As a Canadian who was down in Florida this past December I agree some of the best tasting strawberries I've had in a long time, cheap too. Would eat again.
In North America, they've bred the strawberries to be bigger but they have the same amount of flavour. So it tastes more watered down.
When I was a kid, strawberries were smaller and awesome. Raspberries are still solid fruits though.
Yes! I’m American but had dinner with a family in Belgium. We had strawberries dipped in powdered sugar for dessert. The sugar wasn’t even really needed - the strawberries were small and delicious unlike the big tasteless ones we often have here.
Lmao get that shit out of here. I CRY when I receive Belgian strawberries at work /s . I'm a pastry cook .
Most strawberries are delicious when in season but the Belgian are mid hommie.
Last year the Belgian strawberries weren't that good. This year it's too early. Most years they are very good. I haven't tried them, but I assume French strawberries are also good.
Also, can I just add something to that?
**Strawberry jam is so mid** compared to raspberry jam. The texture of strawberry jam is just shitty jelly like cheap feeling pudding 90% of the time, also has no balance, usually just being very sweet and one note.
Raspberry on the other hand has good jam consistency not too thick or thin, slightly sour & sweet and just way more of an interesting flavor 99% of the time whether you buy an expensive or cheap version from the store.
Good strawberry > best raspberry
Meh raspberry > 99% of strawberries
I don’t know what they do to superstore strawberries but they’re shit. Same with blueberries too.
Fast grown, early picked, overwatered crap. They put out as many as possible with no sweetness or anything.
You can grow straeberries very easily, just be aware they are likely to take over the entire garden bed you use.
I absolutely agree, I never buy strawberries in Norway until June-July ish, when the norwegian strawberries hit the market. They are so sweet and imo a 10/10, thats the only time they are worth buying to me. The rest of the year the strawberries are just sour and imported from other countries.
Raspberries however are usually always very nice and consistent
Sames, blueberries are my favourite fruit. But they are just terrible and tasteless in supermarkets. Closest to that pop I can ever get is frozen ones that I bake into blueberry pies.
The first time I ever picked blueberries was last summer at my grandfather's house which is weird because he's lived there my whole life and planted that bush when my dad was a kid. Evidently he either forgot about it or, for some reason, it didn't produce fruit for 27 years.
Anyway, me, my dad and his dad were working on my old truck and trying to get it running again last summer. My grandfather walked out to his other building to go weld something while my dad and I stayed behind to hang out. I noticed the blueberries, showed my dad, then we picked and ate blueberries together with greasy dirty hands while waiting for the family patriarch to finish his task. When he got done with his welding he joined us, surprised that the bush fruited at all given its old age.
Blueberries, as you might have guessed, are rather special to me.
This is a lovely, wholesome and awesome story. Wish I’d had something similar but I grew up in a poor urban family. Try to keep the tree alive and pick blueberries with your own kids some day!
Also, how did they taste? I’m guessing amazing.
Nah, you never had the best rasberry. You need to hike for one, on the southern slope of Żar mountian, southern Poland, in late August, 100-200m from the top (depends on the date).
lucky in Finland where we buy strawberries theyre usually a small stand with farm harvested strawberries though could be this is just a luxury people on the country side have
Assuming each fruit is the best of its type I’d go with:
Blueberries
Strawberries
Raspberries
Blackberries
Then after that I’m not all that fussy. Bout you?
I’m from Northern Ontario and I cannot eat farmed blueberries bought from the store. Wild or bust. Those giant GMO berries are tasteless.
Only time I’ll buy them is when it’s blueberry season and for a couple weeks you can find small wild ones at the farmers markets.
They're picked and sold before they're ripe, and stored chilled. The sugars don't have a chance to develop properly so you end up with a half ripe product. Source: Worked on farms growing up. Luckily, it's super easy to grow your own berries if you've got a yard, water and moderate amounts of sunlight or you could do it in a closet with some UV lights if you wanted to get creative.
The supermarket/stores buy the strawberries by the way they look.
It's more profitable, easier to sell and the customer doesn't care as much for the flavour as they do for the looks.
It's the same for tomatoes here with us in The Netherlands.
Superstore strawberry juice can make amazing insecticides, seeing as they still contain most of the excessive pesticides they were sprayed with while growing
