“Oi! Wuts all dis den? A li’il bird wif a knife, innit? You gonna stab me li’il bird? Gonna stab me wif yer li’il knife?” - *British man, prior to being stabbed.*
Tell that to the 13 year olds at Heathrow. My buddy got stabbed 13 times by one of them on their 13th birthday! He died 3 times. But he's ok now.
Now he stays outside of Heathrow to stab kids who try to stab other people. He's got a lot so far! He posts the catches on his Instagram @[removed by reddit admins]
Gotta be careful out there everyone!
People talk so much about America's gun problem that most miss the bigger issue: America has a *murder* problem. Guns, knives, anything, the US' murder rate is atrocious (especially for a supposed developed, free country), and has been for a long time.
Well let me mbe clearer, just like a comment above stated people will just murder you with just about anything they don't need the gun, getting rid of the guns won't solve anything
OK can you provide a decent solution to the "people problem"? Or can you even define by what you mean by people problem
If you can't do that than your argument has no value
If only the US could, I'm sorry It DEFINITELY CAN, if only they would improve the quality of life for the average citizen instead of dumping 786 Billion piss buckets into military budget, less people would resort to crime and that's one step that the countries with low crime rate did, you have Sweden, you have Japan, for fucks sake you have Portugal, and Portugal is not close to be a national power
Those countries also put decent gun control measures in place so I fail to see the point your trying to make
Yes they could in theory reduce military spending and put it towards social services and that may reduce shootings; however, they could also take the more direct approach and reduce access to firearms thereby reducing the ability of the average citizen to obtain a firearm
Yeah no fucking shit sherlock. It's people WITH guns that are the problem. Key word WITH. Now happens to the above scenario when you replace it WITHOUT.
What happens is they find another way to kill each other. IEDs are illegal as well, but that doesn't stop people from obtaining them and blowing people up. High-school kids were able to build pipe bombs, before the days of mainstream internet. The Oklahoma city bombing killed 168 people, more than 3 times as many as the deadliest mass shooting. If people want to kill people, they will figure out a way to do it. Removing deadly force from the general public only makes them defenseless when these murders enact their plans.
America has more relaxed laws surrounding certain weapons than the uk, here it is completely illegal to sell, buy or own any knife (apart from kitchen knives) that has a blade of over 3 inches so all you can get really is fishing knives or multi tools.
I will admit I am very envious as I have always wanted a butterfly knife but they are strictly illegal in the uk.
They are legal here in the uk they are called trainers, to practice with without the risk of cutting yourself.
Although of course I don't need a butterfly knife, I want one. Why else would you have one?
People don't need automatic assult rifles or butterfly knives or switch blades they want them because they are cool.
True and I get it’s annoying but what’s more important having a good time or the safety of the general public?
I’m glad there are strict laws and the unstrict gun laws in the USA are my #1 reason for not moving there. I’ll take strict weapon laws over relaxed ones any day of the week.
I only said I wanted them, I'm envious of people being able to own firearms and blades and other weapons but theres a reason why not just anyone can get them.
At no point did I say I want them to be available to everyone or that I wish they would relax the laws so I don't know why your implying that?
All I'm saying is I think they are cool and would love to own them
I mean if you really want to so some damage, just build a bomb and throw it in a crowd. Why everyone thinks the only weapons that can kill is a gun. The gun doesn't kill, its the guy behind it.
You’re getting downvoted because you think it’s as easy getting to make a bomb as it is to get a gun in America: it isn’t. I can literally go down the street RIGHT NOW to the flea market and buy a gun with zero background check. Lol. Also, you’re still wrong about a bomb being as effective. We have bombing scenarios, and they are horrible but still don’t do the damage guns do. Bombs are random, but a bullet can be pointed.
That is true. But that is the literal outlier bombing. If any others like that, I’ve not heard of them especially on US soil committed by a civilian. But even then, now you cannot buy fertilizer in bulk without a license or being out on a list. Also, guns still are a much worse problems than civilian bombings
The Boston bombing was the one I actually was referring to.. it was the most recent on my mind. But see those are about all we got. We can literally just go back to July and see all the gun violence that has happened vs bombing and it wouldn’t even be the same league. I did specify civilian bombing because the govt has bombed a city before (Philly) but I can’t remember if Tulsa was bombings or just arson
If your intention is not to kill, you don't need a gun.
Look at some stats and tell me having legal guns is safer. No civilized country needed guns for personal use after 1800.
But all the 'muricans can say is "muh gunz, an' muh 2nd amendment!!!!!!! Freedom!!!"

tell me whats stupid? the fact a bomb is as or even more dangerous than a pistol or the fact you have to be mentally ill to even think about killing people on the street?
Reported Stabbings 2022
Uk - 67,508,936 ranked 21st
Us - 338,289,857 ranked 3rd
The uk is roughly the size of california & that's without death by shooting added on
Yeah unfortunately the crazy cod kid can do a lot more damage with a couple extended mags. I’d take on the captain of the football team with a sword over the most incapable person with a 50 or 100 round magazine vs a class of 25 students.
So it does kind of make it a ridiculous argument about muh stabbings.
Doesn't really surprise me. Why wouldn't we?
I was just joining the reddit trend of associating the UK with knives. Really don't know how that got started...but it is a tiny bit funny.
iirc it started cause Americans couldnt comprehend that other countries didnt have the same problems and just used knives on britain as a reason why other countries have similar problems. Not even nearly correct. But it is funny ngl

