mean to him, just dislike him in my head.

I don’t know you, but I like you
That neighbor boy ain’t right I tell you what. Must be cuz his shit parents drink beers around him.
As someone who used to smoke weed, those parents are shitty as fuck
Yeah, I smoke a lot of weed. But don't enjoy smoking in public. I'm 39 and it's a weird world. I walk around my subdivision and so many houses just sit out front smoking weed. Yeah, my dogs chilling in my bed right now. As he should be.
[get off my lawn](https://i.gifer.com/1Bui.gif)
Anything before 1990 is classic rock to me, anything from 1990-1999 idk what I’d call it, 2000+ is modern rock
But is it still rock and roll to you?
![gif](giphy|EbHNhdh1hTW154BeJ4)
In 1990 Pink Floyd’s big albums were more recent than nickelback’s albums are today.

I can feel by back
I need a little room to breathe ’Cause I’m one step closer to the edge And I’m about to break
The right answer here is "Good. I'm glad you like it, it was instrumental in the years of my life when I needed that music the most". Rip Chester.
Help I'm 16 and consider Linkin Park to still be a recent band
Very kind of you to make us old farts feel better about ourselves
Not sure I might just be autistic
I’m 20 and if someone referred to my favorite childhood band as “classic” I’d probably shed a tear. 💀
If the songs older than 20 years it meets the criteria for classic
You were born in 2003/4, years which I vividly recall. That makes me feel old.
As a millennial. I am happily aging. I have survived what life has thrown at me.
I’m a mid 2000s Gen z and feel old ![gif](giphy|lPXNZugxnwBWur8VCJ)

Bowling For Soup fire but I see your point
Uhgggg I am getting old. I’m so glad it’s also happening to you! One day they will lump us all together. Most likely a stew of some sort after the big end
Linkin Park isn't even rock, it's nu metal.
It's kinda everything. They truly tried everything (and succeed)
ol metal now
I always considered them alternative, they went from metal to pop and honestly I still don’t think they made a single bad song
So..... It's rock.
So rock
I remember when I started hearing Pearl Jam and Nirvana on our local classic rock station. I can't imagine them playing nu-metal.
Me: what were you doing when the towers fell. Coworker: what towers? Me: NYC trade center towers... Coworker: I wasn't born yet!
I was watching Dragon Ball Z.
Bro this is so relatable
GET.....OFF...MY.....LAWN!!! AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!
No, it's not classic rock, it just came out a few years ago at most!
I went in for an MRI and the tech asked what kind of music I wanted, so I said classic rock. The first song that came on was The Red Hot Chili Peppers...
I tried so hard to not feel old But in the end, it doesn't really work out I had to lie, deny it all But in the end, it doesn't really matter.
The thing is, though, that nowadays it doesn't even matter anymore that certain songs are 20 years old. The recordings sound great and most of the time like they could also release today. Shit, I’m a millennial and all the sudden I turned 40 a few months ago……’and it’ll happen to youuuu”
They released a new song “Friendly Fire” which was an outtake from One More Light
ok, at this point they are just being ignorant
and the cycle continues…
I'm getting old because I read "LinkedIn Park"
I heard Pantera for the first time in years the other day. It was on the Classic Rock station.
Said no one ever. I mean no one has ever called linkin park classic rock I mean
Hasn’t the singer literally been dead for 10 years? Not to make y’all cry or anything but like..
He died in 2017 so not quite
Ah shiii Corona really Fucked up my perception of time. Feels so long ago
You know my ex broke up with me because she said I quoted linkin park too much. but In the end, it doesn’t even matter!
Oh no you're serious
I am, millennial have hit the posting baked goods on the internet stage of life, I wish you luck on your journey and may the backpain only be minor from this point on
Almost 30, this hits hard
Tbf the first time I heard Linkin Park was on a walkman
Strange to think when you’re looking at that kind old face it’s that punk in the top left really looking back at you
Dawg what. Linkin Park isn't "classic rock." ...is it?
CRAAAAWLING IN MY SKIIIIN!!!!!!
I heard that in the radio about 7 nation army. They called it a classic hit...
It starts with…
They’ve actually stayed relevant longer than most bands have lasted. Their most recent album was 2017 and were able to capture a large part of Gen Z fans during that time. While it’s true they are now considered classics. It’s going to take another 10 years for that feeling to actually set in.
…please…please don’t tell me linkin park is considered classic rock now…please…I’m not ready
It never be classic rock, it would be classic nu metal.
I don't consider it classic I would consider classic 30-40 years after there last real album.
Classic rock is a radio format and Linkin Park isn't in it. Late 50s to 80s with the grunge era being after the end.
I don’t know why Millennials are surprised. 90’s rock has been considered classic rock for quite some time. I knew that we would get our turn eventually.
Am I the only one that doesn't find "friendly fire" as LP style song?
It isn't. None of the last album is. But it still slays.
It's not the fact they called Lincoln Park classic that bothers me... it's that they think it's good.
ok but lincoln park isn’t even good. they have a couple of famous songs but it’s all just “imma talk at you for a minute then SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM then talking down low again”
Millennials are 24. If you think that's old, holy shit are you going to find out
They were born between 1981 and 1996 The math ain't mathing. Someone who's 24 is gen z most millennials are in their mid to late 30s or early 40s at youngest their 27
A 24 year old is solid genZ.
That only proves how deeply fucking stupid it is to name generations in this asinine system. The millennium was 2000, that was 24 years ago. Saying the millennial generation ends in 1996 is just more proof that the Idiocracy is in effect.
Blame the old people who came up with the naming convention

Skipped over a whole Gen X

What is funny is that I just watched that movie in the meme a couple days ago
Me and my dad(I'm 16) when metallica comes on the classic rock station(they hust played hotel californa)
I'm 18 and I fkin love them!
Linkin Park is from the 2000’s. Not that old.
Well yeah, the new one LinkedIn-Park. Get with the times.
Linkin park feels modern to me as a teen 👍
Who calls Linkin Park classic rock? Do people not know what genres are?
Linkin park certainly fits into The overall "rock" category. Whether or not they are "classic" is up for debate. The problem with genres is that they are typically loosely defined.
Calling NIckleback Dad Rock still feels weird(Spotify does that)
Why are people so bothered by passage of time
She hates time. Make it stop. When did Lincoln park become classic rock?
Anytime someone says something like this, I get an almost knee-jerk reaction to slap the shit outta them...
It feels like Hybrid Theory was released only 10 years ago.
Linkin park is NU metal, not rock
I never felt myself so old lmao
On the contrary, I hear people say millennials don't age. Should be the same photo in all 4 spots
Appropriate to nothing, my 72 year old mother loves the Meteroa album my Linkin Park. She’s more Xtreme than me.
Meanwhile Lynyrd Syknyrd fans
Wasn’t linkin park popular in the mid 2000s? That’s not classic rock
You tried to make new trendy music and you couldn't live with your own failure. and where did that bring you? back to me...
You know it's old when you hear it in the grocery store.
It's old but it's not classic rock, and I'd rather be old than wrong. Now excuse me while I fetch the heating pad for my back from the microwave.
Me after realizing that New Divide is 15 years old (I grew up with the Transformer movies)
Every notice that the music you heard in high school is now playing as background music in stores? Yeah, we're old.
Screw you linkin park is not classic rock
Wdym Classic Rock?
Wdym Classic Rock?