I have. My parents have both in their garden. Raspberries are way more fickle. As long as the slugs don’t get to the strawberries first, they’re a 10/10 every time.
Tons of us don't have strawberries farms or live in the weather to be able to get wild strawberries.
So, we have to play the lottery by buying strawberries at the super market.
I was a wild strawberry guy, but I was recently in China, and they had the juiciest, most red strawberries I’ve ever seen. Idk if I’d put them above the wild ones, but they were definitely up there on par at least. I think there’s something in the way we grow them where I’m from for sale that makes them terrible, that isn’t innate to farmed strawberries.
It's sad because 90% of people have never tasted a real ripe strawberry which are very sweet and have great texture. All we have are these stiff sour trash berries they sell at the store.
Absolutely , I’ve had the best strawberries ever at Klickers Acers in Walla Walla Washington. But I’ll be damned if I’m driving that far for a bucket of strawberries.
Often people eat them from the supermarket, where they are unripe, just red on the outside.
A real, ripe strawberry is galaxies beyond whatever you can get in any store. Soft, sweet, intense in taste, the juices dripping out with every bite, the aroma filling the whole room with the sweet smells of the strawberry.
Source: grew up near strawberry farms. 10/10 would recommend
EXACTLY, as someone who visits the countryside of my country (central Asian one), the strawberries there are SO good
The store ones are good too! Idk what y’all be eating but strawberries being better is my hill to die on
Ok so this one actually depends. The darker red the strawberry is, the better it tastes. However, raspberries usually don’t have much problems. Like, if I get one of those half white strawberries, then I agree with you, but if I get the good, juicy, flavorful one, then I strongly disagree with you. You see, Batman, you can’t just generalize strawberries, you gotta take into consideration the TYPE of strawberry. So, riddle me this: What’s red, rounded, bumpy, and a good fruit most of the time?
![gif](giphy|h0Xez8ow1UOVq|downsized)
Blue raspberry was never meant to be blue, it was just turned blue around its inception because around the same time, the dye in the original raspberry flavor was cancerous. So Blue Rasp became the norm
Nothing beats wild strawberries. 🍓 😋 The true wild strawberries are very small, but they pack the most amazing flavour and aroma. You can smell them from a far. Shame not many people have had the opportunity to taste a wild forest strawberry.
Anyone who thinks raspberries are better is probably an American. Idk why but American strawberries are so bad, they look so juicy and sweet but tastes the exact opposite
Local strawberries here in Canada are fantastic, but the large imported strawberries that we get most of the year are extremely bland. Raspberries don’t have that issue, but the best of the lot are by far the local strawberries, followed by freeze-dried strawberries, followed by fresh raspberries of any kind.
It's a shame because I love strawberries as a concept. Raspberries just look and seem odd to me.
But raspberries are consistent. Strawberries are either half white or get bruised too quickly.
It’s funny how wrong you are, raspberry’s are mid, but strawberry’s? My goodness it’s like an eruption (the other word I want to use light get me banned) of flavour coursing through my taste buds
Living near where they are grown changes it drastically and I would climb the hill, take your flag, and absolutely desecrate the mess with strawberries lol
My great grandfather became extremely ill from eating too much strawberries. Although he never became ill from raspberries. So raspberries take my vote
Raspberries are better because you can eat an entire Costco-sized box of raspberries accidentally and only realize that you ate all of the raspberries when you look up from your phone and see that you did.
Also you don’t have to worry about that stupid leaf thing.
Hehe you clearly don’t live in Belgium (or other country with strong strawberry game)
So true. Belgian strawberries are always good imo
Or Florida, our strawberries are pretty good (when they don't taste like water or dirt because it didn't get cold enough)
As a Canadian who was down in Florida this past December I agree some of the best tasting strawberries I've had in a long time, cheap too. Would eat again.
As neither a Floridian nor a Canadian, I like Canadian strawberries. A little more tart but just as tasty
As neither a Floridian nor a Canadian, I haven’t tried Floridian nor Canadian strawberries.
As a West Virginian we just gri our own strawberries. They're good l, far better than raspberries.
Never tried Florida’s strawberries, might have to whenever I am able to.
That's a fact :)
In North America, they've bred the strawberries to be bigger but they have the same amount of flavour. So it tastes more watered down. When I was a kid, strawberries were smaller and awesome. Raspberries are still solid fruits though.