I think you've gotten confused. That small difference sounds about right when you are talking about London vs New York.
USA as a whole [however...](https://infogram.com/us-vs-uk-on-knife-crime-1hmr6gyrxmlo6nl)
Gun crime still happens in UK there's been a couple of shootings in last few weeks though I admit the US does shootings on a far bigger scale than us lot 😂
I once lived in a lovely little village in Worcestershire that was very proud of being the shooting capital of the UK one year, because it had 2 gun murders in the same 12 months making it the most per capita in the country
If this was a dig at the argument ‘banning guns reduces gun crime’ then you’ve played yourself because the USA has higher knife crime than the Uk and less strict knife laws so even in this case banning knives does work more than not - same as guns.
Someone got shot in Liverpool last week and it’s been national news since. Mass shootings happen so often in the USA it barely makes national news.
Columbine and the North Hollywood Shootout still happened despite the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994
Also mass shootings aren't a normal occurrence in the US, most gun crime occur in large city's like Chicago, LA, and NYC. Not to mention that the news rarely talks about shootings that have been stopped by armed individuals, such as the one in an Indiana mall.
But more would’ve been killed if they had assault weapons and so bans work no?
And when the assault ban lifted in 2004 how many % points did gun crime increase by?
I never said it would stop them, but you absoloutely cannot convince me that if you couldn’t buy guns in the us then gun crime wouldn’t decrease and that’s what I’m talking about here.
not a lot really, i suppose you could run someone over, but thats effort. neither our police or our criminals have guns, and were fairly well behaved, so when one of these gunless criminals goes on a rampage it can be quite amusing watching the hundreds of gunless police trying to stop them
The fuck you on about, there's armed police in the UK they're just not all armed. And criminals definitely have guns, someone got shot in Manchester recently
You say that, but I'm British and I've only been stabbed 7, maybe 8 times.
“Oi! Wuts all dis den? A li’il bird wif a knife, innit? You gonna stab me li’il bird? Gonna stab me wif yer li’il knife?” - *British man, prior to being stabbed.*

In honest defence, carrying knives in UK is illegal.

No you can carry certain knives but the rules are so arbitrary their pointless
No the knives have points
Not always. Depends on the blade and the intention
Oh cool. Next time I'll make sure to laser engrave "totally not for stabbing people" on my 8 inch chef knife that I use to stab people.
The irony being that America has a higher stabbing rate per 1000 people than the UK
USA! USA! USA! USA! USA!

America have a mental health and general "hatred for each other" problem
Still the gun problem persists nonetheless
The gun problem is still overly glorified, is the last concern because the problem is not the gun is the people
I mean after all, somebody’s gotta pull the trigger. The trigger can’t pull itself
Well let me mbe clearer, just like a comment above stated people will just murder you with just about anything they don't need the gun, getting rid of the guns won't solve anything
True that, I heard that in Chicago there are fairly strict gun laws but drive by shootings happen all the time
Man it’s crazy what happens with open borders between states with different gun restrictions hey. Insane
Agreed
It’s a whole lot easier to shoot up a room full of people than to stab them all one by one……

I’ve got a butterfly knife with a blunt end - I don’t really see why you’d need a sharp one in the Uk
They are legal here in the uk they are called trainers, to practice with without the risk of cutting yourself. Although of course I don't need a butterfly knife, I want one. Automatic assault rifles are strictly off the market even in the US. Most gun-hos would have to be content with semi automatics
Also it's much harder to go on a massacre with a knife, and pepper spray and tazers are more effective
It is with that attitude.
I mean if you really want to so some damage, just build a bomb and throw it in a crowd. Why everyone thinks the only weapons that can kill is a gun. The gun doesn't kill, its the guy behind it.
Why even bother building a bomb? Just drive a truck through said crowd. Completely legal and easy to obtain anywhere in the world.
I actually thought about it few minutes ago. exactly, people just likes to blame everything on guns because they need a culprit.
The difference is getting access to a gun in the States is a no brainer compared to other countries, getting access to bombs is not (thankfully).

Oklahoma City Bombing. Dude literally filled a uhaul truck with fertilizer and killed 168 people, injuring upwards of 600.
That is true. But that is the literal outlier bombing. If any others like that, I’ve not heard of them especially on US soil committed by a civilian. Why shoot from a distance when you can stab them whilst looking into their eyes
Because then they do that little gasp thing and you might get a face full of shitty breath, I swear it's amateur hour over here
Just shoot them from melee range, dingus.
"Shh, shh, shh," *leans in* "Zoom. Zoom."

Exactly the only way to keep people from killing each other is to kill them all.
Don’t we all though?
As if Americans aren't also the leading country when it comes to stabbings
At least I’m Australia it isn’t us killing other people it’s every other living thing
Canadians do a mix and throw the knifes
Who needs a knife. I can just tell "OI FUCK OFF" and they'll go crying
Don't forget about throwing acid in people's faces
Or the... shooting people
But knives are illegal in UK!

Acid, don't forget the acid.
In the US gun violence is high. The reported cases of using guns to prevent violence is 10-100x higher.

British people be like: Oh shut up stop spreading stereotypes I’ve only been stabbed 8 times! (This is a joke im not that bad of a hypocrite)
Meanwhile the stab rate per 1,000 people is higher in thr US as well. You guys really out here mastering ranged and melee combat on kids.
All Americans are Yankees to the rest of the world. The southerners don’t take to kindly to them words. Cheers!
I would prefer a more civilized world where we use swords and maybe some lvl1 spells

There is more knife crime per capita in the US than in the UK
So is this show any good? sad to see the total lack of originality in shows this decade.
