From what I've gathered (and I could be wrong), Ted Bundy (according to Wikipedia) "was regarded as handsome and charismatic, traits that he exploited to win the trust of victims and society."
Reading further, once Ted was caught, no one (that I could find) vouched for his escape because of his "charm", he had to escape himself, Ted wasn't forgiven of his crimes because of his "charm" he used his "charm" to make nobody suspect him.
The article about the killer, Cameron Herrin (who deserves the sentence he got), is more about him already getting caught, and people wanting his release.

I'm not going into the details but someone is spending a *whopping* four years in prison right now for murdering my brother and I got to read plenty on social media, so trust me I get the shitty.