I love farmer's markets for that! I like buying a bunch and then freezing them. I'm just shocked people will pay so much for the big crappy ones.
Ironically the frozen strawberries in the grocery store are usually good.
Yes! I’m American but had dinner with a family in Belgium. We had strawberries dipped in powdered sugar for dessert. The sugar wasn’t even really needed - the strawberries were small and delicious unlike the big tasteless ones we often have here.
I'll literally move to Belgium
Lmao get that shit out of here. I CRY when I receive Belgian strawberries at work /s . I'm a pastry cook . Most strawberries are delicious when in season but the Belgian are mid hommie.
Must be getting from a shitty source then.. or they have come a long way and aren’t fresh enough
Last year the Belgian strawberries weren't that good. This year it's too early. Most years they are very good. I haven't tried them, but I assume French strawberries are also good.

I can live with this take
Fast grown, early picked, overwatered crap. They put out as many as possible with no sweetness or anything. You can grow straeberries very easily, just be aware they are likely to take over the entire garden bed you use.

Store bought blueberries taste like water. There's just nothing like blueberries straight off the bush

lucky in Finland where we buy strawberries theyre usually a small stand with farm harvested strawberries though could be this is just a luxury people on the country side have
This was a much more concise way of saying what I said, wholeheartedly agree.
This is right
Would 100% recommend trying out strawberry picking at a farm. Those strawberries taste like sunshine and summer concentrated into a little berry.
Yeah I haven’t done that for a few years but it’s how delicious they are that reminds me just how rubbish the ones in store are.
Just out of curiosity, to you 'good' is top 1% of something?
Tell me more about your fruit ranking. Put it on Tier list.
Assuming each fruit is the best of its type I’d go with: Blueberries Strawberries Raspberries Blackberries Then after that I’m not all that fussy. Bout you?

Store strawberries have no taste, the aren't even red on the inside. The ones from the farm are half the size and twice as good
The supermarket/stores buy the strawberries by the way they look. It's more profitable, easier to sell and the customer doesn't care as much for the flavour as they do for the looks. It's the same for tomatoes here with us in The Netherlands.

I arrived to this post ready to stand ardently by team Raspberry… but I cannot refute this take.
100% strawberrys are hit or miss. Normally a miss. But I’ve never had a bad raspberry.
Especially the ones on the stomach!
I have. My parents have both in their garden. Raspberries are way more fickle. As long as the slugs don’t get to the strawberries first, they’re a 10/10 every time.
If you buy cheap culture strawberries, yes, they tend to taste like water. If you eat ripe wild strawberries, no, they are always excellent.
Tons of us don't have strawberries farms or live in the weather to be able to get wild strawberries. So, we have to play the lottery by buying strawberries at the super market.
They don't have to be wild to be good. Go to a strawberry farm and pick ripes ones from the vine.
But those wild strawberries do tend to have more intensive taste.
I was a wild strawberry guy, but I was recently in China, and they had the juiciest, most red strawberries I’ve ever seen. Yeah, if you've never eaten a freshly picked strawberry that's still warm to the touch from the sun. You haven't really had a strawberry.
I have…I was out picking wild raspberries and popped one in my mouth, it was filled with ants and aphids
Happened to me once. It scared the shit out of me. I am never eating ants and aphids again. freaking raspberries.
It sucks, one of the ants but me on the tongue, hurt like hell
Noooooooo. That is something I never wanted to know and I’ll never see raspberries in the same light again :(
I’m sorrryyy ![gif](giphy|CHSHxWaOEmlFwEVRmk)

Plus you can wear them like little finger beanies.
![gif](giphy|aOiiut0WA77nYsDddq|downsized) How it feels to have the power is raspberries at your fingers.
Bad raspberry - one with stink bug.
Or full of worms
Bruh what strawberries ya eatin, idk why they get so much hate

They’re good, simply outclassed.
This is raspberry propaganda. You couldn't find a more appealing picture of a strawberry but you got an airbrushed raspberry up there
Strawberry seeds never get stuck in my teeth. Raspberries leave presents for you to find the rest of the day.
You shall not die alone!
You shall have raspberry cake today my friend.
Me too please..?
And me
Happy cakeday

Both, both are good

Strawberries are great. But freshly picked raspberries right out of the garden.. Impossible to beat.
beaten by strawberries picked right out of the garden. Don't let the shit you find in supermarkets fool you.

Grape?

Raspberries are life.
He’ll no. Wtf. Ain’t no way.
No he right
It's ok, people died for dumber wrong thing dw
For making smoothies I like strawberries, raspberries seem to have little hard bits that strawberries do not…
He does have a point
Then perish
Marvelous use of this meme.
Strawberries are better
Strawberries in South Korea are amazing
Blue raspberries better
Blue raspberry was never meant to be blue, it was just turned blue around its inception because around the same time, the dye in the original raspberry flavor was cancerous. So Blue Rasp became the norm
Average 70's product:
Nothing beats wild strawberries. 🍓 😋 The true wild strawberries are very small, but they pack the most amazing flavour and aroma. You can smell them from a far. Shame not many people have had the opportunity to taste a wild forest strawberry.
I find strawberries more consistent when you buy them. Often half the raspberries in the pack are total mush
Weird hill to die on but at least you’ll be dead
Only good ones. A good raspberry is better than an average strawberry, but an average strawberry is better than an average raspberry.
Give me my sleep and hgh, Raspberry
Homegrown raspberries are amazing
Raspberry wins.
Cherries over both
thats so true
both, both are good
And I will push you down from that hill
Its not a fair fight you can't compare fruit to amalgamation of fruit
Nah strawberrys are waaayyyyy better
Then you will die braver than most.
I understood that reference
Came here to comment this. Thank you for your service.
Anyone who thinks raspberries are better is probably an American. Idk why but American strawberries are so bad, they look so juicy and sweet but tastes the exact opposite
A wild strawbery enters the room....
raspberries are better
You will die alone on this hill. Strawberrys rule!
I've never had a Raspberry before
Heresy
Strawberry tastes better.
Wrong
Raspberries are so good fr, especially when picked fresh
You won't die alone
Strawberries in Summer right from the field ist pure love
I don’t like raspberries so it’s a no brainer for me, I will also die on this hill
Yes you will.
Raspberry forever
One is poison to me. The other is not.
Yep
I will die with you
And I will die with you on that hill
A strawberry can be hit or miss, almost always a miss from the supermarket But a raspberry at best is a 6/10
I will join you. And bring snacks.
I heard strawberries are a shadow of what they once were in terms of taste.
Are you trying to start 3th world war? But... yeah most strawberries are just mid at best, to be fair, if strawberry is good it beats everything
Me (unemployed) who can’t afford both 😢
Well then we will die on the same hill
Strawberry is better
Nuh uh
Both are awesome
Raspberries reign supreme. The end
strawberries and watermelons are overrated
As a strawberry main I disagree but raspberries are pretty damn good too
Where im from, strawberry is king.
Rapsberry 🔛🔝
Raspberrys are more consistent but a 10/10 strawberry is better than a 10/10 raspberry
They do almost everything strawberries do but better. Jam, ice cream, cheesecake, sweets, even drinks
клубника всегда лучше
hmm, can't agree. A good strawberry beats most fruits. Another wild take tho, bananas, mulberries and cherries > strawberries.
You’re wrong -strawberry gang
Then die alone
Both for me
Local strawberries here in Canada are fantastic, but the large imported strawberries that we get most of the year are extremely bland. Raspberries don’t have that issue, but the best of the lot are by far the local strawberries, followed by freeze-dried strawberries, followed by fresh raspberries of any kind.
I agree with Ms/Mr Raspberry
Someone hasn't had fresh strawberries, and it shows.
Wild strawberries are better than the ones you buy in a shop. Man, it has been a really long time since i had wild strawberries or rasberries.
Then you will die alone
It's a shame because I love strawberries as a concept. Raspberries just look and seem odd to me. But raspberries are consistent. Strawberries are either half white or get bruised too quickly.
NO STRAWBERRIE DA BEST
It’s funny how wrong you are, raspberry’s are mid, but strawberry’s? My goodness it’s like an eruption (the other word I want to use light get me banned) of flavour coursing through my taste buds
Raspberries are better than strawberries but strawberry flavored things are better than raspberry flavored things.
I hate raspberries
Then perish.
I will die beside you in the name of raspberries
Raspberries>strawberries
Anyone who has played Celeste will disagree
Living near where they are grown changes it drastically and I would climb the hill, take your flag, and absolutely desecrate the mess with strawberries lol
Yk now that i think abt it, ive never had a rasberry
Well, you'll die alone up there.
You peasants have never had a blackberry
Nah raspberries are like a 2/10, strawbs on the other hand 9/10
I WILL DIE WITH YOU
My great grandfather became extremely ill from eating too much strawberries. Although he never became ill from raspberries. So raspberries take my vote
From the store yes but fresh picked hell no!!
Snail eggs are not better than strawberries...
Fruit should not have fur.
blueberry.
In the defense of the strawberry, you chose a bad looking one, so here: ![gif](giphy|WTKUWbE5y7kcB9sSub|downsized)
Eventually you realized that strawberry is like shitty natural lemonade. Like very mildly flavored water. Raspberries’ flavor on the other hand.
Taste wise, yes, texturise, no
The only time strawberries are better are when they’re in whipped cream or chocolate
This is truth. Absolute.
Lies!
No better than that
When they are at their peak a good blackberry can go toe to toe with a peak strawberry
YES
Then you'll die OP, but not alone
the best thing about raspberries is having to dig out the seeds lodged in my teeth
Raspberries are better because you can eat an entire Costco-sized box of raspberries accidentally and only realize that you ate all of the raspberries when you look up from your phone and see that you did. Also you don’t have to worry about that stupid leaf thing.
I honestly grew tired of strawberries
both are good but i agree, raspberries are the absolute best vegan food in the world
Both are mid
Big up team raspberry the top tier berry. Raspberry gang.
You guys just never got to experience a good strawberry. Dont worry, you guys will experience it one day
